    Great buggy, really pleased with it so far. For me, once I soughted the rear-end sway, it is such a pleasure to drive on short course. The only aspect I am finding challenging, is getting the motor mounted just right. Have already stripped one pinion, due to the weird way the motor clamps around the engine casing (I'm running the Xerun 4268 G2 in mine). Wish it would have come with an optional sliding mount ^_^

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      organikness yep, I'm running the same motor and it's a pain....Also hate that you have to unmount the motor to change a pinion.

    I know this is a 2 year old video, but I would really like your advice because you are the most thorough reviewer I know of with a neutral opinion as far as I can tell. I'm not going to be purchasing a buggy kit, but they are not much different than the Truggy versions. I have been thinking for quite some time about which kit to go with, in which I am looking at these: HB E817T, TEKNO ET48.3, XRAY XT8E.2, SERPENT S811T-E COBRA E, MUGEN SEIKI MBX8TE, & the Team Associated RC8T3.1E. You don't have to try to explain to me why each has good and bad, just name your top 2 to you. I really like the HB, XRAY, & the SERPENT. I know TEKNO is great but I am wanting something different and yes I will most likely just be Bashing but I just want a quality kit because I am at the point of upgrading my Kraton that it's just a better idea to get a GRADE A KIT. Thank you very much for your time if find some because I could really use your advice!!! Thanks again

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know that different is something that you want, and almost everything you listed are great choices....but bashing wise, many of them would be bad choices, merely on the fact that replacement parts will be crazy in price - like the HB, Xray and Mugen (I have no experience with Serpent...) The ET48.3 is just a pretty solid kit and durability wise, it's a Tank. The only thing I don't like about the Tekno is how cramped the chassis is for electronics...but you do have the extra 2" from the ET though. The HB fell ill with the mounts - the Servo mount is plastic and the motor mount is the worst (IMO) of anything. Also the battery tray is a bitch to get batteries in and out of quickly. The Mugen and AE are pretty similar, although you'll find that Mugen parts are about 25% more than AE and carried in less shops. The bottom line is anything you listed will be a better experience than the Kraton merely on the quality of the kit's materials, the adjustability and that YOU will be building it

  • @stevecaron6609
    @stevecaron6609 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How does this build compare to the Tekno EB48.4 build? I believe the initial price of this kit was $100 more then the Eb48.4, so I'd be curious if the values equal out.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Steve Caron the Tekno is great and built like a tank. You do get some serious bells and whistles on this kit like all aluminum hub carriers and Chubs....carbon fiber goodies and a world championship design

  • @garszy
    @garszy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice Rich
    Top quality. I went Team Associated over their E813? Because of parts supply.
    I'm torn between the Teknos MT (because I don't have a 4wd MT) & the EB48.4 (love Teknos, have the SCT) and the E817. Would love to hear your feelings when your up and running on the differences etc.
    The HB seems to be that little bit more refined wanting nothing to upgrade. Where as the EB48.4 has options to spec it up.
    Also can you fit 6S in the HB, and Teknos for that matter?
    Cheers again on a great review!

    • @highhorseexpress301
      @highhorseexpress301 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can fit SMC 4300 6s hard case in a tekno SCT
      I ran that plus a 2200 castle geared 24/44 in original sct410
      plain stupid power, no way anyone can lay it all down, but truck handled it!!! I got video

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Garszy yeah, they can fit.....but if appropriately equipped, the Tekno and HB doesn't need 6s.

      But its FUN man
      imagine 1/2 throttle down straightaway and a 1900 4s tekin tries to pass then u punch it and they eat ur dust!!!! while ur car is on the rear wing!!!!!

  • @paulobraz6117
    @paulobraz6117 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently bought an eb48.4 after an extensive search and comparison with other models. Had not seen the e817 before the purchase. The e817 seems to have a cleaner construction than that of the tekno. In your opinion, which one is the best? Which is the toughest?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paulinho Braz the HB drives great on certain tracks and has an exotic appearance with all the additional CF and Aluminum. I thought that the Tekno drove a bit better for my driving style though. AND, there were a few things I just didn’t like about the HB, like the motor mount (clamps the motor can and adjusts from the bottom using a 3mm driver), servo mount (plastic and stripped out) and battery tray is a pain. I still have my EB48.4 though 😃👍

      No troll here....but yeah, it's tough to see buggies like this bashed, but to each it's own! Have fun RCing either way!

  • @chrisbryan6493
    @chrisbryan6493 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow! I know this is an older video but between the HB e819 or the tekno eb48.4 which one would you go for. Outdoor track practice and a few races.. hows part support etc?

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Part support depends on your local shop/track - I've always found Tekno parts easier in the US. Drive wise, the HB was a great car, maybe slightly better than the Tekno, but the HB had some deal breakers - like the motor mount and servo mount were terrible. Plus getting batteries in and out of the HB was a marathon

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Haulin AZZ in comparison, the HB does give you some upgrades in comparison to most of the $499-$549 E buggies.

    • @highhorseexpress301
      @highhorseexpress301 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see, especially with those nice aluminum front c hubs n rear hubs
      that was once a $150 upgrade for the rc8.2e
      But how can u resist tekno eb48.3 for $330 vs ~$650 for this kit??? (minus the fact u already have 1 hehe)

    • @highhorseexpress301
      @highhorseexpress301 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I agree, tekno layout, some kyosho, and those front steering blocks look like the aluminum version of the old rc8.2e. Plus I don't really like clamping mounts, they limit you a lot on motor options and the normal style is perfectly fine for good sized motors. And why doesn't this buggy have good cva boots??? they really cut down on the wear

  • @yeongsangjo4063
    @yeongsangjo4063 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    what do you think is the best 1/8 E-buggy between hotbodies e817,and TEKNO EB48.4 ??

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tough call! Big outdoor track, massive jumps - EB48.4 Tight technical track - E817 Just my thoughts so far. Both are great options

    • @organikness
      @organikness 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. I got this a few weeks ago, and have put it through its paces on turf short course (balance between tight, easy and technical) and really tight dirt/clay course. Once I got the rear sway tweaked, and got a feel for its turning, I must say, I really really like this buggy. For me, it is a perfect balance of everything. Not to lite and not too heavy. Really nice for corners and air maneuvers, and just really pleasant to drive.
      As for build quality, I initially thought a few of the pieces might not hold up, but so far, I was wrong. I have had some pretty gnarly nose dives from quite high jumps, a head-to-head crash with a Losi, and a few tumbles, and have only had a screw in the chassis come loose (forgot the loctite!)
      All in all, I am very happy, and would expect to see a few more of them on the tracks, as the price drops in the coming year. Good luck!

  • @debroahcain5191

  • @newtonfoster7581
    @newtonfoster7581 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you not build truggies? I can't find any of your videos containing them. If not, why not? If you don't mind me asking because buggies are lame in my opinion. Limited to tracks basically is why I don't ever see one in my future

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've only built one Truggy, the Team Durango DEX8T and honestly, couldn't find a suitable place to drive it with in 2 hours from my house. Buggies are more versatile being smaller and have just as much power. I've also done the entire Arrma line up including the Talion (Gen1 and 3) which are also on the channel

      TTXD Gaming look for a used Tekno EB48.3. Assuming you're talking 1/8th. I just sold my roller for $275 and they're out there for about $200. They're tanks and since the new model came out, inexpensive.
