After my baby shoes (and pricing out boots) ifound a pair of head's iin the furnace cubicle in the shack i was staying they were somewhat dried up and neaded soles so i asked around to see if they belonged to anyone as it was still winter an we were all wearing Sorrels, so i oiled them up some and on long change took them to Edson were my Digger said there was a shoemaker that specialized in rig boots and tarps ect.,and he put on some new cats paws, and heels. Spring came around and i started wearing them on the few day's it wasn't to wet and muddy in the hill's. Then one day someone recognized them and a few started talking and they found that a former camp attendant had put them there after they sent back Boomers beginnings. So my Derrick hand came to me and said "don't you know your wearing a dead mans boots" as Boomer was killed in a car accident before i started roughnecking. By then i could afford to by new one's so i said to contact the family and they said keep wearing them if i wanted to.
5 raps a leg high no gloves. Make it up every time. Worked on some 25000 footers in Wyoming.168 stands on the right hand side. Pushem back and make em bite
Why make ur boys work harder than they have to.... if you have the string weight then use it and the rotary lock its what its for.... That and sliding into formation of coarse
thats right, and so is a pipe tongs connection, i roughnecked for both of my brothers to pay my way through school, and that is a no no, I think this double needs a tune up
Always got my ass chewed if the driller had to take more than one bite on the lead tongs when U was throwing the chain! And we used the back up tongs instead of locking the rotors table.
My friend has part of his jaw missing from the chain breaking. Now he’s a carpenter. Good to be good with your hands, but some jobs are just good for quick summer money. This is one of them.
@@philpeters4445 lmao I heard a lot of Superstations when I was Drilling . none was true . You get holes in pipe and twist off Drill collars twist off Bits lose a cone Reamers lose a roller . Nothing is failsafe , I have seen it all Drill 500 oil wells and I bet you will 2 .
What is it with u people.... How else ya Hanna lock the table... been doing it like that forever.... some have separate locks depending which tongs ur using but all the same what's wrong with it
All I can say is, these guys must know what the hell they are doing or they'd crush their hands under that chain or get their heads bashed in by a multi-hundred pound piece of cast iron something.
Lol. Ironically I used to watch total drunks and pot heads work their fn asses off on those drilling rigs. Hard ass work and hard ass drinkers for sure. Nothing light about the oilfield.
fairly complicated but i assume necessary and streamlined process. brilliantly developed
Who fuvked up
Sliding all around in them Walmart boots!
Need redwing boots they don’t slide around.

Safety comes first
Locking the rotary table to make up joint, use back up tongs

Two tongs take longer too. And like ol dad said, that's what the table lock is for.
Can’t believe i never caught this. Up down slips is a big no no.. no sunflower seeds on the floor and every bit is always pointing down

Another day of watching connections and i will be ready to set intermediate
I can only pray to God no one was seriously injured or killed..The lack of basic training in floorhand skills is abhoorant
I did an interview for oil rig electrician . Anyone to brief me on what an electricians day is on an oil rig
