I remember what it was like in the late 50s-early 60s. Lit up like fairyland at night. The nooks and crannies with gnomes and fairies all the way down nearly to the beach. A magical place to a young girl from London.
.... I remember too. My Aunt & Uncle retired to a detached house nearby. - They thought They'd be 'long gone' before the erosion reached the House; three small lawns went ..... one after the other & THEN the house itself. A Great old Place - roses round the front door kind of look to It. They both ended up returning to Southampton; it must have broken Her heart!! Phil. Liverpool UK 🇬🇧
I remember in the nineties walking down a road there and the tarmac was all cracked and ready to go, like an earthquake had been. A little further the road had disappeared. We peered down and two cars were at the bottom. Loads more has fallen away, even since then.
its getting closer to the Maze now and the Drop Tower. Dont think they will put a new ride on the base of cliffhanger as that road behind it looks it next to be eaten by the cliff. Think its got plenty of years left as they got all the are near Fairyland etc, but the area around Nurseryland may not have long left
Well, how long has it had so far? 🤔(or are we talking about optimistically planning construction close to an exposed coast line and assuming a “King Canute” stance?…)
They're digging their way out. Legend has it that fishermen hear their pickaxes on quiet summers nights and some say they've seen the lights from their lanterns through the cracks in the rock....
Indeed, but footage from last year showed the maze at the very edge. One needs to see a full over-and above aerial shot of it really. You'd better go bad, lol. 😄 All that stuff piled up below has been like that for years but there's bound to have been some slippage towards the beach.
Just seen a photo from IOWCP (25.3.24) which is maybe after your visit. Looks very similar is not worse with a pile of black stuff on the beach. Are you going back to this area in the near future?

It's very different now ..
Years of errosion have taken its toll

Shows just how unstoppable nature really is.
I remember when the attractions zig zag down the chine. You had great views along the coast from the walkways.
Interesting landslide ! Nicely captured from the air! Greetings from Poland😁
Thank you very much!

I'm sure it's less than half the size it used to be. The car park looks bigger than the area of the attractions!
Looks a lot like Black's Beach in La Jolla , California. There was a recent slide there that is shown somewhere on You Tube.

Is this a new landslide?
Agreed
Sadly
high value seaside property becomes worthless 😭

buried under there somewhere are all the gnomes !

hope to be there to see it!!!!
Thanks for letting us see the present state of affairs down there. Difficult to tell from this angle if any of the maze has fallen.
It's very very close too the edge of the maze .. id really hope that the maze isn't opened

I've just uploaded a new video of this site , and you can see great details
quite sad that it hasn't got long left
Why is there music on this ? It wasn’t playing at that location was it ?
No it wasn't
..
But a completely silent video isn't appealing to most people
Not a pretty coast erosion has hit hard.
A big concern! UK.
Where is this?
Isle of wight
K that was stupid
Its very sad to think people moved near the sea for the beautiful view, probably a long way inland, now almost in the sea.
