  • McDowell Mountain Regional Park is a 21,099-acre desert park in the lower Verde River basin. Elevations in the park rise to 3,000 feet along the western boundary at the base of the McDowell Mountains. There are over 50 miles of multi-use trails in the park with great views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
The North Trail in the northeast corner of the park is a 2.6-mile loop trail. The elevation change is 138 feet, but that is so gradual that you feel the trail is essentially flat. It is rated as easy. I hiked the trail on November 24, 2023, and I found the trail almost deserted. Nice.
Enjoy my video of my visit to the North Trail in McDowell Mountain Regional Park.
