I was in goonswarm when it happened, btw thats where my bee avatar comes from.
The thing is Sean was our head diplomat which means he handled relationships and disputes with other alliances. He played eve sometimes but his role as diplomat could be done through out of game communications like jabber. Which is where he was when the fighting started. The FBI actually asked us for the chat logs, you can probably find them online.
We used to give him a hard time cause we thought he would exaggerate his circumstances. Like dude youre an IT guy haha.
Several times before this he had to disconnect cause things were happening but he always came back, even before Libya. This had been going on for years.
We weren't very close but we spoke several times and he was always cool. Mostly knew him from posting on our alliance forums. We still have stations named after him and lots of videos from eve online here on TH-cam reacting to his death and various tributes.
My favorite was the jump portal generator. When you turn one on a tiny blue dot appears on the star map where you opened it. We lit so many it damn near covered the whole galaxy. Anyone who open the map that night was stunned.

Army vet here, so happy someone finally reacted to this movie. It deserves so much more attention than it got/gets. It's Michael Bay, so overdone explosions from RPGs and other munitions, but that's Hollywood in general. From what I've gathered about the situation it's pretty true to the events that happened. I'm not going to bother to get political as many others have already done that, but it's a damn shame there was no US support during any of this.

I was thinking the same thing, no one ever reacts to the actual movie. They just react to the trailer or they just speak about the movie in a review. Then people talk about how its a boring movie and that theres not constant action as if its a movie made for entertainment purposes instead what it actually is. A movie telling a story of true events about real people.
The movie effects were pretty far fetched. Dude gets hit with an M249 and gets sent flying, smoke trails behind a 40mm GL round the unrealistic arc from the 40mm grenades, the fire ball style explosions. But it still tells the story well.

When asked under Senate investigation about what could have or should have been done to help these men, Hillary Clinton responded, “what difference does it make?” That’s how much the government cares about you. This isn't just a "movie", it is very accurate as to what actually happened. Sean Smith was the IT guy at the diplomatic outpost. Sean was known as Vile Rat in the mmo game Eve Online. I never met him in person, but I had chatted with him numerous times online. I believe that he and the ambassador could have been saved if the contractors had been allowed to respond when it first kicked off. It is a shame that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would not allow any U.S. military to respond. I'm a Viet Nam vet and no man is supposed to be left behind. I was really pissed at the end of the movie when they would not allow the contractors, or their dead buddies get on the plane. They had to wait for a U.S. plane to come for them.

So Bob, the incompetent CIA leader in this film, is what intelligence people call a CIA case officer or staff operations officer, someone who works in intelligence gathering of covert operations overseas. Many CIA case officers have paramilitary training, but for the most part, they are not soldiers or military personnel on the front lines like many of the former special operations guys depicted in this film. The CIA has an extensive history of using private military companies, i.e., contractors/mercenaries (who are usually former U.S military special operations), to do a lot of their paramilitary work and, in the case of Benghazi, were tasked with protecting CIA infastructure and employees. That being said, the CIA does have their own employees who are tasked with engaging in paramilitary operations - activities similar to what is depicted in this film. They are called paramilitary operations officers and they are part of a branch/divison of the CIA called the Special Activies Divison/Center.

Kris Paronto has his own podcast called Battleline Podcast, and he had on a woman named Sarah Adams who was a CIA targeter who worked with him in Benghazi but she rotated out before the attacks. Really good listen if you want to learn more.
She brought new information to light, one being that the base chief, Bob, was apparently very inexperienced and was told by the Feb 17 commander in a phone call that he was not sending any of his men to help, so he in fact lied to the GRS team that Feb 17 was coming through the whole ordeal.
Also meaning that the two young guys that Kris and Boon picked up were not Feb 17 but just two random kids that offered to tag along 😂

"You can't put a price on being able to live with yourself."
Fun Fact: John Krasinski and David Denman previously worked together in The Office (2005), playing the characters of Jim and Roy.
Location Location Fact: According to producer Erwin Stoff, the diplomatic compound and CIA annex were built using the actual plans. They used actual plans and satellite images of the original structures in Benghazi. They replicated both the annex and the diplomatic mission exactly to the inch. Malta is where much of the movie was filmed.
Spies Like Us Fact: 13 Hours (2016) is one of the best depictions of actual spy work on film. Assets are hired, often without realizing it by undercover agents, to steal or collect information. Agents recruit people to collect information, giving them a degree of separation. Agents often operate a front business to launder money though, which has given raise to accusations of criminal activities by agents. Analysts takes the information and filters it to make sure it's legitimately useful.

The contractors, GRS which stands for Global Response staff have to have a certain amount of years in the military preferably with Special Operations and then have to go through a separate schoolhouse and pass with very high scores. Love your channel guys and great reactions. I wonder if you will look into a veterans movie named "The Park is Mine ". It stars Tommy Lee Jones and he's a Vietnam vet who takes over central park in New York. Has action and his reason is deep for what vets maybe dealing with. Have a great day and thanks.

Great "intense" action movie. Personally I love John Krasinski, mostly because he married the woman of my dreams lol. Michael Bay is a great action movie director who actually started his career making music videos. He is widely known for all the 'Transformer' movies, but my favorites are 'The Rock', 'Bad Boys' and 'The Island'. Oh yeah, and let's not forget 'Armageddon'. Totally worth watching.

I think his worse movie was “Pearl Harbor” about how Imperial Japan meticulously and quite deceitfully orchestrated one of the world’s most devastating attacks on a U.S. Army Air Corps love triangle.
“13 Hours” more than makes up for that in my opinion and gets Michael Bay off my shite list. This is a great, historically accurate film. I’m am so grateful we have men like this keeping the world safe at the greatest costs imaginable.

So the whole “I call attackers” thing. When the people overthrew Gaddafi control of Lydia basically split between semi friendly semi warring rival factions. And each faction were essentially terrorist groups. When the CIA started doing covert work there leading up to this, they coordinated with a friendlier group called the “February 17th Martyrs Brigade.” Feb 17 being the day Gaddafi was ousted. The other faction that consolidated power and basically took the rest of the country was the Ansar al-Sharia, which was essentially a branch of the Taliban. So all the different factions all know each other and they’re al technically “bad guys,” just some are a little more friendly than others.
That’s also why all the “cops” ran when the attack started. They have no obligation to be there, and many of them would just get picked up by another faction and start fighting anyway.

This movie made me both immensely proud of our fighting men and disgusted and ashamed of our government. They left those people to die and had there not been any survivors there would have been no other side of the story being told.

As a Vet (Army, 11B) and a former Embassy Security team member this movie hits a little closer for me as a worse case situation that we could face. and with how all the stuff leading up too / during / after for this attack is alot of BS. then to have these guys fired by the CIA while in Germany right after being pulled out then left there as they had no $$ or passports , so a U.S. Senator had to go and personnel get them out and bring them back to the U.S.(from what i heard on the down low) there was so much BS

CIA has analysts, most of the station staff were analysts. One or two were operations officer, spooks but still not military. The para military wing of the CIA is called SAD special activities division, there was one guy in that movie, the man that was in Tripoli that came with 2 delta operators. All the good guys were actually GRS global response staff, ex-spec op types contracted by the CIA to act as station bodyguards, drivers, & babysitters.
