YIP HOLDS ITS SIXTH (VIRTUAL) PARLIAMENTARY SITTING OF THE FOURTH PARLIAMENT
On Wednesday 22nd January 2025, the Fourth Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana of YIM convened virtually via Google Meet for its First Sitting of the Second Session, dubbed the SIXTH PARLIAMENTARY SITTING.
The Speaker of Parliament, 'Rt. Hon.' Adam Usman presided over the sitting. The table office was headed by the Clerk Parliament, Miss Mary Tettegah, The Majority Caucus, led by the Majority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Hubert Agbaxode (Akatsi North Youth MP) whiles the Minority Caucus, led by the Minority Leader of Parliament, 'Hon' Wonder N. Dzameshie (Anlo Youth MP).
The sitting commenced with opening prayers followed by the administration of oaths to newly sworn-in Youth MPs. Afterwards, communications from the founders were read by the Speaker for the attention of the House. Subsequently, Youth MPs present introduced themselves. The Chairman of the Business Committee, who also serves as the Majority Leader, presented the Business Committee Report, which was adopted as the official agenda for the sitting.
At the commencement of Public Business, the Speaker called on the Chairpersons of all 16 Standing Committee and 18 Select Committees of the Fourth Parliament to present their report in the following order: The Standing Committees include the Appointments Committee, Business Committee, Education Committee, Entertainment Committee, External Affairs Committee, Finance Committee, Health and Safety Committee, Intelligence Committee, Organising Committee, Petitions Committee, Privileges Committee, Publicity Committee, Special Budget Committee, Sports and Games Committee, Standing Orders Committee, and Welfare Committee.
The Select Committees comprise the Committee on Chieftaincy and Religion, Committee on Cost of Living, Committee on Defence and Security, Committee on Democratic Governance, Committee on Election Monitoring, Committee on Employment and Labour, Committee on Energy and Petroleum, Committee on Environmental Protection, Committee on Food and Agriculture, Committee on Foreign Affairs, Committee on Gender and Children, Committee on Human Rights, Committee on Judicial Affairs, Committee on Legislative Affairs, Committee on Local Government, Committee on Student Relations, Committee on Technology, and Committee on Trade and Industry.
For committees who failed to present their report, Mr Speaker directed that they table the report at the Next sitting of which the Hansard will capture it as having been read in its entirety. After deliberations, the Sixth Parliamentary Sitting of the Fourth Parliament was then adjourned.
