Brian is the most underrated guitarists of all time. You see these lists of best guitarists or top 10 guitarists of all time and you always see the same names like Pete Townsend, Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Keith Richards, and nobody ever mentions Brian May. He was a, no, IS a musical genius. He and his father designed and made his own guitar out of stuff laying around their home like a freaking sewing needle and a piece from a saddlebag. He made the knobs himself, and he plays it like it's just an extension of his fingers and never do you hear him on any list of greatest guitarists ever or greatest guitarists of all time, you don't hear any accolades given to this man who is truly a guitar master. That pisses me off to no end and that is criminal.
Most critic's and the average schmuck on the street may not give Brian his due. But most current top guitarists sure do. Everyone from Jeff Beck to Slash admit to the influence May had on them. Well not so much Beck as he came first but he did call Brian The Governor and said everyone wanted to play Brian's licks instead of his. When those who know wtf they are doing list Brian as an influence. That is enough for me.
@@Sneak65 I've heard very very few people mention him as an influence or say that he is one of the greatest or he was a great influence to them or that they wanted to play like him. There have been a few. I've heard Slash mention it once, but even the greats like Pete Townsend and Keith Richards have never said anything about him. It's just sad that his own "people" can't say Oh you know who else plays really hot or I'm think you missed someone who should be on this list or you know who else is amazing ...nothing.
Well actually he is 26 at Rolling Stone list. But fuck the Rolling Stone, those bitches hated the band at the times and seems they are not over it yet. But, Brian is No.2 in the Guitar World list made by readers poll results at 2012 and that's a result. And musicians do give him credits, at least check it in the internet, i'm not gonna do it by myself. So I don't see how May or the whole band is underrated. Maybe by those shitminded critics, but not by people.
YES YES >>>>YES!!!! you said a mouthfull there. While others played....he composed..While others made good music.. he created masterpieces, and squeezed as much emotion from each note as one would expect from a classic novel or great movie !
When Freddie died this song was played everywhere, every station and TV show, every newspaper and columnist quoted it. It was almost as if it had been written for the future. Highlander was great and we spent so much of our youth quoting it to our friends.
Hi, sorry to hear of your bothers passing, I too would want this at my memorial (as well as James - On Top of the World), it is I think the most popular memorial song in the UK, and with good reason
Dr. May is 71, fit as a fiddle, vegetarian, animal rights activist (particularly badgers and foxes) and has a PhD in astrophysics ... he recently made a new song - New Horizons - to the space probe which now has passed Pluto and is on its way towards the Kuiper belt. I know there are many elderly rockers (like Rolling Stones), but nine minutes guitar solos on a guitar that in one second sounds like three V8 engines, and the next like a seagull? That's Brian!
He was such a beautiful man. Through and through. And this is coming from an openly hetero male. I am comfortable and confident enough to admit beauty when i see it.
Sure it was a tear-jerker for us. We miss Queen and their genius. Their music. Their ideas. Their.... everything. I, for one, do. I get up with at least ONE of their songs in my head, every day. The whole lot of them were amazing.
Sept. 5, 2021 will be Freddie's 75 th bday. Born 9/05/ 46. He's 1 wk short of 3 yrs older than me. Both Vi rgos. Detail oriented, perfectionists, etc. Very relevant for him! Sadly, I fall short, but it does help me appreciate his awesomeness.
I know what you mean when you say Freddie gives it his all. He is a dramatic person by nature and whatever song he is performing,he immerses himself in that mood and makes us feel it,too. One of a kind.
Forgot to say I love your reactions,I remember your first ever reaction to Bohemian Rhapsody.Love how you check out the history of their music, many thanks from all Queen fans here in the United Kingdom.
Too much love will kill you is recorded with Freddies vocal, and later Brian is singing himself. This gives the lyrics two very different meanings, when you know what those guys went through at that time. The despair ... Myself, I prefer May's version.
Or the very first airing of Too Much Love Will Kill You, by Brian at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert, so powerful, as he struggles to hold it together, just a few months after Freddie’s death.
I am 67 years old and never get tired of queen and Freddie. This song makes cry every time. I am from Sydney cape breton canada and it gives this old chick such comfort. Thanks honey for sharing
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to the WHOLE recorded version, the harmonies are just the most beautiful harmonies I"ve ever heard. I wanted you to do the recorded version!!
Love your reactions to Queen. Anybody who dislikes this man's voice must have something wrong with them. And his personal life should not enter into it. It is his business. I have adored Freddie from the begining. One listen to that voice and I was hooked forever. What a talent
This was played at my late partners funeral. When we first met, when your discussing your likes, dislikes and so on, Highlander was his favorite film, along with this song. Such a fitting song for his service, and I am so thankful to Queen for giving us this beautiful piece. I cry every time I hear this, but I'm so thankful
I am *L O V I N G* watching you discover and become immersed in Queen - Freddie - Brian - Roger - John. They always knew they were the best together and each one were essential and intensely skillfill. Each of them strong enough to hold their own!
when I hear, Who wants to live forever, i not only listen to it, but I feel it in my soul and body....its like you live it for a few mins. I love Queens music!!! I have never heard you take my breath away, I love it, so beautiful! Perfect love song.
I agree, often the live version capture Freddie's emotional delivery, but the studio versions are works of art. if you listen to the rest of You Take My Breath Away, the harmonies (all Freddie!) will give you chills. Here's something that I haven't seen brought up in your comments though: can we persuade you to react to Queen songs with headphones? Like good quality over the ear types, not tinny earbuds. Unless you've got a great stereo surround setup (or if you do indeed listen to these songs later on your own time with headphones), you're going to be missing out on some beautiful audio effects that the band took great care in creating. For instance, The Prophets Song. Headphones are a MUST for this one!
Sometimes a person comes along with a dream. Freddie made his dream come true. And we are the better for it. His singing, his lyrics, his demeanor are not of this world. Dare I say he was given to us? For me I say he spoke to me that comes straight to my heart. That is all I need.
OMG. I can not believe you stopped listening to 'You take my breath away' studio version at the point where it gets the best (and very different to live version). And you've missed the guitar SOLO!
He was using it to compare it with the live version, that is my guess why he missed it,probably intentionally, because he said"I'm gonna stop right there. So my guess it was intentionally.
The album version has goosebumpy backing vocals and a guitar solo, which shreds right through your heart and let your soul rise straight to heaven. Sadly you stopped the video too soo. So, check it out for your own good. Btw I love your reactions. You're reserching and are always respectful, yet honest. Rock on!
I was thinking that, this is one song thats not easy to sing live because of the backing vocals and yeah he stopped it before it really gets going, it's worth listening to it in it's full, also, I find the studio version better then the live version on this song.
Haha, great that all the fans share the same feeling after this reaction... "Don't you dare stopping in the middle of this superb studio album!" Now he missed the best parts...
@@LeroyBrown84 I know, I was a bit supprised he stopped before the song got going and ended up missing the best part, but for me personally, listening to the studio version first then the live one so you get to hear how the song is meant to sound like, more so with Queen songs because they play about with them a bit with live performances.
QUEEN MADE SONGS FOR TWO DIFFERENT MOVIE ONE WAS FLASH GORDON and the Second Was HIGHLANDER. Brian has PHD in Astrophysics. ALL Queen bandmates are very well Educated.
Queen were COLLECTIVELY geniuses....way ahead of their time upon inception...their music will still take people aback upon first listen for many, MANY decades to come...the beauty of music...eternal as you please!
You have me in tears everyday. Freddie was a complete one off. Freddie was born 5th September 1946, so he would be 73 this year. My maths are crap so I think that's correct.
I really enjoyed these reactions...appreciate the fact at how much you appreciate and respect Queen and their talent, like their fans do..and you're right, You Take My Breath Away would be perfect at a wedding......Freddie's range and emotion in both these songs..are just amazing...
Who Wants To Live Forever ALWAYS brings tears in my eyes.. well I love your reactions to Queens's music.. by the time you entered their world you won't ever wanna go away, this happens to everyone.. discovering Queen's music makes you a better human being.. mark my words here.
I have been a Queen fan back in the 70’s I even saw them in concert when they came to Minnesota, I have been watching your Queen reactions from day one, and seeing and hearing all these songs that I have not heard in along time bring back lots of great memories and also made me realize, even those I loved Queen from the start, I didn’t truly appreciate their talent and how amazing Freddie really was and how I really did grow up with incredible music, and it’s been a delight to watch you appreciate Freddie and Queen’s music and become a fan..... thank you 😊 ps Freddie and I share the same Birthday 😉
Watching the film "Highlander" back when I was in high school actually jump started my Queen musical journey, and then I realized what all Queen fans know - all of my favorite childhood songs were Queen songs, even though I didn't know it at the time. But my need to own "Who Wants to Live Forever" on cassette tape led to my massive Queen fandom. By the end of that summer, I owned every album they had ever released.
I'm so happy people old and young are finding this song (You Take My Breath Away).. its been with me since 1976/77 and I've always been a bit obsessed with it... I love how Freddie had slightly different melodic phrases on the live version...Everytime I listen to this track I'm reminded of just how brilliant Freddie was... esp in this era. RIP King Freddie!
THANK YOU for that wedding reference!! I’ve said for years this is the song I want to walk down the aisle to and all my friends have said it sounds depressing, but they clearly can’t envision it the way we do 😂
When he sits in front of that piano and starts to play and sing, it is like everything else in the world is silent and it seems like, to me, he knows you're there and you're listening, it's a performance, but it's almost like he's there alone with his piano and he gives every single ounce, every drop of energy, all of him- every bit of emotion, every bit of passion, into what he's playing and singing. It's almost like he is just so engrossed in the music that even though he obviously seems aware there's stuff going on around him, cuz you know he looks around and what not, he also seems to be in a world of his own, singing and playing with every single thing he's got and he is going to give every ounce and every bit of him in that song.
Brian May was also a ph.d in astrophysics and worked for NASA. He made his own guitar. Every member of the band had advanced degrees. Every member of the band wrote songs. Freddie would be in his early 70's now. No one had his talent (5 octaves), piano, composing and lyrics. That's genius baby..
So much in love with Freddie that when I watch him sing, I think he’s singing just for me! He’s won my heart and soul with his love songs. Love your reactions, thank you!
Highlander - who wants to liver forever scene - crazy intense as he being immortal and his wife not he out lives her. If you haven't seen the film - find it and watch it!. There is a LIVE performance of that song where I feel Freddie's voice is at his VERY BEST EVER. insanely strong - like a rock concert witnessing an Opera singer not do opera. There is NO ONE in the world that could do that moment like Freddie. I'll go snippet it for you.
That part you wound back to at the beginning... Always gives me chills and makes my eyes well up. This whole song goes straight through me. I could see in your reaction you were feelin' the same thing. Made me get even more dust in my eyes, man.
Who Wants To Live Forever is one of the first Queen songs I remember listening to, it is and always will be a tearjerker for me. You Take My Breath Away is a song I've discovered only recently and it quite literally took my breath away. It is THE love song if you ask me. I was honestly heartbroken when you stopped the studio version just before the part that takes the song to a whole new level, out of this world level, something only Freddie could do with his voice and talent. I hope (for your sake) that you finished listening to the complete song off-screen, you wouldn't want to rob yourself of hearing this extraordinary masterpiece. I do agree that nothing beats hearing Queen live but never assume that they won't surprise you with the studio versions. =)
Such an anthem to all the people Queen brought together. How everyone is special. All of the outcasts, the ones that believed no one understood them. Queen did. They included everyone.
Two awsome songs that can make you cry... That power. Listen to "Too Much Love Will Kill You" and "In My Defence" Both are heartblowing songs like these two!
Check out Brian May playing God Save The Queen on top of Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee celebration concert in the London. I always wonder whether our Queenie was inside complaining about the noise of the neighbors in the upstairs flat. Brian was his usual genius self and live.
Another tear jerker.....but it's Queen so it's all good. Please do The Miracle video!! It is such a wonderful song and the video will leave you with a smile and a full heart. Good job.
On Who Wants To Live Forever John Deacon was on bass. He played an upright bass close to Roger. His hair was kinda slicked back with all the grease in it. Plus Freddie has a little over a 4 octave range in his voice. That’s why he can sing anything! I absolutely love him. Another one gone too soon! Plus Freddie would be 73 this year.
In the movie "Highlander" the main character, Conner MacCloud is immortal and this song was played in the scene where his mortal wife dies. That's the emotional connection to the song.
Tearjerker?? Heck, I've been tearing up since the Trailers came out in the summer. As I've written before; I've been a fan since 1974. But I love seeing everything through a fresh set of eyes. Thank you!! So, if you want the total opposite of a tearjerker...check out "Seaside Rendezvous" totally just cute fun and a whole different genre. 💜
Please please please! Do ‘Old Friends’ by Roger Taylor from his solo work. It was a tribute to Freddie but not really a tear jerker, more of a remember and smile type song. Taylor has a great voice, and he and Freddie were particularly close, especially even before Queen started up. Plus Roger needs some appreciation. These men were collectively geniuses, they all deserve their props.
I was just listening to "Old Friends" right before watching this. I agree, I think it's a beautiful song that really gives you insight into what their friendship was like. I love the lyrics and the way Roger sings it. He sounds fantastic.
That song might not be a tearjerker but still makes me teary... People always debate who was closest friend with Freddie but in the end they all had such different special relationship. I do believe Jim calling Freddie and Roger soulmates tho. They had such a similar chaotic energy and such a long history. I also think Roger never got over being too late to see Freddie one last time. Anyway all the Queen bonds make me emotional. Sorry I kind of hijacked your comment! Erm... Yes, pls, L, check out Old Friends (especially live)!
dresden123456 Yeah, they were so cute together. We should all have someone in our lives who looks at us the way Roger looked at Freddie. Pure love and joy.
Double Queen songs reaction!!!!!! WoWoWoWoWoWoOoOoOoOoOoW!!! And such powerful and soul-touching songs...That's like a gift for Christmas, I can tell you :)
Loved your reaction as always, I've been waiting for you to do Who Wants To Live Forever! You DEFINITELY need to listen to the live version, it's absolutely beautiful!!!
Oh, and by the way, have you already heard "Love of my life", the studio version? I consider it one of the best, if not the best, Queen track ever. Just a beautififul and perfect love song by Mercury. I know you've reacted to the live version but please check out the studio version as well. Very nice production. The way the voices, the piano and the guitar all mix together. And it sounds so much like classical music. I recommend it! Bye.
Double Dose of Queen (actually a Triple)!!!! Thank you "L". TMG is the most prolific Queen reaction channel. "Who Wants to Live Forever" gets me emotional EVERY TIME. The debate of Live versus Studio is endless. Live you get stripped down raw talent (impressive). In studio you get the genius of their production which is amazing. I enjoy Studio version of Queen performing the best (a la "Save Me", "Who Wants to Live Forever", "Somebody to Love" and "Bo Rhap". By ALL means, keep the doubles coming. Thanks again.
I get so pumped when I get notified you have once again posted a Queen reaction. Even having grown up as a Queen fan, because you research before playing the song, even I’ve learned things I did not know. You’re the BEST man! I would STRONGLY ask you to react to “Is This The World We Created” Live at Wembley. There is a video live at Wembley that shows him singing “Love Of My Life”, which I know you’ve reacted to 2 other live versions of it (but the Wembley one is my favorite) & he also sings “Is This The World That We Created”. The words are just so profound & OF COURSE Freddie’s vocals are beautiful. So if you can react to the live at Wembley version of The World We Created I would of course continue to believe that YOU are helping bring Queen to the people now who have never really knew or completely appreciated all that they achieved & how incredible they were, are, and will forever be.
Thank you for giving this band such high praise ❤️ I have been into Queen since I can remember, and when my daughter is older, she will be played their music. I hope she loves them as much as her father and I do.
Thank you for playing you take my breath away! Both versions are beautiful, there is also a live version that was sung in a lower key which is equally beautiful. There is a quality in Freddie’s voice that overtakes the listener and you can see it on their face when it happens. Thanks for letting me see that! I liked the format as well.
BTW, Freddie was born in Tanzania on September 5, 1946. So, he’d be just 5 years younger then my mom. He’d have turned 73 this year. My mom wudda been 78. RIP Mommy RIP Freddie
One of the most beautiful songs of Brian May and I love it that Freddie doesn't say for ever, but fur ever. I always thought that Freddies greatest songs are his little songs, like Seaside randevouz, Lazying on a sunday afternoon, the lily of the valley, nevermore. You take my breath away is the mosr beautiful declaration of love
Let me live, I was born to love you, Too much love will kill you. those three songs are my Favourite's. Waiting for your reaction to them. Have a good day!
I've been waiting for this reaction!! One of Queen's best!! Freddie's vocals are killer but Brian also doesn't get the credit he deserves in the songs. he has great harmony. Freddie was born Sept 5, 1946 and would be 72 today! Thank you for the Reaction L!!!
Bravo to you for checking both the live and studio version of you take my breath away (you should really listen to the whole of the studio version). I find the studio version better as it incorporates all of the harmonising that cannot really be done on the live version (unless you have a choir, I guess). I did enjoy the fact that you took time to sample both live and studio versions.
Live at Wembley is the best version of the concerts on DVD. I do not like live music, I like the perfection of the studio recordings. Except Queen and Freddy Mercury at Wembley, it’s the best live version of any music I have ever heard.
I thought I loved "Love of My Life" from A Night at the Opera and then I heard THIS! I HAVE TO get Day at the Races...JUST FOR THIS SONG! It is hauntingly beautiful.

Queen were COLLECTIVELY geniuses....way ahead of their time upon inception...their music will still take people aback upon first listen for many, MANY decades to come...the beauty of music...eternal as you please!
If you’ve ever looked at a sheet of music......think of each note for every instrument involved.....pure genius.
Can you imagine being a songwriter and having it sung like THAT? These 4 men created absolute MAGIC. Rest In Peace Mr. Farenheit. 🙏🏼💖🙌🏽
I had this played at my darling husbands funeral 20 months ago, we were both huge Queen fans.
Joanne Darley so sorry you lost your husband..stay strong.
beautiful song.
I’ve said for years this is the song I want to walk down the aisle to and all my friends have said it sounds depressing, but they clearly can’t envision it the way we do 😂
No matter how many times I hear this song, I can't help but tear up. Easily in my top 5 of Queen songs.
These two together have left me speechless. Both are stunning pieces of music.
One of my favourite Queen masterpieces( Live Forever) ........Reminds me of my great friend Keith....RIP MY FRIEND & FREDDIE......🙏🏼💕🙏🏼💕
Prophet's song, trust me. Guarantee you've never heard anything like it
So much in love with Freddie that when I watch him sing, I think he’s singing just for me! He’s won my heart and soul with his love songs. Love your reactions, thank you!
Weirdly enough the song 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' was played at my brother's wedding. I chuckled when it did.
Queen is King. The talent in these 4 men was so unbelievable!!, Freddie is so missed!
That power.
Listen to "Too Much Love Will Kill You" and "In My Defence"
Both are heartblowing songs like these two!
Both of them are in my top5 of Queen
And mine😊😊😊
This song LIVE IS GOLD
Check out Brian May playing God Save The Queen on top of Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee celebration concert in the London. I always wonder whether our Queenie was inside complaining about the noise of the neighbors in the upstairs flat. Brian was his usual genius self and live.
Sandra Morris YEAH! That's killer!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I know, that’s crazy when so many people dislike great music. They DON’T know good music! Those two songs are so beautiful!
The Rio and London concerts were amazing. The crowd sang this song. Magical.
They are the first group to fuse opera and rock together! Amazing!!
@@dresden123456 😍
It is so cool that you really listen to our opinion! Your reactions are the best! You are a wonderful person))) Wait your new video))
Bye.
Yess!! Two at a time, they have a huge catalog! No complaints here.
Beautiful music, beautiful man. I love him so much
I get so pumped when I get notified you have once again posted a Queen reaction.
Great song...the sound at the end of live aid ruined it
That’s why I like Live at Wembley because you can hear it clear & crisp
Thank you for giving this band such high praise ❤️ I have been into Queen since I can remember, and when my daughter is older, she will be played their music. I hope she loves them as much as her father and I do.
I see you reacting to Queen = I hit Like (and do some major fangirling)
same he is my favorite queen reactor i love that he does research before he watches the video thats something no one does
LOL Same.
Thank you for sharing your awesome reactions with us, I appreciate it
I don't care for the studio version of "Who Wants To Live Forever." Freddie doing it solo at Wembley is fantastic.
RIP Mommy
RIP Freddie
One of the most beautiful songs of Brian May and I love it that Freddie doesn't say for ever, but fur ever. I always thought that Freddies greatest songs are his little songs, like Seaside randevouz, Lazying on a sunday afternoon, the lily of the valley, nevermore. You take my breath away is the mosr beautiful declaration of love
Let me live, I was born to love you, Too much love will kill you. those three songs are my Favourite's. Waiting for your reaction to them. Have a good day!
There can only be one.... is what I said to my eyes as they started producing tears....
Loved your reaction bruh, maybe you even had your wedding in your mind or your wife and kids when you heard "You Take My Breath Away". So nice ✨
One of the best songs ever made.
I'm with you Lamar - you are right at Hyde Park he exposes his *soul* during this song. Crazy vulnerable.
Freddie + piano 🎵♥️
Forever Freddie ❤
Forever Queen ❤
As I am listening to the first song, there is a thunderstorm roaring outside, one hell of a background/accompaniment to the orchestra. Wow.
Please react to Who Wants To Live Forever - live at Wembley
It's really awesome but i prefer the live at Budapest version. Freddies voice is on Point there
Yes yes yes live at Wembly please
Live at Wembley is the best version of the concerts on DVD. I do not like live music, I like the perfection of the studio recordings. Except Queen and Freddy Mercury at Wembley, it’s the best live version of any music I have ever heard.
I thought I loved "Love of My Life" from A Night at the Opera and then I heard THIS! I HAVE TO get Day at the Races...JUST FOR THIS SONG! It is hauntingly beautiful.
