Can you remove the red/orange part? All my collars aren't a belt type collar so there's no way to slide the garmin in. So I was wondering if the red part can be removed and clipped back on?
Very nice, seems like a cost effective way to get tracking going. I assume their is no 'point' notification, but you can determine if they are on point via the speed?
You can switch the LTE settings on the Alpha App for Auto, Pointing or Tree Dog notifications. I only have tree dogs so I don’t really have good experience with using the point setting.
Sorry to hear that. We only deal and sell in the US so I can’t speak for how it will work in other countries. I do know the Garmin website says it uses AT&T and T-Mobile towers for its LTE service.
The LTE collar pairs with the Alpha App on your phone. I don’t know if the Fenix 6 will pair to the App. But the Alpha 10, 200, and 300 pair with the Alpha App which then transmits the LTE data to the handheld. Now whether that works the same for the Fenix 6 I’m not sure.
Garmin really does make it very hard to compare devices and find out these specific details of compatibility. So for a full featured setup, you essentially need the Alpha LTE, and Alpha VHF collar, a VHF handheld, a cell phone with the app, and a compatible smartwatch. It sounds amazing, but why is there no video or review showing this full integration working together!? And it makes me even more angry they cancelled their camera lineup, which I remember seeing a video on a dog harness hunting big game.
It is an LTE collar. However, when paired to a vhf system/collar like a 200 or 300 and TT15 or TT25 the handheld will only show the one dog on the screen and will automatically switch from the vhf to lte and back to keep tracking the dog when the VHF collar loses signal.
@@GravelRunHuntingSupply I am still confused. When you are referring to "standalone" mode, are you talking about LTE with the cell phone app? To confirm there is no VHF radio in the Alpha LTE? If you want both, you must also have an Alpha VHF collar as well? So in total the LTE collar, a VHF collar, a VHF handheld, and a cell phone with the app for full functionality of all systems?
@@SteveSherman-jp1dzCorrect, no VHF inside the LTE collar. You can use just the LTE collar with the app. If you want full functionality you would pair it with a vhf handheld and collar as you stated. If you have questions feel free to call the shop, our number is on the website and it’s sometimes easier to answer these questions over the phone.
I think this collar is ideal as a back up collar for my TT15/25 but the price point for the collar and the subscription is just too high and not very appealing for what it is. Just my opinion but I think $200 for the collar and $25 for the subscription is more appropriate. My local Garmin dealer talked me out of trying it because of it's price point.
Agreed, I’ve run one in conjunction with the TT25 and T20 since they came out. It’s cheap insurance in the long run for what these dogs cost. It’s an expensive piece of add on hardware that doesn’t get it’s full use 85% of the time when the TT25 is within range but that 15% of the time they get out of that range it’s worth the cost for me.

@@GravelRunHuntingSupply Right on, good stuff. Thanks for the intel and nice video!
the LTE does not work in Luxembourg, Belgian, German French border , where I'm active " Bloodtrailing " with my dog

Will the LTE pair with my Garmin Fenix 6 watch?

Can the lte itself be switched to run off sat? or will it only run lte?
