Caleb, never use brake cleaner as a pre weld cleaner, if it pools up and you end up burning it, it will create toxic fumes that can give you permanent damage or kill you. There are many horror stories about it, google 'brake cleaner and welding'. Stay safe man! Your work is great.
I agree he should bring it back. I’ll wait until this series is done.. every TH-camr is doing or has done an LS swap in something.. the civic build was pretty dope

Best 10$ I've ever spent. Been watching you since the forza days and its actually so cool seeing you build your own stuff. And you're also the reason I love miatas lol

A good solution for the garbage disposal would be to setup a second can with anything that's not general junk and fills up the can fast. Like for example packaging that's not plastic. Straight into the other bin. I've managed to reduce my trips overall with 3 bags. Plastics, paper, and a stouter bag inside my actual can with everything else.
@@pieterjancousserier9900 depends on the setup. The one Taylor ray used on his miata wasn’t THAT expensive all things considered, and there’s almost always someone trying to sell an ls7 setup
hey Gingiuim, just a small trick on welding, idk what size tungsten you are using but as long as you have 3/32 tungsten you can run more amps than most welders can do. i work at a job shop use 3/32 2% thoriated tungsten (red) and ive ran 250 amps on AC and DC for a few minutes without stopping at all and the tungsten was fine, and with the 2% thoriated you can weld basically any metal with it, but it will not weld as good on certain metals that other types of tungsten can.
probably the hundredth person to suggest this but if you have the budget and are willing to sacrifice cargo space you could run a dry sump system, gaining more clearance under the engine.
It's be super cool in the final product if you had a switch or a lever that could redirect the exhaust through either some mufflers for the sleeper aspect, or through a straight pipe for performance!
I actually made the same mistake of welding with a brake clean soked towle on the same bench at work. I was in absolute panic when it happend while my co worker and boss was dying laughing when i tried to put the fire out😂 now i always check for flamible items around the place im welding😅
@@YelloEye true. i suppose for the youtubes its a good way to do it. but its painful trying to watch him build a oil pan when holley makes one that drops right in.

The standard 4 cylinder sway bar won't work well with the V8 as it's too thin and has the wrong shape...but the V6 drop sway bar WILL work with V8 applications. There's a couple of places to source them. 1 place (STS Machining) makes the thicker V8 compatible sway bars and the V8 bolt-in motor mounts.
Def watch the Taylor Ray video "Top 5 MUST-DO Mods To Make An LS Engine Reliable. " Could save you a lot of money in the future. :D P.S. Funny you say this is the hard part, I personally feel the exact opposite. Wiring, plumbing, and everything else takes so much longer than getting the engine mounted.
You should use some spare wheel rims and widen then ;) would look cool with those yellow labels that say ”dont drive on this wheel for a long period of time”
Looking good! That motor is so huge after being used to seeing Miata motors haha. Also please do be careful working under a motor that's just on a hoist, I don't know if that's normal procedure or not as I guess it's kind of hard not to, but would hate to hear of an accident where the hoist or strap failed while you're under it.
Caleb i know this was just some simple small fire. But please invest some money in a few fire extinguishers. You will be so happy you've bought them when you needed them. Small investment. Big result.

STS Machining makes a lovely subframe and mount set up that would work perfectly in this situation
You should put on a roof rack and some boxes and luggage on there for the extra sleeper look
Also, Install the engine and trans in from the bottom, already installed on the subframe.
