Nice breakdown! I'm just getting into jerkbait fishing and (inevitably) Vision 110 stuff (have bought two thus far), but I've had the time to do some research already now that we're frozen over in mid Sweden. I think I have an OK grip on the color categories, but the main thing that tricks me and that doesn't always say in the color name is if the coating is semi-seethrough or not. As far as I know the MG colors stand for Mirror (or Metallic) Ghost meaning it's a metallic coating but slightly transparent "in between" the bits of metallic. That Wagin Ayu one looks exactly like that when you rotate it, but you wouldn't know from its color name since it lacks "MG", and if you only look at a product picture online it looks just like a plain full coating. All the GG colors are "full" coatings without any transparency though, is that safe to say? I don't have any physical shop nearby where I can check them out, that's why I need to research before ordering any online 🙂 (and also why this type of breakdown becomes very helpful)
Thank you, I know that all of the color types can get confusing. Here’s some information that I found online. GP" (Guanium Phantom): This is a common prefix in Megabass color names, referring to a subtle, reflective layer that gives a natural flash without being overly flashy. In Megabass lure color names, abbreviations often indicate the type of finish or reflective quality the lure has, with "M" usually signifying a metallic finish, “p" representing a pearl mica base, and "GP" meaning "Guanium Phantom" which is a subtle reflective layer with a transparent side view; these can be combined with other color names to describe the overall appearance of the lure. * In Megabass lure color coding, "GG" stands for "Guanium Ghost," which refers to a special finish that utilizes guanine, a naturally occurring substance found in fish scales, to create a reflective flash that mimics the appearance of baitfish under water. * M- “Metal”: This is a foiled material for imitating fish scales, and it's solid or opaque, not translucent. Mirror-like reflectivity. * Wagin- Japanese for Silver. I hope that helps, Mark
Saw the Smithwick Pro Rogues are back, in the FX colors. Read that the Pro was in high demand for the short time that they brought it back (last time). Do you know anything about them?
@@northeastbassfishing1501 Okay thanks. I was thinking there was a distinction between the Pro and the Rattling. It may have just been the 5.5" Pro that was in high demand a few years ago.
@@northeastbassfishing1501 Makes sense I think all bass love thoses perch color's like that I used to catch alot of bass on perch color alot in Columbia,North Carolina
Agreed, I mean I do like to experiment with new and different colors. The Northern Secret color from Megabass was very productive for me last year and I love the Pro Blue, and Pro Blue II.
@@northeastbassfishing1501 Do you have any of the Rebel Smithwick jerkbait in any of the Frank Scallish color themes he's really smart how he goes about thoses color themes. I started doing some soft plastic's in new color's and it made me think outside the box more. I have soft plastic worm color's with my own personal twist. The color's I came up with on my soft plastic's I have been fishing for an long time so I was like I have a few trick's up my sleeve too so now I have color's in soft plastic's that aren't even out on the market yet.
Suprised to not see any og's in your collection.... Try all you want, only a fool would even consider trying to get all colors as Megabass releases new ones all the time and at this point there must be hundreds some of which are extremely limited.
Oh I know, with all of the respect series coming out all the time it’s essentially impossible to keep up. I’ll grab the colors I want to try here and there, but at $25 a pop unless I win the lottery I’ll never have them all.
Let's nerd out on colors Mark.😂
Haha…..we definitely will!
Spawn Cherry and GP Pro Perch are 🔥🔥🔥 for me here in Michigan.
Great colors or sure.
Good video Mark I definitely learned something today didn’t know all of the abbreviation meanings
Thanks Clint, I’m still getting the hang of all of them myself.
Awesome video
Thank you, glad you liked it.
Look up the sp/c color Great Lakes perch👍👍
That’s a beautiful color, hard to find though.
Mat Pro blue is that limited edition color you were looking 4 on your phone. 😊😅
You are correct, I knew I had that color but thought it was in the +1.
It's Pro Blue Secret. You're correct.
Thank you….I thought so.
Let's nerd out
Next nerd session coming soon! 👍
Mark Always a great video. You mentioned the French Pearl..,maybe compare some other brands and their versions of the color?
Oh I can definitely do that.

@nickt423 Just new colors they came out with, they are excellent jerkbaits. I did very well with them last year.
What is the best jerkbait color hands down for you?
Hmmmm…..hard to say….but I tend to start with perch patterns. They seem to work for me no matter where I’m fishing.

Yes the Smithwick Rogue FX series colors are very good. I did very well with the Northern Lights color last season.
Could be gg deadly black shad il normal deadly black shad has whitish purple belly i believe
Yeah if that's deadly black shad, it would be the IL, which has an orange bottom.
Thank you👍
Thank you, I thought it might be that color. Appreciate the clarification.
