Something I'd like to note on the Japanese side of things is that the Japanese spelling of her name is ミズ・パックマン (mizu pakkuman)
If her name was Miss Pac-Man, then the Japanese spelling would be ミス・パックマン (misu pakkuman)

You know nothing of Luigi. Not the way I know him. I live and breath Luigi. All you could ever hope is that he would piss in your general direction. We went to school together, grew up together you don't know his struggles. Did you even know he got a doctorate in medicine? Dr.Luigi is real, Mario's just a petty cosplayer with medical direction from his own brother. Every year is the year of Luigi, and you'll never understand, you just don't get it. Luigi's never die.

I’m pretty sure the “Mizz” and “Miss” thing is a regional dialect. I’m from the southern united states and (at least from where I live) we explicitly learn in school that Ms. is pronounced “miss” and that Mrs. is pronounced “misses”. I’ve literally never once heard someone distinct mizz and miss until today.

Yup, central Floridian here and most of us here (regardless of race or ethnicity!) say Miss or Misses when addressing women! Usually it’s saved for mature/older women, especially for older folks here since it’s a pretty formal way to address someone here. I actually work part-time at a Publix, and we say miss/misses a LOT due to the extreme volume of elderly white customers and how old fashioned the store’s values are 🤣

West Coast here--California. As far as I remember, in school we were taught that Ms. was just short for "miss" too and only that. Don't think I've ever heard it consistently be "mizz" until today, which is funny since my parents were from where it "should" be that.

10:08 You could say that about just anyone with the whole Miss/Ms. thing. For a lot of people nowadays, they never really thought about the non-married variants of the terms Miss/Ms. because they both seem to deal with someone who is non-married. With Mrs., there's at least a more obvious difference there with someone who is married, to my knowledge.

Mrs. "misses" - a married woman
    Miss - an unmarried woman
Ms. "mizz" - a woman with unspecified marital status

As a teacher, I went by Ms. Lake and told my students, "Mrs. means married, miss means unmarried and Ms. means none of your damn business." They need to do away with using Mrs. and Miss and strictly use Ms. making the marital status of women equally unknown to that of men. Then, it wouldn't matter how it is pronounced because there would be no distinction in meaning.

I used to watch a show called ''What's My Line?'' a few years ago and the host John Charles Daly almost always asked the female contestants if he should refer to them as ''mis'' (Ms. ) or ''missus'' (Mrs. ) So people knew how to deal with the issue even back then. I wonder what the development staff had in mind when Bill Gates chose to abreviate his Microsoft Disk Operating System brand as MS DOS back in August 12th 1981 and just a little over a month and a half before Midaway acquired the rights for Ms. Pacman from GCC on October 29th 1981. Forward thinking maybe?
