Thanks. You can't go wrong with either model but the 3620 is a lot more fun to shoot. There's just something about that longer slide that gives it a full size feel even though the rest of it is anything but full size.
Hello Tony, cheers from Virginia.New Zealand is a place I really want to visit someday.I know you'll really enjoy the pistol,I know I've enjoyed mine. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the great video! I recently picked up the 3.5" model with a trade at my local gun store, but still really liked the look of the 4.5", so I ordered one today for $399 online before shipping. Didn't need it, but I thought "you can never have too many guns.". :) One thing I did on the 3.5 that I will do with this one too was I changed the plastic front sight for a metal Hiviz fiber optic. It fits great, and to me, is a major step up in looks from the plastic Ruger sight, as it's easier to see and the style compliments the lines of the SR22. Concerning the polymer release lever, I contacted Ruger because the one on my pistol looks like it's metal, and they said it is now 7075 aluminum which was good to hear. I think I'm going to order the Twin Tech threaded barrel that they have for the 4.5" model as I have a Ruger Silent SR suppressor coming hopefully soon I can use on it and my 3.5 model. Thanks again for the great video review!
Thank you for watching.I'm usually saying that I like to keep my firearms stock but if you can do something to make it better, then go for it.Back when I made this video there wasn't really a lot of info here on YT about it,but now it seems a lot more people have discovered this version of the SR22,and I hope they all have good luck with it.I hope you have good luck with yours as well.I bet that Hi Viz front sight makes a world of difference.$399 is a great price,,regardless of shipping.
@@garageguy879 I was surprised when I found the 4.5" at this price as the 3.5" models were all more expensive online. I couldn't find any that were much cheaper online than what the store had the 3.5" for, and by the time you paid shipping and an FFL, I gave up and just did a trade with a Glock 44 .22 pistol I had to get the Ruger. It just feels like a nicer pistol than the Glock did, and I liked all the features like the exposed hammer, decocker, and stainless threaded barrel. I've never seen the longer model at any gun stores or shows. I'm anxious for it to get here. :) As for the changes, I too usually leave most guns stock unless it's something like an AR or my CX4 Beretta Storm which beg to have optics and other things added. I liked the fiber optics on other pistols I've had and decided to try it on the SR22. I think it looks better on the gun than the little plastic doodad they put on them. And I like that you can change from green to red to a solid white if you prefer a solid white dot.
@@DWB65 You mentioned trading a Glock 44 to get the Ruger.I say good trade.I've mentioned in past videos that The Glock 44 and Taurus TX22 feel more like airsoft pistols. There's no solid feel to them like a Ruger has.The G44 & TX22 don't feel like real firearms to me.I like that good solid feeling when it comes to a handgun.I also have the Beretta M9-22 which is made by Umarex. It isn't quiet as heavy as the M9 itself but it still is heavier & has a much more solid feel to it than the G44 or TX22.And it comes with a 16 round magazine,so I ordered 2 more mags from Bud's.

I almost bought the Umarex M9-22 that was at the gun store but ended up getting the Glock. I lost some on the trade for the SR22 but I am much happier with the pistol than I was the Glock with the build and features. And I read that people shot the hell out of them straight out of the box, with hundreds of rounds without a hiccup other than ones caused by crappy cheap ammo. Mine works great, got the steel rod, $ 458.00 best 22 pistol I own. Very fast shooter . Stingers work good, trigger good TOO , this is the first video I saw 4 1/2 barrel, mini mags shoot very well , cheap ammunition works okay, if copper jacket, remember lead Ammunition bullets might clean more. Mine is a keeper too.⚓️🇺🇸Also a KISS Fan.👍
When I made this video, there wasn't really anything much about this model version here on YT.That's pretty much the reason this video runs so long.I also have the Mk IV Standard pistol,SR9 and SR45.I do also like Glock pistols. Thanks for watching.
@@garageguy879 Thanks for doing this video,I have the SR22 in 3.5 barrel version that I bought it new in 2012 and really like it. I love my Ruger SR22 it has the 3.5" barrel. The really cool thing about the SR22 is the fixed barrel. I put a Crimson Trace Rail Master Laser on it and it was really easy to zero the laser. Just take the slide off and and look down the barrel like you would a rifle and adjust the laser until you see the laser dot in the middle of the barrel. Being a senior the laser helps out a lot if you fall and can't get your sights lined up. Just put the laser dot on your target and shoot away.
I just bought a used sr22 so I dont know when it was made so I have to assume it was made after yours because it has a metal trigger and a metal takedown lever also a long slide
Is there difference between the 3.5in and 4.5in models? Like performance wise and not looks. 4.5in looks better to me. Is there anything pros to cons between them?
Good question.A lot of people have told me that they like the shorter version better because of it's looks. To me,that's meaningless, they both work equally well. The pro for the 4.5 inch version is longer sight radius for target aqusition and the 3.5 inch version is almost a pocket gun.I can't think of any cons for either version.
I just got one of these from Gander Mountain. It is very nice, feels great, looks really sharp, even stylish. Watch out when you change the finger extender. You must make sure the plastic plate and spring are held in, otherwise it may be the last time you'll see it. I am having a devil of a time getting the installed grip off.
Does the hammer bite your hand? Also, you can buy some really beefy aftermarket take down levers that are nearly indestructible. Also, I agree that the polymer guide rod is sufficient for this gun. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
