HO Scale Unstoppable Locomotive Unboxing - AWVR 1206

- Last March I did a video where I unboxed two AC4400 locomotives from the 2010 movie unstoppable. Ever since then I've been on the search for the famous SD40-2 No. 1206.
Unbeknownst to me Norman Corey had been working on a model of the locomotive to send to me crafted from a run down AHM diesel. It arrived in the mail around a week ago along with some extra parts for a future project.
The craftsmanship on this model is excellent and I decided to make a parody of the movie's ending with it for nostalgia's sake.

Lord, that AHM conversion is amazing! Kudos to the person who made this! You're inspiring me to make more unboxing/showcase videos! I just showcased 3 ScaleTrains 82ft BNSF reefers, really nice cars and I suggest getting one.
Man, that design is *crazy,* I swear, I watch this movie every *eight* months.
Nice addition to the collection! Coincidentally, "Unstoppable" was on one of the cable channels last night. My wife put it on because we're huge fans of the movie as well.
Many others have said they watched it last night as well. I guess it was a popular choice.
Pretty crazy considering that’s over 13 years old at this point.

I would've imagined him to try to put effort on putting a recreation of the movie with his layout at the end of the video but instead he decided to put the whole movie clip in. LOL. Nice work on the video though harrison. the locomotive looks very intact and very well built. nice touch at the ending lol. 👍

am 54 years old . I love SMT videos and he got me back into the hoddy. I have build and fixing things my whole life .

@DTIMainline thank you. I found smt a few years ago and it got me back into the hobby after being out of it for over 30 years. It's been a blast. Everyone should have a hobby even if it's not trains.

That is really cool I never saw the movie myself yet. The ending part was absolutely awesome . I was totally blown away with how you got that pickup truck to do what it did the whole making the hopper do what it did I mean it was like wow. Excellent job. I got to say the guy that modified that locomotive made it sound like a locomotive that is quite expensive compared to what it costs when this was new from ahm. It's like a whole mehano drive etc. Superb
You should watch it sometime. It's not the most realistic but its still fun an enjoyable.

I love how you put the voice sounds in this video from the movie and I wish I could have all 3 locomotives from the movie in HO scale and 0 scale because I run 3 different scales, HO scale 0 scale and 0 27 scale trains.

I can appreciate the work the paint and extra detail work nicely done. I have repowered some brass engines from the 70s with kato drive components. Nice when done smooth running and 18 Oz of weight account the thick brass shell.

What a neat gift. You should add a motor to that 767 so both of the AC4400’s can run more reliably together . I love the movie but Runaway Train is probably my all time favorite

That was Awesome Harrison! I have to admit I'm a bit envious you have models of the real stars of unstoppable. I have that movie in my collection. One of my favorites. And like how you recreated the ending in miniature. Couldn't help but smile. Thank you for posting this I needed the boost to start the day too.

What a beautiful addition to the collection! People are certainly very talented when it comes to creating a prototype locomotive. Soon, you’re gonna be able to replicate your own “Unstoppable” with HO locomotives!
I remember watching “Unstoppable” for the first time back in 2021 and being so upset after watching that SD40-2 derail and crash! 15-year old me thought the movie was completely real, but fast-forward 3 years later and I’m pleased to know that it was mostly CGI. 😅

I'd thought most of the crash scenes were done with full size prop locomotives
the crash scene was done using two locomotives that were hollowed out and a lot of the heavy steal like the out sides of the trucks where fabbed from some composite and painted to look real this was done to keep the weight down. they used I believe a chevy motor in the lead loco 2 stunt men drove it and it was flipped on its side with a cable system of some sort while going about 25 mph. them they blew it up. they film of 777 behind it was over laid after making it appear to be one shot. youtube actually has a video of it its pretty cool. Check it out.
