This is better than the first recording (I believe actually the 2nd night of the series) because that's the night that the "vil bastarda" got applause ...and there's no applause at that point on this excerpt. I just think jaws dropped because the first night was the opening of the Maggio Musicale ...the true opera nuts always go the subsequent evenings. Plus this was the first time that Maria Stuarda was being done in decades ....so most people didn't know what to expect.
