Seeing that picture of Robert Plant on the wall reminded me that he lived in Austin for 10 years. I was at a restaurant "County Line" in Austin and looked at the table next to me and it was Robert Plant with some friends. He realized I recognized him and he put his index finger to his lips and we smiled at each other. Great moment.
Isn't it weird and exciting seeing someone like Robert Plant unexpectedly in a regular place. You want to act normal yet at the same time scream OMG it's ROBERT PLANT!!
@@KittyCarlile-490 I was in Austin for business with clients and I looked over and said to myself "That guy looks like Robert Plant." I heard him speak and I said "That's him." He felt my eyes on him and looked over at me then held his finger up to his lips to be quiet. He deserved his privacy.

I saw TJW interviewed in Australia and he spoke of his love for Tina Turner who helped clean him up and stay alive. He also spoke the songs Tina Turner recorded of his and Elvis wanting his songs. When TJW toured here he played small venues with only his drummer and encouraged people up on stage with him. Dang... I live in Austin now and was going to try and catch your next performance. Completely missed this was happening. BUT... ironically I was just up in Dallas at DFW yesterday and it was a long day driving there and back. Pretty funny, that if I had a (Global Entry) interview at DFW today (Wednesday October 23) - I might have crossed paths with the band. I was literally in the lobby of the DFW airport hotel yesterday as part of trying to find the Global Entry office. Maybe NEXT time!

Hi, Leland. Met you in Waterloo Records in 2017 when you were in town with Judith Owen. We were invited on the bus for some music and beer. You kindly cleared off your amp and offered me a place to sit. We later talked about Charles Ives for a bit in the store afterwards. I work at High End Systems who supply the house lighting and controllers for ACL.
London Homesick Blues "Austin City Limits theme song." 1st verse Well, when you're down on your luck, and you ain't got a buck, in London you're a goner. Even London Bridge has fallen down, and moved to Arizona, now I know why. And I'll substantiate the rumor that the English sense of humor is drier than than the Texas sand. You can put up your dukes, and you can bet your boots that I'm leavin' just as fast as I can. Chorus I wanna go home with the arma [Am] dillo Good country music from Ama rillo and Abi lene The friendliest people and the prettiest women you've ever [G] seen. 2nd Verse Well, it's cold over here, and I swear I wish they'd turn the heat on. And where in the world is that English girl I promised I would meet on the third floor. And of the whole damn lot, the only friend I've got is a smoke and a cheap guitar. My mind keeps roamin', my heart keeps longin' to be home in a Texas bar. Chorus 3rd Verse Well, I decided that I'd get my cowboy hat and go down to Marble Art Station. 'Cause when a Texan fancies, he'll take his chances. Chances will be taken, that's for sure. And them Limey eyes, they were eyein' the prize that some people call manly footwear. And they said you're from down South, and when you open your mouth, you always seem to put your foot there. Repeat chorus 'til the cows come home.
OMG hilarious! I live in Austin, and I think it's common practice to just walk across the street regardless of the stoplights. SXSW they just close off the streets... Willie statue story: One night, we were waiting to get inside, cars would drive by that intersection and honk (probably at other drivers or pedestrians..) and we joked "Hey, they must love Willie Nelson!" Ever since then, no matter where we are, whenever we hear someone honk, we say "Must be a Willie Nelson fan!!"
While I appreciate the architecture of most of the other theatres .... ... there's something about the black interior that gives it incredible depth.... It would be an amazing place to play , or see a band...

The stage doesn't look the same when I watch Austin City Limits on PBS
It can be reconfigured as needed.
Just curious--why is your shared dressing room identified as Stumpy Joe and Spooney Lee? Is there a story behind this?
Stumpy Joe is the character that Russ played in Spinal Tap and Spooney Lee is what James Taylor referred to me on his Mudslide Slim album.
I see Lyle is doing a show at the Royal Albert Hall in January. Will the band be with him?
We do not know. Still being sorted out.
Hope it wasn’t too moody. 🤔
