THE TRUE LISTENER WITHIN IS GOD-LIKE, ALWAYS ALERT - Nisargadatta Maharaj - Audiobook - lomakayu

  • THIS IS PART THIRTEEN OF SELF-LOVE: THE ORIGINAL DREAM
    Original talks of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj in Marathi compiled by
    Shri Dinkar Kshirsagar
    . Translated from the Marathi book Atmaprem by
    Mohan Gaitonde.
    "You must listen to this talk with utmost attention - just as you would
    while getting information about your pay hike. Don’t worry if you are
    unable to understand what is told here. When you eat your food, you don’t
    know how it gets digested and how it becomes a part of the body. Similarly, even if you don’t understand my words, there is something in you that understands, and that is identical to me and has the capacity to understand. The true listener inside is God-like and always alert. When we know ‘we are’, there is existence. You may believe yourself to be very insignificant like an ant or a worm, but the listener in you is going to become purer by listening, without your knowledge." ~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

      @@cristiclaudiuMaharaja's every word is nectar. And by the way his message is not "self", that is just the provisional place he directs people to so they can narrow down the field. His real message is you are not even self. You are everything and nothing. You are the ground of being as is every other individuated "thing". All there is is phenomena arising from the timeless stillness and whatever arises is in time and so also falls away. But you are that which is all the arising and all non-arising. "Stillness and repose" as Saint Thomas put it,. Just keep listening -- to any of his work. He never makes a false move or a sham comment. He's everything. I bow to his feet and believe me I'm not the type. "Keep going . . ." is one of his favorite expressions. So just keep going, friend.

    Does anyone know if Niz ever commented on Vipassana, the Buddha's original teaching? It is odd that he never would have mentioned that, or that no one ever brought it up in all those decades. Yet, I have never come across any such mention here, or in Ramana's corpus either for that matter.

    • @garypuckettmuse
      @garypuckettmuse 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Everything he says is vipassana. It is said he's an advaita and that is true, so far as it goes, but his lineage was sadampa which is intertwined with Shaivism. I personally hear a lot of Dzogchen in his words although Buddhism had permeated "Hinduism" thoroughly I think Dzogchen only came out of Tibet in the 1950's. But remember Maharaj died in the 1980's so there is every reason to believe he had familiarity with vipassana and Dzogchen but he wasn't a method teacher or intellectual,he was more, way more direct. He taught the method he used which was doing exactly what his guru told him to do, knowing it was right and believing there was no more direct path or truth. Of course he had been a seeker for decades and decades prior to meeting his teacher.. PS I didn't know that vipassana was the Buddha's "original" teaching (Turning the first wheel) but you'd know more about that than I do for sure. Niz occasionally mentions the Gita but I've never known him to mention any second hand stories about anything -- such as what the buddha may or may not have said. Also Buddhism was not practiced per se in India (there were and are always a few . . .) in the 20th century. Other than the Tibetains bringing it with them when they exiled from Tobet and they seem to have mostly stuck to themselves as they are visitors in India and now with Modi promoting what he promotes it's definitely best to be Hindu in India..

      Contemplate it this way..
      The Absolute is beyond subject-object duality. This can be considered as Nothing, Everything, Both, Neither..
      This is not information or religious belief, this is a “practice” for transcending duality and recognizing the true nature. All concepts like God and Life and Death, self, I Am are just concepts that form the veil. Pull it back. I understand “Nothingness” to kind of mean “nothing can be said about that state” because it is not witnessed, it is just what you ARE and from where everything springs forth and eventually returns 🙏
