    I’ve seen several of your reviews and as usual they’re done very well. Appreciate the honesty instead of just being a fan boy.
    I totally agree about the braking with the GT350. I sold mine a few months ago and yes I regret it somewhat but the market was just too good. Been looking at GT500’s so this video is helpful since that would be more how I’d be driving it. Thanks again!

      keep me posted on the C8 it seems everyone who I talk to loves them. I came very close to trading my Alfa for one but the sellers are nuts today with the markups. the Z06 is the one I think that would suit me best anyway I just hope I do not get robbed when it comes time to spec it. I pray that nothing causes GM to have issues with production and push orders back 2 years that was what happened with my C8 which I sold the build to a customer fan who watches the channel I got tired of waiting.

    Excellent video. I chose the GT500 over the GT350 back in 2020 because of the power, the more aggressive front area and the sound of the engine. With that said, you have a beautiful GT350R. Your red GT350 was gorgeous.

    Got a chance to drive the GT500 last year at the GT500 Track Tour. Thought it was amazing. Especially after going for a few laps with the Ford Pro driver after my laps. Couldn't belive what it could do around a track.
    But I was happy to get into my 2008 Roush Trak Pak for the drive home. Did miss the stick and could feel the weight of the car compared to mine. I had a 2015 Roush Stage 3 that I sold because it just wasn't as fun to drive as my Trak Pak.
    I'm like you. I like a car that I feel more connected to and feels more connected to the road. More raw and nimble. My Stage 3 was more of a grand tourer. It was FAST and the interior was nice but just didn't give me the same feeling as my Trak Pak.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for sharing your feedback. I also noticed the faster you pushed the GT500 the chassis reacted awesome the issue is on the public roads you really can not do that safely. this is why i like cars with balance and power you can extract all the time rather than 1% of the time under ideal conditions.

      @@autofanaticcars no doubt the power was useless with those tires. PS4S all around transformed my ‘14. Def drive it with the new tires … you’ll enjoy it. Clearly the new GT500 still outperforms - but something to be said for manual trans and capable power of the last gen.

    I totally agree about the power thing. I want a pp1 gt and thought about supercharging it but it'll be power I'll hardly ever use. I'm a fan of 0-60, hard stoplight to stoplight pulls. Longtube headers and a good tune would be plenty for me

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yeah if you did headers, full exhaust and tune you will be very happy on the street I did that on my 2015 GT PP and loved it

  • @thillyard1

    Former Gt350 owner, thanks for your honest review. The GT500 is a cool car, but I feel like the price is so high (not even factoring in dealer markup which most Ford dealers want). Lots of pros and cons here. I always felt like my GT350 lacked torque down low for my roads and driving style and this car addresses that in spades. But I struggle with the idea of such a large and heavy car as my “sports car”. I own an MK5 Supra now and that car seems so much smaller and lighter than my GT350 and pulls like a freight train with gibs of torque below 4K RPM. To your point all of this comes downs to what you want from a car and willing to pay.
    I also have a deposit on a C8 Z06 (MSRP) but realistically won’t see it until 2025 due to the huge wait lists.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel my GT350R is an actual sports car with a power band that we can all use on the streets or track. I wish it was smaller in size compared to the S197 but for what it is the car is amazing. The 500 added way too much heft and you can feel it especially in the braking performance on the street.

    The Mustang has always been one of my favorite cars.
    A long, long time ago in a land far away, I think it was called Kansas, I had a 69 mach1 428 cj. This thing reminds me of it. Since I don't do twisty roads, I'll take this 500 any day.
    That 69 was crude and unsophisticated but good for street racing.
    Even at my age, I'd be lead footing this thing.

    Loved the video. I did get a chance to drive a GT500 and I liked it a lot. The downside for me is that it’s too big and that makes it too heavy. I thought the ride was a little harsh, at least on roads in and around Chicago, and I own a Ford Focus RS. I was a Corvette owner for 31 years until June this year and that car handles so much better and was much smoother. The Corvette weighs less and had a short wheelbase which I am sure contributes to the great handling but the GT500 power was outstanding and I too loved those downshifts too, I wondered if that would be considered rev matching, irregardless I love the GT500.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the one thing I forgot to mention in the video is that the power of the GT500 is so insane that I doubt most owners can safely extract it on public roads because you need so much room to open the car up and in my area thats almost impossible. thanks for sharing your feedback and I was curious for almost 2 years if the Gt500 would ride over bumps better with the extra weight and I now realize it does not. the S550 chassis platform rear IRS is really the cause of that by design unfortunately. Mid Engine cars drive and ride so much better.

    It really reminds me of a hellcat, seems like it's wandering in the lane maybe even more than a hellcat would. It didn't seem like a tram line, more like just a big car with a loose front end.

    • @autofanaticcars
      @autofanaticcars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it really does remind of of that as well except the faster you go the cars size and weight shrinks around you and instills way more confidence. I drove a Challenger Hellcat when they first came out on the same highway and i felt like I was sitting on a sofa that was trying to kill me. If your in the market for bragging rights of horsepower and want something like this the GT500 is the one to get. the Mopar is so outdated under its cool retro skin.

    Hey what are your thoughts on the new Z06? I currently own a 21/ ZL1 1LE 6spd and i love the car immensely! I was trying to find a 350R for quite a while but couldn't find one at a decent deal so i decided to go with the ZL1 also because i wanted a manual car. not really a fan of the GT500 TBH. I think its too heavy of a car but im definitely going to aim for the new Z06 hopefully in a year or two dependant on what dealers will be pricing them at! just curious about your thoughts! Thanks

    Cool and all, but all I can think when I look at all the complex one-off systems is that this car will be unrepairable/maintainable in the not so distant future. That's fine for all the uninspired disposable cars, but this would be heartbreaking to be unable to drive due to parts availability or absolutely obscene part costs.
    I think a market exists for a great minimalist car targeted toward longevity and collectors.
