    Seems like a better version of the Seiko SNK800 series. A nice gift for a watch newbie or a field watch maniac.

      @@jw6871 I am not really sure what you are trying to get at with your comment. As someone who has actually served while wearing a Seiko, I can tell you that you are obviously wrong. As for "most", most people wear Gshocks or cheap Casios. In fact, second only to Gshocks, the most popular watch is a Casio F91W, a watch with 30 meter water resistance.

      Yeah, I wouldn't say this is better than a Seiko Snk800 series. That's a huge reach. Considering there is a chinese seagull movement inside the MK1, the too small movement is encased in a typical quartz movement plastic spacer.
      I just bought 2 one of me and my girlfriend. I'm excited and worried about the Quality. These aren't the same in-house pin movements from the Timex that still run and keep excellent time today.

      @@JustWatches1 she loves it! I've realized it's really hard to get a smaller watch that doesn't look like a "woman's watch", so I find her wearing it constantly. Other women have complimented her watch too.
      Now I wish they made a bigger size for me haha. I love the look of that crystal.

    These canvas bracelets are very comfortable but there is one serious issue to keep in mind though which probably is the problem with any brand. At first it will become softer and more flexible. Ok no problem. But over time as your wrists release some sweat the bracelets absorbs what fees like salt and even begins to give off smell over time. When it happens it also starts to become harder again. I didn’t want to spend on a bracelet so I managed to wash it thoroughly. But it still became much harder and less flexible. For me it took about a year for it to become “sweaty”

      Place the strap in boiling water for 5 mins and then pop it in the freezer for a few hours. The temperature extremes will kill the stinky bacteria and you’ll be good to go.

    I wish it was 80 bucks less lol. Not a huge Timex fan but these retro ones hit a sweet spot for me. Brass cases piss me off, acrylic crystal isn't my favorite, and most are loud. My MK1 steel is quiet and a great piece so I hope I enjoy this mechanical since I can't afford the hamilton Khaki manual wind right now. I wish for the price it had a screw down crown. This will look great on a leather single pass Nato or a canvas strap. Thanks for the video.

    • @JustWatches1

    Yeah its got some historical charm but i think you really need to want a Timex of this nature even at $130 discounted considering what one can pick up for less than half that with a lot more hardware .As for the one i had in the early 70's it didn't take much of a lickin' before it stopped tickin' .

    • @JustWatches1
      @JustWatches1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very much agree! I hope that came through in the video, you do pay a premium for that Timex on the dial. However, for some that is important. I am more of a value hunter. My Rdunae Vintage Turtle is one of my favorites because of the value it represents!

    Value just isn't there imo. Cool watch for sure, and I'd snap it right up at like 80$ US. But almost 200$ for a watch with relatively cheap materials, acrylic crystal, cheap strap, standard steel case and a mystery Chinese movement that is not even automatic? Man... There are some seriously more tricked out pieces for that price range. Like I said I actually live the watch but it just isn't batting in the right league. You can get a seiko 5 automatic field watch that looks great too for cheaper that has better crystal and a Japanese automatic movement. Look, I love Timex, honestly. And am sure the watch is rock solid but just way too much for the specs and design. The only unique thing is the domed crystal. And honestly Timex doesn't really hold a prestige value on the name as they are kinda known as cheap beater watches you buy at the mall. Step in a good direction but man that price is just silly when stacked against other big brands with more name prestige at a smaller price compared to this guy. I hope they come out with a mk1 mecha chrono in the future as I'd be all over it at a similar price.

    • @JustWatches1
      @JustWatches1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. They are starting to get slightly better offerings. Their newer hand wind watch like this has a sapphire crystal, but they are still overpriced generally. I think they sell really well based on their brand name and heritage, especially for people who just want one watch, and are not crazy watch collectors like ourselves :P

    If mighty american Timex thinks that they can put chinese Seagull movement in there and ask 200 for it, they are wrong. If Timex will have its own inhouse movement I might start to think about getting one. So far I recommend buying Seagull because they have at least guts to manufacture something on their own.

    don't understand why there is no military mechanical timex with a black dial. if it had been a 38 mm with a black dial maybe I would have bought it. the satin case? because timex quartz watches have more detailed dials and this is so poor. is it so hard to make a decent mechanical military watch? I do not understand the meaning of this shiny little watch with a mechanism that cannot last over time

    For a few dollars more:
    Use same glow in the dark material as Seiko.
    As a mechanical, use a miyota. I have no idea how good the Chinese made Seagull engine is. If you are going through Asian engines why not use Miyota or Seiko? They are very well known and reliable.
    The ETA 2824-2 could be used for upper end price points time pieces..

    • @JustWatches1
      @JustWatches1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JustWatches1 After a little deep dive it appears Seagull Mechanical movements are well regarded in Horological circles. If I find a URL providing more tech on the spec regarding the movement I will share.
      Back to the NAVI XL automatics, I might refer to them as a military-esque watch as the WR is not meant for deep under water. I would label it military style with a diver bezel feature. But a handsome watch non the less.
      I am in an agonizing choice: green dial with tan strap or all black case and dial with black strap (this is one gorgeous watch!).
