Dungeon Crawler Carl is so good that after I finished reading all of the available books, I went back and purchased the audiobooks for my 60 mile-per-day commute. It's been amazing to experience it in two different formats, and I almost look forward to driving each day because it's just so fun to listen to, and the quality is top-notch.
My heart keeps stopping when you toss the books and almost drop them. It’s brilliant. Makes me pay attention. I haven’t read a single one of these books. Although I’ve started Sword of Kaigen.
So, Dungeon Crawler Carl Book One not only hooked me exactly as you said it would - but you were right about listening to the audio. It is RARE for a book to make me laugh out loud - but this one did it over and over. I thought it was going to be mostly just... entertaining but I really care about the characters. I'll be listening to Book 2 later this month. (God dammit, Donut.) Thanks so much for being so passionate about your recommendation - you really convinced me and I'm so glad you did!
The last book that kept me up is the name of the wind. I am almost done with it and it’s been keeping me up over the past two nights. I think I’ll have it finished by tomorrow and then start the second one. I hope the third one eventually comes out if ever. Also I’ve got a book recommendation that I think you would like if you haven’t already read it. It’s called the book that wouldn’t burn by Mark Lawrence. It’s a sci-fi, fantasy. Here’s a summery about it. A boy has lived his whole life trapped within a vast library, older than empires and larger than cities. A girl has spent hers in a tiny settlement out on the Dust where nightmares stalk and no one goes. The world has never even noticed them. That's about to change. Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another. A journey on which knowledge erodes certainty, and on which, though the pen may be mightier than the sword, blood will be spilled and cities burned. It was another book that kept me up all night. I really think you would like it and both the first and the soon to be released second are in a Goodreads giveaway right now. I think they are just for if you live in the US but I’m not sure.
Nevernight I struggled with the footnotes the first hundred pages then became used to them and by the end when I found out what they actually were I was loving them. Nevernight is one of my favorite series.
Totally agree with you on Skyward. I actually think his venture into sci-fi here is better than a lot of his fantasy work. He clearly did a deep level of research, and the audiobook is especially well narrated
Not entirely the same, but last night i was reading and i finished my book exactly at midnight, which was incredibly satifsying. Read Jade Legacy recently and oof that entire series is indeed quite the page turner
Only one I haven't read 🙌🏼🤪 and that last one IS on my list (not going to try t spell it 😬) Tigana and Reincarnation Blues kept me up past my bedtime too 😍
The second book is alittle weak in comparison to the whole series, but my god when the Skyward series hits, it hits. Its very much written like a well made sci fi action movie

Spensa is definitely one of his stronger characters! I think the reined in scope really helped develop her character
Last Argument of kings (basically all First Law books) kept me up until 3 or 4 am ... more than once 😂🤩🔥🔥🔥
