Learn about painting with Canadian landscape painters Men Who Paint (Greg Hargarten, Cam Forrester, Paul Trottier, Roger Trottier and Ken Van Rees) as they paint the Canadian Shield from the boat at Lac La Ronge in Northern Saskatchewan. Since their formation in 2007, Men Who Paint have embraced plein air painting. Inspired by the work and adventurous spirit of the early Canadian painters, the group, until recently, has spent most of their painting time outdoors.
Their travels have seen them at many Canadian locations and abroad, including Northern Germany, British Columbia's Haidi Gwaii Archipelago, Alberta's Banff National Park and Peter Lougheed Provincail Park, Ontario’s Algonquin Park, Yukon’s Ivvavik National Park, Saskatchewan's Prince Albert National Park, Emma Lake, La Ronge and Cypress Hills.

I first got out on July 26 of this year to plein air paint and since have produced about 50 pieces. I am hooked Greg. And thanks for the video of you guys getting out there. This was a great informative piece.
Great to hear! There is definitely something special about plein air. It really forces an artist to be in the moment. I do love the studio as well, but there is no time to be finicky or precious when you're outdoors. You just need to get at the heart of the matter!

Thanks! That's very cool that you have a summer place near Madoc. We painted in Algonquin and Georgian Bay a couple of years ago. Not too far from your neck of the woods. Beautiful area! :) Sorry about the pronunciation!
