I bought a 2020 Allez Base two years ago based on this video. 5000 miles, 300000ft+ feet gain later and the bike still rides and looks brand new. Oh, and I can’t forget the fact that, since I am about average height for a male, the size of bike I ride (56cm) is extremely hard to find. I remember having to call quite a few shops to see if they had entry level road bikes in 56cm, and most shops either had an entry level road bike on the floor, a size 56cm road bike on the floor, or neither. Was mostly high end bikes way out of my budget. I would think you run the risk of breaking some spokes up front due to the lower spoke count compared to the rear, moreso if you ride rough roads, but the frame itself should be able to handle it.
@@GCPerformance18 Nope, mate. i guarantee you it is wrong. You cant beat a engineer who worked in Maxxis tire for 5 years. The tread pattern is just like Maxxis Dolomite.

Clincher-only tires aren't airtight, it's also what makes them easier to mount. If you try to convert one to tubeless, sealant may seep out of the sidewalls.

Australia
Short reach or long reach brake calipers???
Can you do a review of the giant tcr 2 2021 or 2022 rim Brake version only because I have one lol £2000
I eed to get more giant on the cannle jsut hard to get everythign
Seeing you build it to an nba player, is it Platinum rims?
I got this on order being my first road bike from a hybrid, finally ready to convert to these now. Hopefully be faster for me :)
How has it been?
@@chuckwalla2967 its been great i do notice the speed difference compared to the hybrid i used to have. Ive replaced the tyres and i also put 105 callipers on, i would like to have full 105 group set on it but for now bike was great buy :)
HOLY SH*T WE'RE AT 20K
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know!!! thanks so much for always being here qand for the support I greatly appreciate it!!!
@@GCPerformance18 thank you too for the great content :)
You deserve this and more
If 2 or 3 different frame sizes fit you, is it better to go with the smaller frame and raise the seat post to high position or go with the larger frame and have the seat post in low position?
They are great fun to ride, and all most people need.
Hey GC 20k subs, only watched for the face reveal! Whats going on man! Lol
As to the bike, first must do upgrade is to change those teckro brakes, over the left shoulder and put 105 ones on. The rider will loVe you! ❤️
thank you wayne!!!!! I really appreciate the comments and also being here!!! honestly, thank you
@@GCPerformance18 man your a legend. Very hard for people to see these bikes and get a explanation of the components.
Weather you like specialized or not the format you provide is excellent!
I like to poke a stick at things (as you know), but take my channel and comments with a pinch of salt.
I am a true believe in liberty and everyone has the right to an opinion, be it right or wrong.
As long as we get bums on bikes we are getting people out of cars and getting them fitter.
It is a shame this niche is not as big as some others. But we are trying 👍
Coming from a flat bar hybrid, would you recommend the Allez or Roubaix? Not looking to race, pretty much 20-30 mile exercise rides with friends.
I say go Allez
Roubaix is a much more comfortable bike due to the springed handlebar stem. This is coming from a person who owns this exact bike (2018) and is stiff.
Allez
Nice rollie flex there
hahaha thnak you
you should just have Specialized come out with an S-Works SL7 “Flo-ridah” model...single speed 🚲😂
hahaha I would love it back in the day they made a lunch ride venge model that only came in a 1x
@@GCPerformance18 my very first bike was a specialized allez w/ a cateye 🤙🏽
8 speed in 2022.... for 1k man bikes are wild
I know!!! it seems to be the norm too right now all the companies are like this
@@GCPerformance18 Its wild I paid 1500 for a caad 10 105 with 11 speed out the door back in 2015. 8 speed being on anything near 1k just feels wrong tbh. I know prices have gone up but for a 1k bike to have shimano's lowest current group set feels rough
@@Demon09-_- agreed. I remember a few years ago bikes nearing $1k at the very least had Sora. Those were still a dream to me cause I never thought I’d spend that much money for a bike (was still riding cheap mongooses). Fast forward to last year and I had no choice but to fork over that $1k for this bike, or just never get into road bikes. Should I have waited for something good to pop up on the used market? Probably. Might have gotten something with Sora or Tiagra for the same amount. But its a sacrifice I’m happy to have made, because this is the best riding bike I’ve ever owned
@@Rocky4719 used can be good but it's also a risk. If you are able to do work on the bike your self it's much less but if you can't shop prices can get pretty high these days
@@Demon09-_- very true, and I don’t see them going down anytime soon, as long as people keep paying that extra cash. However, I still think the $1k I paid for this bike was well worth it, because I also paid for the lovely shop experience of talking to someone who knows bikes and recommended this as my first roadie. Everytime I look at/ride my basic as hell allez, I remember how lucky I am to even have found it and not have to wait for hellish back order wait times.
Is the bottom bracket tube itself threaded?
yes it is , it is a threaded bb
Love the video and the batman rolex!
What is the max tire size it would take without chafing the frame?
I think 28
My friend just got one of these. Told him to get new carbon c38 wheels as his first upgrade. But I don’t think they make a rim brake version of the c38? If that’s the case, never mind then haha.
They don't, but you can have him take a look at Winspace or Hunt wheels.
The crankset is lower level Shimano, it's not Claris
oh sorry about that it was labeled on specialized as claris
@@GCPerformance18 no problem!
@gcperformance, this model will now be relegated to my winter bike.
What would you suggest for someone who is getting serious and wanting a little bit more than this now knowing they’re looking to compete in some form. Come spring? Much appreciated. 🙌🏻
Very nice!!! It is a nice bike
Hate how specialized keeps increasing prices like crazy … I get it supply and demand ..
Rolex.. bike selling business is doing well i see:)
hahhahahah
Costs less than the Specialized Tarmac S Works. 😳
I paid around 2g, but have the Shimano 105 group set and clips
Oh nice, you got the nicer model
Did they discontinue they allez sprint.
they didnt ake it for this year they might come back to it this year
The elite e5 is supposedly just under 20lbs that's fantastic for a bike under 2 grand
that is awesome I know they specd it with nice components this year
Nice watch
Hey man, im planning to get into cycling to lose weight, im a big guy, i weight 140kg, you think the bike can handle it?
yes of course
Really?! So you’re saying I can ride a road bike?
I would think you run the risk of breaking some spokes up front due to the lower spoke count compared to the rear, moreso if you ride rough roads, but the frame itself should be able to handle it.
the tire orientation is incorrect, mate.
you sure? it is a stock bike out of abox so I think it is right
@@GCPerformance18 Nope, mate. i guarantee you it is wrong. You cant beat a engineer who worked in Maxxis tire for 5 years. The tread pattern is just like Maxxis Dolomite.
This bike would be so much better if specialized didn't cripple their bikes with budget groupsets. My 900quid gravel bike weights 9.5kgs with gravel tyres on. If this came with even a partial 105 groupset it would be a much better bike.
What does it mean when the tires are not tubeless ready?
Clincher-only tires aren't airtight, it's also what makes them easier to mount.
If you try to convert one to tubeless, sealant may seep out of the sidewalls.
@@sbccbc7471 Also, the bead is not the same as a tubeless bead. It could come off the wheel while riding.
@@CGB65 Yup, that too.
You from Michigan?
no im from florida
I think for the price point Specialized could have offered a bit more for the consumer. Mechanical Disc brakes would have been nice. The Trek Domane AL2 is $1,800 with Claris and Mechanical Disc (they also have it in rim brake for $900). Now I still think is a great bike for the money I would buy it just to be my Zwift bike or commuter in the winter.
Nice bike and watch btw
thanks os mcuh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you upgrade the gear set on this to 11 speed , 105 ?
I have the exactly color and model and I made it 105 11 speeds!! Its a really nice with the fabric claris group set but now is better!!
Personally at that price I would buy a Merida (Giant and Trek too)with better groupset, awesome bike though
what’s you height? is 183cm good for 56 frame?
i am 6 foot tall
Such a great bike for the price. I just did a long term review of it on my channel.
this is base 2022?

hahahahhahah
😅😄😃
Very
Nice 👍
700x28c is possible ?!?!
Yes it is
front tire on backwards
nice sub!
thanks so much!!
I would buy it.
hell yea
I still think my Allezhater comment on the gator video was good.
You never answered your own question. Is it worth it?! :)
Yes it is. It is a great starter bike
very nice
yea it is
Yes!
1499 in Canada😂😭😭
Give me these
Not good looking as my tarmac sl7 ahahahahah
Heavy bike no thanks
true
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
Way to expensive 🥸
Too or to, doesn’t matter here 😂😂
what would u prefer for the price
