I understand what you're saying about the price of oil filters from the dealer. In a similar vein, I just bought some Stihl bar and chain oil for my Stihl chainsaw. I had bought a quart of chain oil a couple months ago and paid $6.95 at the dealer who is not bashful about charging premium prices. The same quart of bar oil was over $19 at Amazon and the gallon size was over $43. I went back to the local dealer and the quart is still $6.95 and the gallon size is $19.95. I bought the gallon of Stihl chain oil at the local dealer and saved a LOT of money as compared with Amazon.

I added some low Velosity to my 318 today BUT not sure what fluid was already
In it.. at I screwed or am I ok??

You should be fine. In most respected ATF Type F, Hygard, and Low Vis Hygard can be used mostly interchangeably. Adding a little bit of one to the other will not make a huge difference.

How much fluid does it hold? Which transaxle do you think is better 317, or 318 style more reliable or better built if you have had them apart?

Doesn't mean that is when it was changed, but that old filter is at least from 1999. It has the old Deere logo on it.

I tried digging around to see if I could find some dates and I am not sure if it is the case here, but Deere carried the 1969 logo well into the 2000's on some filters and parts. The AM39653c is a newer designation, I just don't know when the "c" was placed on there.

Can someone tell me what the 2 hydraulic switches under the seat do

Switches or valves? Do you have two outlets at the back of the tractor?

I got a 140 and want to add that transparent oil tube, to see the level. That´s no problem, but how does the casing breath, if everything ist closed?

On a 317 there is a small fuel filter in the line with a tiny
      hole drilled in it.

@@gregolson5532 That´s the information I needed, so it needs a vent somewhere

    • @gregolson5532
      @gregolson5532 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@Protorix Yes a very tiny hole. The filter is placed at the highest part of the tube. Fluid never makes it that high. Unless you roll it maybe. LOL!

Brantley made a kit for 314/317 back in the day. Last one unused I saw on E-bay was $2400. I missed a 314 that had it for $600 last summer. Some have retro fitted 400 and 318 power steering units but this is a lot of work.

Do you have a video on replacing a seal on the pump rear seal shaft that would connect to a rear pto thanks

Buddy that filter in the site tube , is not a filter in actuality it is the breather for the rear end.. if you dont have that you will blow out the wheel seals and other gaskets. If you look at the “Filter” it has a hole in it so it can breath ..they say the hole is supposed to be facing up but i put mine sideways towards the frame so water doesn’t get into it.. but you “Must “ have a breather in that tube..

Both mine have it. I think he does he just didn't replace the upper part of the line.

Is that a crack in the case at that end cap above the tube?
