HAY Martin are you going to put a moisture barrier down on the dirt so your cabin will not rot out over time so your sun or daughter do not have to fix the floor when they are older ? just a thought
It’s funny how most of the people criticizing can’t even change a tire yet this man is building a home for his family keep doing you man I’m just trying to figure out how to run plumbing in a two story log cabin😭
I'm in Europe at present and am behind on the vlogs... so I just binge watched 4 vlogs.. and feel like I just watched an off grid movie. Lol. Awesome job guys !!!!!!!
I would have installed a clean out that also goes to the house. That clean out will only work for a clog from the house to septic. Duel direction clean outs are great. The one you installed works for passing inspection but the duel is a lifesaver if you have it. Great video though. It's looking good. I've worked in apartment maintenance for 23 years and my multi tool is the only tool I won't be without. Plus a small pair of adjustable plyers. P.S fly old glory high and proud.
In my previous video I showed a diagram of our plumbing and there is another 3 inch clean out at the end of the 3 inch line. That is what the inspector wanted so that is what he gets. Ha ha ha ha. He’s the master here.
Doing a great job Martin. Now Plummer before that construction carpenter, before that ground worker, before that lumberjacker. Julie and kids must be really happy having a handyman like you. 😉
A tub full of water is quite heavy. You need to reinforce the cut joist and some codes require an additional joist under the tub. If your code doesn’t require that addition joist, you may want to install one anyway.
@@baronratfish3865 What point of failure do you see that hasn't been corrected? It's a very basic crawl space drainage system into a really close by septic. Hi Martin, i have seen people doing rough-in plumbing first then foundation and framing and then rough in electric. whats your take on it, and what according to you is the correct order for smooth construction process.?
For your clean-out you should install double clean-outs AKA bull horn clean-out. You are good for snaking down to the septic tank but what about back into the house?
Martin Johnson - Off Grid Living horizontal to vertical doesn’t require long sweeps.Gravity will speed it up. It’s vertical to horizontal that needs them since the flow will slow at that transition
No double clean out? I may have been too late yesterday. You have been in the crawlspace TOO long if the glue smells good. I debur with wirecutters, both sides at once. Collect all your vent pipes in the attic for just one penetration in the roof, and make it up high by the ridge so snow doesn't pile up and break it off. Makes PROs cringe cause you just did their job without the years of apprenticeship. Good job.
I am enjoying following your build. I am wondering about the depth requirement for sewer in Idaho. When living in Minnesota, we had to have sewer drain pipes wither 6’ or 8’ down for freeze line. Is that not necessary at your location. Never fear, I am not a professional. Haha. I can do plumbing if I have to. Cheers!
HAY Martin are you going to put a moisture barrier down on the dirt so your cabin will not rot out over time so your sun or daughter do not have to fix the floor when they are older ? just a thought
For northern Idaho I would think it gets pretty cold. Doesn't seem like your sewer line is deeper than the frost line. Hope you don't have problems with that.
Idaho frost line are 40 to 24 inches averaging 31" in most places since the pipe was about 6 inches buried and he will backfill on top of that his foundation is 4 CB or 32" set on a footing backfill would be around 26" should leave 6 " from top of foundation for water reasons he would have around 32" of ground coverage 🤔 on the pipe just making it unless he is far north past Lewiston.
You should set and plumb in your tub now. I'd change out the short radius elbows you installed, especially where you have 3 in close proximity to each other.
