I still shed a tear when I hear that song. Always reminds me of when you came to play in our friend Carrie Adkin 's garden a couple of days before she died from breast cancer. On a weekend.... In Swindon... In the middle of festival season two weeks before Glastonbury 2014. I can never express how grateful we all continue to be for your time and generosity. Thank you Newton. You're a good man. Pint?
In 2008 I took your music with me on my vacation (I'm German) to the Canary Islands... every year since then. Now I'm 52 years old and I will always associate your voice with a good time. The album “Hand build my Robots” is still there and timeless. Thanks for that.😘
I also wake up to this song. It’s so soothing to wake up to. I mostly fall asleep and cry to this song. But I’ve gotten several coworkers and clients hooked because of this song on the playlist. The playlist is gone now. It doesn’t matter. I know you speak to me. I love the idea of something to catch me. But we catch ourselves and can rely on no one.
Naww this has got early-late 00s vibe and framework through the whole way. It wasn't such a huge shift in pop, and some newer, but less "POP"-like songs/singles, were helping redefine parts of the genres (which maybe can be subgenres?), or doing alternatives to emo-acoustic, but not yet the Americana-folky-pop-indie bullshit that became intoxicating to all white people above the poverty line. They were their own vibe. Like still optimistic millennials, not yet destroyed by depression or trauma or were one of the lucky ones who had the tools to keep it in check and enough talent to write or sing their way out of persistent suicidal ideation but not have to take creative-numbing medications/SSRIs/SNRIs/tricyclics antidepressants at high dosages just to tolerate reality. But sometimes they still did small crimes. Like Howie Day was a woman-beater. Not just innocent white people. Like they were hurt and hurting other people. Or hurt because they were neglected or taught toxic masculinity + weak parents, and their socioeconomic status, allowed the criminality to fester sans accountability. But regardless many were good people. And you see that in their songs. Even if all of them weren't the top of stratospherically socially conscious, or bottom of Earth's crust-DEEP, they were producing art and arguably talking about vulnerabilities and social problems most hadn't touched yet, or had given up or forgotten about, in songs. Those didn't always land in the mainstream. Not just love songs. Even most socially conscious current artists mainly sing about love, their dick, their pussy, ass, wealth, inherent social value, or wanting one or all of those things. The ones still most socially conscious and driving forward progressive change and at least semi-original ideas, at least because they read some deep shit or are smart enough to poetically speak to deep shit we all can relate to, or at least groups not regularly recognized. But we've been doing the dick, pussy, money, power shit for a long time, and the lyrics aren't getting better, they're getting worse. It's like the pinnacle of gangster rap or which Eminem was one of several whom signaled the fundamental change in style and message. Of vibe and aesthetics. Idk WTF I'm going with this comment anymore. Too high to come back down soon. Like past atmosphere, "close to 1st Lagrange Point" - level - of - high🍃

Flow, les rêves peuvent devenir réalité.... Juste un signe...
Somehow it is evocative of the 1990s. Something I'll be forever grateful for. It is a beautiful song in its own right of course. Just sayin'.

You have my heart and I hope you make it beat more
Feel like this is the perfect definition of right person wrong time
I know you left this comment a year ago.. But oosh, I feel this! 😢 *sigh*
20 yrs ago, and he still takes up too much room in my mind.
This has been a favourite song of mine since my childhood, I still love it, it’s just so good.
It really is so good. My parents would play it all the time when I was younger and it has so many wonderful memories attached to it.
Now I feel old.
The Noughties had all the best songs like this one
Very naughty
