    That’s the cool thing about the car hobby. Everyone has an opinion and preference. I’ve owned both and I would never go back to a SC. My turbo makes way more boost and it’s instant, car 60’s in the middle 1.30’s. A turbo with an Automatic is unbeatable imo.

      As far as max et track setups the turbo will always be better. But with street car setups it's not always about max et. I'm glad we have alot of options. I'm a tvs blower guy. The way they snap on the hit is just unmatchable by a turbo it doesn't matter how it's sized or what kind of gadgets only brake boosting could do what a tvs does just matting it. It's great. Centris are good for putting power down with their more linear ramp up I can see where they'd be beneficial. They also sound good. Turbos change the exhaust sound quite a bit. It's not bad but it sure isn't classic mustang sound so if you're looking for that turbo probably isn't ideal. If you already have money into a nice header exhaust setup going blower might be good because it can still be utilized. It depends on what YOU want.

      Another great example of opinion. If I’m going to the trouble of putting a power adder on my car it’s definitely about max ET. If not, I’m just going to build something for pure reliability and esthetics like a Heads, cam and intake deal. Definitely depends on what you want and it’s best to go into it with a plan and goal.

      @@NoFox_Given I like the idea of a turbo car I've experienced 1 in a nissan skyline gtst and I loved it I got a 302 recently and I'm doing a turbo setup with an air to water intercooler as the only difference I'm curious to see how the atw affects the feeling of the boost hitting at 10-12psi on a bone stock refreshed efi engine

    I’m a supercharger person as well. Turbos are nice. Just not for me. Also I don’t like how they muffle the exhaust… I like my rumble 😁

  • @stangbanger6445
    @stangbanger6445 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Turbines run off heat energy, not rpm at all..if that was the case, your old powerstroke would never make boost.. superchargers are rpm dependent however.. the reason your turbo spools so quickly if the engine is near its tq peak, is because mass flow is quickly very high as is heat, when you stomp it

    Try an old school Incon or DDMI twin turbo setup. Yeah it sucks to install - have to notch and weld up passenger strut tower for example and servicing plugs is a nightmare, but the relatively small turbos makes for instant off idle boost and crazy power. I have the Incon 800TT kit on a built 347 Dart, TFS heads, ported Holley systemax and it’s an absolute animal. There’s zero and I do mean zero lag. I have two other built euro turbo cars which do each have some element of lag but the mustang is just screaming as soon as you press go! The sound a Vortech makes tho is music to my ears.

  • @aaronliddell4280
    @aaronliddell4280 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’ve had both. Turbo is superior in almost every way. No belt slippage/breakage, no pullies to change for different boost desired. More power pound for pound of boost. Entry level turbo kits are significantly cheaper and upgraded turbo kits are the same as a comparable SC or less. Cooler discharge air temps with the turbo too. SC is easier to install, but the turbo isn’t all that much more difficult. SC is louder at idle as that’s a plus to some and generally louder exhaust tone without the turbo quieting down the exhaust as well. My car made 100 more lb/ft of torque and 80 more hp on the same setup going from an S trim to an ON3 70mm kit. No other changes.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone knows turbos make more power and are more efficient nobody is debating that. With a street car it isn't just about max power all the time. It changes the exhaust note alot and there is alot of heat to deal with and you can't even get the response a supercharger has without brake boosting it. For max power track setups turbo is always gonna win but it's not always about max et or max power. With a street car there are alot of other things to factor. Of course you're gonna pick up power going to a turbo they don't take power to make power this is common knowledge. It's not just about max power on a street car or at least it shouldn't be. If that is your main consideration when choosing you're doing it wrong.

    Man, its such a situational case. I personally like the SC'er better for a street car. You don't lose that great exhaust note from lopey cam, doesn't generate as much heat and the power comes on more linear. On the other hand launching a brake boosted turbo car on slicks is insane!!

    I have 3 mustangs, all 3 have a different boost. Centrifugal, Roots blower and Twin turbos. I've always been a fan of a Roots style blower because of the low end Torque. My twin turbo car is by far the faster/quicker car but like you said, it has a whole different feel. I'm still a fan of a Roots blower or positive displacement supercharger.

    I am still curious about the Kenne-Bell. Not in production anymore, but I always heard it was like having a big block with the instant torque. Also read that heat was a real issue, and I live in the south like you. Any thoughts on the screw type blowers?

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The kbs especially the old ones heat soak pretty badly. The modern blowers are wicked. The tvs blowers especially the ones vmp makes are the way to go unfortunately they don't make them for foxes but I bet you could make them work with an adaptor or something guys have ran 03 cobra and 07 up gt500 stock blowers on them and if you can do that you can run modern tvs blowers. A tvs blower on a torque heavy pushrod setup would be badass. It's killer on my torque heavy 5.4 4v setup (07 gt500)😊

  • @derekmills7688
    @derekmills7688 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Totally agree. The big reason I would see to go with a turbo over a supercharger is if you go full on smart electric boost controller to provide different levels of boost (and therefore power) according to how your car hooks.

  • @jeremypike9153
    @jeremypike9153 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Take it from Richard Holdener in his own words. Boost only elevates everything that was already there. What is there will be brought up in the power range exactly mirroring what the naturally aspirated engine would do. Which is why everything you do to make a n/a motor make power also makes power under boost.

  • @theredwedge9446
    @theredwedge9446 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It really depends on the build and preference. But one reason I really like a turbo is the potential and efficiency, the engine isn’t working to turn the compressor, meaning on the same pound of boost the supercharger will make less power.

  • @tonyevans7767
    @tonyevans7767 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Curious to see you possibly test the new kenne bell when it comes back out. I personally hate centrifugal blowers, as they’re the worst of both worlds. You’ve still got some lag, and you have the parasitic drain from the blower. Twin screws and roots are instant boost, and make better noises. Granted the lag with a centrifugal isn’t as bad as a turbo, but it’s still there…

      I'm a tvs guy all day so I agree with most of what you said however on sound the roots and twin screw sound better in boost but just idling and cruising the centris that make noise with straight cut gears and what have you that noise at idling and cruising is insane and takes the w in that category lol. The modern tvs blowers are wicked in particular the vmp versions of them. It's incredible the kind of power they make from 2.3 and 2.65 liter blowers.

    The supercharged car should run a bigger head unit and spun slower. For the street run a tighter LSA cam . That picks up the bottom end while allowing the bigger supercharger a cooler air charge. Turning losses don’t matter in the street with 1200 -1400 sc head units.
