Thank you! My husband and I are full time RV travelers. Our rig started squealing a little as we climb hills. So today we get to do this job. New tensioner, belt and tool ready to get it done . Waiting on the day to warm a bit. 24° right now 😊
Thanks ! I have a 2018 Forester with E450 wit 6000 miles on it. Been chasing the “Pinging sound “ since we bought it with 2800 miles. Just found the thread talking about the Pinging/Knock noise being the missing Idler Pulley. Picked up the Idler pulley and Ford bolt coming in the mail today !! Has the original Serp belt , so hoping this fixes it! I don’t think I need to replace the Tensioner unless it was weakened
@@mytwogoodhands2799It sure did !!! Amazing , feels like a totally different vehicle without having to constantly hear that noise and back off on the gas to get it to stop. Took me 10 minutes. Thanks again !
I think I need to replace my tensioner as well. When I accelerate on the freeway, there is a squeek now. Normal driving seem to be ok so I'm assuming the belt or tensioner is starting to give. Great video, thanks.
Thanks for the comment, yes the tensioner could be the source if you did the belt and still have the issue. It is worth taking the belt off and turning the water pump, alternator, power steering pump and air pump if it has one to be sure they are smooth to turn. Good video very informative and clear. I would recommend trimming some parts out of it. There's alot of dead space for an instructional video, feels more like blog
Thank you for the comment I will remember that for future videos, Please subscribe to the channel. I did make more changes to the belt system as the noise returned watch that one there is the right belt and the wrong belt to use. Thanks Steve
Thank you I'm going to attempt this tomorrow in the woods My belt is super loose and falling off and my RV died I thought it was the alternator but I looked at it running once I got it started after trickle charging in the belt is just flopping around
@@mytwogoodhands2799 Thanks again for the tips and leading me to more useful information. My belt had actually snapped and it got burned in a few spots so I checked things and my AC compressor pulley seized. Pull the cover off and bearings and chunks of metal were falling out so that whole system is shot I'm going to see if I can just bypass it with a shorter belt and if that doesn't work I already ordered the bypass pulley for the compressor that you have to remove It doesn't matter at this point because that whole system is shot and needs to be rebuilt Hopefully Ford will warranty it as it's only 6 month old repair from Ford dealer
@@gideonsanfrancisco Check this out as you do the work Ford makes a Great V10, but I learned that you can't just put any old aftermarket part on it in some cases! I had this belt noise, and I did a lot to fix it, I did win the battle and she is now Quite as a Mouse. The OEM solution just took time to find! th-cam.com/video/gdYT-bSSnRw/w-d-xo.html
You may also want to add an additional idler pulley to the lower right of the alternator. There's a threaded boss there for one. Ford deleted it years ago. I put one on my V10 Excursion. When I replaced my tensioner, I used the bolt off the pulley from the old tensioner for that additional idler pulley and it fits. The additional idler pulley was the same as the one on the left side of the alternator.

I moved the cover from over the radiator to get more room to put on the belt .
Yes you can get more room to work that way, thanks for sharing the tip
@@mytwogoodhands2799 No problem ,U welcome .
What year is your E350 may I ask. Mine is a 2018 and makes the same noise.
Mine is a 2016 with the V10 engine Thanks for watching if you use the Amazon shopping links to buy anything it helps support the channel. Steve

@@johnhwang339 I did that in this video th-cam.com/video/gdYT-bSSnRw/w-d-xo.html
It was hard to tell the noise because the engine noise was tooo loud to hear the problem!
Thanks for the comment since the noise is gone new footage is not possible
Then next time take consideration for the viewer , slow down a bit thanks
👍
Not good. Don't show how to get wrench on tensioner. Just show after it is off. Did not help me much.
Sorry no room for camera and tools and hands in there at same time, Steve
terrible video.. did not show how to do anything
Very hard to video in the space and have my hands in there to, thanks for the comment
