When you wrap the fiberglass tape around the flue soke it in water for 5 mins one stops all the fiberglass shreds in your hands (suppose to use gloves ) 2 when you light the fire it drys the wrap and shrinks a wee bit making it a very tight seal .
I'm not entirely sure about this . If you put water on this pipe it will get rusty as reaction it pretty quick . It's standard steel. Can't be galvanised for abvious reasons. Later on in time you will have it all rusty. Best to Paint the pipe with proper stove paint prior to use of fibreglass tape. Thanks.
DON'T INSTALL A WOOD BURNER THIS WAY. There is too much fire risk and that tape will dry and fail eventually. If it does and you don't notice, then the chance of the shed catching fire is high. Simply making that hole larger and fitting fire board around it and also to the shed wall at the back of the log burner with a little air gap would be a Big improvement. Don't take fire risks. Analyse the install carefully and anything that comes quite close to the burner or its pipes and flues etc.
So after 2 years is the building still standing. And if it is. How long before you had to save that structure from impending doom by redoing the install properly and safely
How interesting. We are buying the same model of stove and putting it in our summerhouse ( posh big shed 20x12 ft). We had intended, like you, taking the flue out through the wooden wall and then up past the eaves just as you have done, but were told it is just not on to come out of the back and through the wall to an exterior bend as this will cause all sorts of problems. We were also told the back of the stove must be 60cm from the wooden wall, over which we must stick some sheets of cement board to save the wooden walls ( 2inches thick) catching fire. Also, what about lost heat if you go through the wall rather than a bend inside from the back of the stove and then the pipe upright and through the roof as is recommended? We have done three stoves in France but all in chimneys or through 2ft stone walls so no problems with catching fire. Any advice and thoughts gratefully accepted. Thanks.
I had my pipe run up on the inside of my 10 x 12 cabin. I used rock wool fireproof insulation that goes around the pipe in through the 3 " pellet double wall - wall thimble though my wall.
I used basaltic shell for flue insulation in the wall.(basaltic wool+aluminium foil shell). My chimney is built outside. (Out of modular bricks). My wall is insulated with polystyrene outside. The stove is small-5 kw. Is that shell enough for preventing polystyrene ignition? They say in specifications it is good till 250 degrees celsius and sometimes 400.
Any motorsport outlet. It's exhaust wrap used to keep the engine bay cooler and move the exhaust gases out of the engine quicker. Best to soak it in water first. I wouldn't rely on it in the way shown in the video!

I always heard the real heat of those stoves comes from the chimney tube. That's the reason the tube goes inside the house up to the ceiling. Aren't you loosing heat installing the tube straight on the wall? Almond shells burning stoves work with same principle tiny stoves with very long tube. I want to install in my shed just I have to figure out how to protect walls and roof from the hot tube.
Does this burner provide ample heat for you even in winter just curious as I'm aiming for an outdoor lab/reptile/woman cave for my garden as I'm not allowed reptiles in the house il be spending long periods in it so will want a way to heat that's cute to look at yet cosy in winter months. Also if any reptiles end up ill the free heat plus possibly needing to bed down with them will come in handy
Looks great and I hadn't seen that tape before, looks like exactly what I need for my installation. One question - do you need to wrap the tape all the way from the stove? Would it have worked if you just wrapped a few inches of pipe where it went through the wall?
ive just bought one. anything you can suggest to keep flue from rusting? galvanised pipe, then seal using your fireproof tape? and does water ingress affect the actual stove itself and make it rust? thanks
@@bradleywilliams6374 eBay pal. Just to the say the flue and bend only lasted 12 months. I’m going to get a proper flue and even a decent stove. You get what you pay for
Yikes! That install would not pass code in my neck of the woods. Heater way to close to the wall and the single layer pipe was actually touching the wood. Wood stoves are the #1 way to burn down your house in around here.
Yeah same ,I watched this vid a while back and looking back I'm glad I put my burner on a 4" thick concrete slab with a1 fire rated sts boards on all sides except the front , then a twinwall flue to top it off, cost a bit but my shed is safe and warm come winter
just thinking that - flues need to be kept away from combustible materials, but nooooo, just shove it though some nice tin chipboard! Should replace that whole panel with Vermiculite board.
Hi, just wondering , when you said you got a proper one for the round house. Which one did you buy? I've no idea about this kind of thing but need one for my summerhouse. With thanks. Mandy
Lol, Brit’s haven’t done a proper job on anything in 70 years. This install is dangerous and against code everywhere in the US. And I see Brits constantly shit on stick built structures in the US… well what do we have here 😂
Those burners are shit mate bought one leaked never got a seal so couldn't leave it on overnight think it's made from 1-2mm metal sheet used to glow red sometimes

Can you share a good install video mate? Or webpage?
How did you seal the hole in the wall around the flue pipe ? Or did you just leave it ?
Use "Superwool" or "Ceramic Blanket" as used in kilns or forges.
Probably left it, looks like a pretty bodge install.
I thought my Jotul out in my shed was bad, but this one really is sketchy.

Proper school boy install..
How safe is that? One thing to install - another around safety!!

What about the gap in the shed wall around the flue? How did you fill that?
Have a link to that insulation wrap for the glue pipe please
Hiya pal did the wrap stop the shed catching fire and where did you get the wrap from cheers in advance
Where to get this burner? Link...
Put copper sheets on the wall around the heater 👌🏾
I have one of these...3 years later my 90 degrees bend fell apart from rust lol....apart from rust its perfect
We just about to do a review on it, let's just say the rust was not a friend to ours either 🤣🤣
@@FieldtoFarm_UK I'm gonna try again with it lol...
Did you get a good draw when the stove warmed up with a fairly short flue length
where do I buy the fire proof wrapping for the pipes?

Do you have the link for eBay please
Is this setup still working well?
It lasted about 2 years before an upgrade, the back flue almost burnt through so probably not the best forbanything other than a workshop
Awesome video, Iv just ordered that same log burner so this was really helpful
What's name/ kind of stove is this!? How much do these run!? Thx!

Ebay they shit tho for long term use

I'm the same. Any ideas?
What kind of stove is this?
Hi we have a very similar log burner to install is the tape any good for long term use and where do you fine it hope you can help
Did you put on a spark resister at the top of the flue by any chance? Just wondering if it's a good choice or indeed even needed
Same log burner once installed to I
Have to get it certified please advice

Would this be suitable for a caravan/campervan because that opening plate doesn't look safe for a caravan/campervan..?
I wouldn't risk it in a van runs really hot and not the nest air seal on the doors
Have you a link for the log burner please ?
If you search on Ebay or amazon it will be the first 10 listings that pop up
You’re loosing so much heat by having the flue outside. I would of had it inside the room going out the roof or higher up the wall
I was thinking the same.

Where is this from

There is special paint for Wood burning stoves and chimney. That's what in the spanish Pirinees houses people uses.
I would get cast flue for internal or twin wall for external.
So is this a good investment ? Or waste of money

Just wondering how the fireproof wraps been doing and how the stove and pipes have been in the weather? Thanks
Fireproof worked pretty well! Pipes rusted to dust 😂😂
@@FieldtoFarm_UK aga I thought they might rust they look so thin when I was looking at the ad 😂maybe some rust and heat or off paint may help them?
