Premise: The brutal stabbing murder of a justice-of-the-peace sparks an investigation of dark family secrets in a sleepy small town in Southern California.

Wow so glad you reviewed this film. I was in seventh grade and went to my neighborhood movie theater to see this movie. My parents would not let me see Psycho but I was allowed to see this. It scared me so much ( the stabbing of the justice of the peace) and I felt so uncomfortable but attracted at the same time to the double role (male- female). As a young Catholic teen who did not know that I would end up being gay this film stayed with me since that time as one of the most influential film experiences of my life.

Really enjoyed this teaming. Definitely going to check out the content on both of your channels. The mute wheelchair bound woman was played by Eugenie Leontovich, who played the Dowager Empress Marie in the stage version of "Anastasia", which in turn was portrayed by Helen Hayes in the 1956 film starring Ingrid Bergman.
Two other fun Castle films to check out- "The Night Walker"('64)w/Barbara Stanwyck & "I Saw What You Did"('65)w/Joan Crawford. This was Fun!👏

I live in a small town in NJ with less than 200 people. And yes everyone knows everyone. Someone moves or loses their house its talk of the town. Someone's septic backs up? We all hear about it. I've escaped to online places as well as most people don't share my two loves. Books and movies.

So glad you liked this movie. I saw this at age 12 with my 8 year old brother in Moore OK (your guest probably knows this place). My folks went square dancing and dropped us off at the movies so Homicidal was our baby sitter😂. You didn’t mention the brutal evisceration of the justice of the peace. My brother talks about this to this day. Surely my folks didn’t know what they were dropping us into🤔🥴😂. I agree that it was accidentally ahead of its time.

Somebody reacted to this movie? I’m pleasantly surprised. I love this type of movie. when I saw it for the first time, I kept thinking something was weird about That little boy’s teeth and his mouth.
I love this movie so much. And while I enjoy William Castle's movies, none of them compare to this gem, including House On Haunted Hill. It's even better than, dare I say, Psycho. There, I said it. Thanks so much for the review.
Straight jacket was William Castle? I watched that movie and didn’t realize it was his movie. I’m a Joan Crawford fan so that’s why I watched it.
This was fun. I have never seen this film, going to check it out. This sounds like it would be fantastic to watch in the cinema with a group of friends.

Shout out to our tiny towns out there. He seemed cool. He likes Chucky so I'm down with that. I think you guys would like the Chucky series. The young man is a gay character. He's coming into his own in high school but he's got a killer doll. Awesome show. Also, this movie sounds cool. I might check it out based on the comparable films mentioned.
We did start the Chucky series and enjoyed it - just have to find time to finish it.
