"So the evening and the morning were the first day" has to be one of the most misleading translations in the first chapter of Genesis.
It has led millions of Sabbath keepers to misinterpret the Sabbath beginning at evening, when a day actually begins in the morning!
The Hebrew reads "wayehi (and there came to be) erev (evening), wayehi (and there came to be) boqer (morning), yom echad (day one/unified)."
Because the phrase begins with "...and" it is a follow on from the creation of the Light, thus a Biblical "day" is"
    LIGHT - EVENING - MORNING
Because this is a cycle and the END is dawn, it is clear that the end of a cycle is also the BEGINNING of the next, thus a "day" begins and ends in the MORNING.
    Nice reading otherwise :)
Please continue, and when you get to Genesis chapter 2 remember "the LORD" is a substitutionary term for the Name above all names: YAHWEH (Heb: יהוה)

Thank you for this information! I confess I have always understood the Hebrew day to begin in the evening and even the musical Fiddler on the Roof really leans that way. But what you are suggesting makes a lot of sense, especially if His mercies are new every morning!

@@IsaacGrosse - I think it's important to receive the full blessing of rest on the Sabbath, and I have met hundreds over the years who have been "freed" from chasing the sundown.
I made a series on all the Texts that clearly show a day starts at dawn if you're interested:
