Captain Chip, it’s clear to me that it is indeed you. While we have not had the opportunity to meet in person, please know that the admiration and respect I, along with countless Boat Friends, hold for you and your crew are immense. Your endeavors throughout the winter, breaking ice for the colossal vessels and providing indispensable assistance as you did for the Indiana Harbor, are nothing short of heroic. To all of us within the Great Lakes shipping community, you are a veritable celebrity. The sound of your voice over the radio, signaling your approach to aid another vessel, resonates with a sense of security and camaraderie. Your unwavering dedication has garnered you an extensive fan base, all of whom share a profound respect for the work you undertake. I am immensely grateful for your precious time spent watching one of the videos and leaving a comment. It is my sincere hope that one day I will have the honor of shaking your hand and expressing my gratitude in person for the incredible service you provide.
Hi there Captain. First, thanks for letting us know the issue with the Indiana Harbor. Just wanted to say I really respect your craft. I've enjoyed watching you for several years now. Your cool, calm, and professional demeanor is always quite noticeable. I hope you comment again in the future. We love having you here. Oh, prior to the Baltimore event, would this situation have required two tugs???
Howdy vibe Mike I have a credible source living there in Duluth that works in the ship community in the habor and he knows what happened to the Indiana harbor boat. the man relayed this to me in his words . “They escorted out since they had some mechanical issues going on, since they did not have a back up operating, maritime rules state that in an enclosed harbor they must have tug assist.”
We still don't know the nature of the mechanical issue/s. The mystery lives on! We may never know as mechanical by itself is too vague. Often companies keep this type of thing private.
It’s absolutely amazing knowing that tugboat is almost 100 years old. It’s still working just as hard as the first day that it was laid in the water. I hope you’re having a wonderful Tuesday. It’s always great hearing from you.🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍👍👍👍
Great video Mike. Nice sunny day, surfers, the IH, horn blast and that dry dock pic was awesome. Those workers looked like ants next to this glorious ship. 🚢 👍
Looks like a beautiful day for ship watching. It's just amazing to see the small tug pull the huge ship. Thank you for the great narration about the ship. Can't wait until I see yhem live when I visit Duluth
Thank you @CharlesKingman for the explanation on the problems of the wonderful Indiana Harbor. I hate to see any of these big beautiful freighters down, especially just starting the 2024 season. She still had the Spirit to give a good Captains salute to the Bridge and Boat Buddies. Safe crossing to Catain & Crew of the Indiana Harbor. May you find a quick solution to your mechanical problems. ⚓🙏🛳
All of us, both friends look forward to seeing the Indiana Harbor back at full strength returning back to Duluth soon. Stay safe to all the crewmembers and captain.
It was really fun, capturing those beautiful tugboats that were assisting. Think about this, the Missouri tugboat that you saw that video was almost built 100 years ago. It’s unbelievable to think about that. m.th-cam.com/video/8JK39upcI3Y/w-d-xo.html
I was fortunate enough to be visiting Two Harbors, MN Taconite docks on August 27, 2011 and the Indiana Harbor pulled in to load. It was a stunning day on Lake Superior and it was fascinating to watch the precision of the workers handling the ship and loading the taconite! I think the Captain of the ship was taking precautions for some reason as they left on this recent trip out of Duluth. I wish the Captain and crew safe sailing!
B, if the kids asked about the coal and their stocking, at least you could say hey, this isn’t any coal, this is coal that was earmarked to be on a ship! 😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️
Think I’ll cool it would be to be surfing. I would on Lake superior and looking over and watching 1000 foot or go right by you. That Hass to be pretty entertaining for those surfers out on Lake Superior⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️👍👍👍🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️
Hi Mike, lovely sunshine you have there! Looking forward to the better weather. I’m sure though, if it was anything serious, they wouldn’t let her sail? Interesting to see what happen at the destination, see if she requires assistance there?

Paul, I’m glad that you were enjoying these videos. There’s going to be some fun ones that I’ll be recording this weekend of an ocean going ship arriving in Duluth
@@vibewithmike wow amazing the Great Lakes are something else I flew over Superior from Calgary to Toronto and was amazed to see so many Big Freighters on the Lake Hopefully a Visit to Duluth in the near future 👍👍
There are now 3 footers dealing with issues. The Indiana Harbor, the American Spirit in Stugeon Bay, and PRT in Superior. Lets hope they all get their issues resolved soon.

Yeah, there could be some type of mechanical issue but the thing that was crazy is once the ship got out on Lake superior it started moving without the tugs. Not too sure. If I have an update, I’ll let you know. I would love to be in Australia right now. I know that weather is a lot better than what I’m dealing with. And that beautiful ocean you have🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
How could anyone be in that fridged water!!?? Wonder why the Indiana Harbor was being towed?? I think I have a tug crush!!!! Arent' they the cutest????
These tugboats are so beautiful and Dan don’t forget about something Elizabeth. They are very old. These tugboats are a lot older than you think. Take a look at how old the Missouri is as an example. Take a look at this link. www.tugboatinformation.com/tug.cfm?id=11814

From a couple videos that I"ve seen, there is going to be an increase in tug support, going in and out of harbors everywhere. It has become commonplace to dismiss the tugs after getting underway in the channel. All it takes, is for one system to fail, and you're scrambling to correct the issue.
You have a really good point! These are massive ships and like you said, something could go wrong and there could be catastrophic issues like we saw Baltimore. I really didn’t think about that. Maybe this could be a new trend emerging from a safety standpoint for ships? ⛴️👍
We will have to keep our eye on other ships in the future. I was really perplexed about the situation. I definitely thought something was wrong, but maybe there wasn’t? Again, the ship took off under its own power after it got onto thelake.
Hey Mike, this is Stuart in Naples Florida Man great video. Looks like you got some good weather up there. That's a good thing. 80° here today in Naples, Florida. It's going to be 90 or 89 I think. Tuesday or Wednesday here. I need to come up there and see the Ariel lift bridge a bit of a long ride. But hey it'll be worth it😅
You definitely have to make it up to Duluth the check out the ships and beautiful lakes superior. I know it’s a long way to get here but believe me it’ll be worth every second of travel time to get here once you see these thousand foot ships go right by you.
@@vibewithmike yeah that'll be great. I have a a brand new 2024 Ram 3500 with a massive Arctic fox truck camper on the truck and I can pretty much have my hotel room with me as a old saying goes 😜
@cynthiabrandt679 that truck is a beast and believe me it would have no problem getting through the deep Snow and Duluth when we actually do get deep Snow
Charlie, when I heard the radio call, I knew something was odd, but I still don’t know exactly what the issue is. Someone was actually suggesting that it could be a new security protocol since the Baltimore situation may be using tugboats to help. I will definitely let you know what I hear about this. I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend, my friend.
Hey Mike was just wondering is lake superior tidal as the water is slighter higher or lower in your videos, you probably get asked a 100 times lol from you boat friend and neighbour in Cornwall England 😊loving the new content this year my friend 😊

This is excellent information! This is the first time I heard any information regarding a possible real reason. Thank you so much for watching the video and shedding a little bit of light on this issue for all of us with the ship.
@@vibewithmike I am not sure on how all that works ,, l think it has to do with they could not bring up their screen for the harbor , kind of like when you go to Google maps and if you use your satellite , and you get it that blank area
Mike, Peeps at the Soo Locks reported Indiana Harbor had tug assistance from the Soo past the Mackinac Bridge. Reason stated was generator problems and with the recent events especially the Key bridge no one was taking any chances. Was not aware it was a USCG order.
@@HansiD313 I want to thank you for keeping us up-to-date. I think it’s very cool of you to take time out of your day to keep us in the loop. It means a lot to all of us. Thank you so much, my friend. Have a fantastic Tuesday night.
Might have something to do with insurance rates for the ships as well post Baltimore. Hard to say without knowing all the facts. Have a good weekend Mike, take care and God Bless!!!❤😊
There’s definitely a lot of speculation about possible safety. It sounds like lumpy. I’ll keep you in the loop and let you know what’s happening. God bless and have a fantastic Sunday ahead.
@@vibewithmike I know it's a safety thing above all. However insurance rates may go up if the ships are not escorted in and a out of ports or canals. Anytime that insurance companies take a hit for big money they raise their rates and put conditions on every policy to hopefully avoid having to pay out a claim. Therefor if you have an accident in a canal or port without being tethered to a tug boat we will not pay your claim. Insurance is a dirty scam, you have to have it. You have to pay what they charge, and they will fight you all the way before paying your claim. Then they will raise your rates to the point you can't have insurance through them ever again. That was the point I was conveying. More hoops to have to jump through in order to run a business.
Hi Mike, id be inerested to know if you have any more older tugs and boats operating in the Duluth harbour as these craft usually get on with their duties unrecognised
She got picked up going thru the Soo Locks last night by the Wilfred M Cohen. Tug went thru the locks 1st and then IH. Tug stayed after exiting the locks but I went to bed before she got too far downbound.
So what do you think is going on? There’s some speculation that there’s an issue with them being able to use their navigation system? Again, that’s a rumor, I don’t want to spread any misinformation, but everybody is just trying to get the bottom of why the ship needed that assistance in Duluth.
@@vibewithmike I am so new at this!!!! But it must be some kind of navigation issue!! She was met at some point in the St. Marys river. I noticed it near the area called Shallows but it didn't seem to be actually doing what the tugs here were doing. Moderator running the Soo Locks cam (Joe Cool) didn't know either.
@@vibewithmike just checked and the Cohen is upbound now down by St. Joseph's Island. Not sure if she has been with IH all night and day. Maybe she just helped IH get to Lake Huron.

@billychambliss-oe8fq thanks Billy, I’m still going to figure out what happened and let you know. This ship is huge and it was crazy to watch it go out having the tugs bring it out.
Hey Mike and all the GLOBAL BOAT FRIEND NATION, from a balmy and windy Bismarck. This is also something I never saw in my time living in Duluth…. That must cost someone a fortune, and has to be a mechanical issue such as electronics I would guess. Or maybe Homland Security is now requiring assisted entry’s whenever a bridge is involved due Baltimore? In any case, you have another rare one like the skipper getting a lift to Grammas. Nicely done as always. Was that one of Ms Cargill’s houses on Park Point I wonder???
Boat Friends Nation!!!!!! You are definitely on something, many people have been talking about this possibility of the tugs assisting the ship for possible security reasons. Definitely keep an eye on it. I think this would be interesting if this becomes a normal thing with these ships.

I LOVE watching your videos. One thing I would like for you to add (maybe you already do this and I have not caught them) but if you could tell us what the blasts of the horn mean. Like one long and two short. And also what some of the symbols painted on the ships mean. I am thinking they help the tug boats or pilot boats but not sure. I am just an old lady that needs to know these things just in case in my next life I become a sailor. Thank you.
It’s such a pleasure receiving a comment from you. You always say so many positive things. There have been a few questions about the boat and bridge signal horns when the boats are entering and leaving the Port of Duluth. In most cases, once radio communication with the bridge has been established, use of the boat and bridge sound signals are not necessary and operation of the sound signals is left up to the captains. Often, boats will not use the loud horns after dark as a courtesy to city residents. So, most often when you hear the customary whistle/horn-blowing sequence of "long-short-short" it is a friendly salute to the Port of Duluth from the ship captain and is responded to by the lift bridge operator with the same sequence. The Master Salute is an upgraded more formal whistle/horn salute. That is “long-long-long-short-short.” While the famous sound may be a courtesy, it has long been part of the nautical tradition of this great inland sea port.
Fantastic question. Those tugs ended up coming back and the ship continued out on the lake. Carl, take a look at the comment at the very top that I pinned to the comment section. One of the Boat Friends found out what happened to the ship.
I believe she picked up additional tug support at the Soo and down the St Mary's river. Once into Lake Huron no tugs. And now she is in northern Lake Michigan moving along without tugs.
Well, it could have something to do with what happened to the key bridge in Baltimore Maryland, because that vessel was having engine trouble and if it’s been guided by tugboats, it never would’ve ran into the bridge. So that vessel could have had some kind of engine trouble earlier and they didn’t wanna take any chances of the engines dying going towards the bridge.
Excellent, great information and a great perspective. Thank you so much, Kathy. Did you get a chance to see this video from yesterday? I think you’ll find it interesting. It was pretty wild out there. th-cam.com/video/ygtYpymMg6E/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BMgJEIQR33Wjt08A

Whatever anyone thought at any time, they believed it would be okay once it was out of the canal, with tugs coming straight back. How experienced was captain, whether with this ship or on the canal?
That is very true, those tug boats came straight back. I wonder if they had enough rudder movement once they got out on the lake, when I heard the radio called the captain did not give a reason. He just said he needed some assistance.
I know someone else mentioned it, but has the port in Duluth or has there been federal regulations requiring tugboat assistance since Baltimore? You may be seeing a whole lot more of those tugboats.
I’m really getting the feeling this could be the reason. And for those that one understand SOP, that’s standard operating procedure. Another thing that starting to lead me to believe you’re right with this is that the load was extremely heavy, the ship was filled with taconite. Maybe because of all of that weight in that ship they didn’t want to take a chance, but then again other ships have been leaving with that much weight so I don’t know for sure.
@4:14 : you could really set up a camera around sunset and make a nice 1-2 hour “play in the background” relaxation video. Not exactly your channel’s goal, but so beautiful!
I totally agree with you, there are some beautiful sunrises and sunsets in Duluth. I’ve often thought about doing a video of that. just like you said, an actual sunset that last an hour and a half or whatever it might be no time lapse stuff.
The Indy has four main engines, (EMD 20 cylinders each 645 E3B) into a a twin shaft reduction gear to two main shafts with variable pitch propellers. Two engines on the port and two on the starboard. Each engine can be de-clutched as needed. She can also run with just one side only operating but a bit slower. Unless it is a stern bearing issue that requires dry docking after she is unloaded. If it is a steering gear issue that would prompt the escort in the navigation channel. The steering gear is a hydraulic engine to move the rudders and is fairly simple and repairable while underway across Lake Siberia. If she didn't have an escort into the locks and down Detour channel it is probably fixed.
This is absolutely fantastic information. What an All-Star comment. It provides all of us with information about the ship and its current status, this is fantastic Sandy.
It did appear that the props were turning by the little prop wash in the back, but did I not see any sign of exhaust coming out of stacks. Its possible the forward thruster were not working.

You will probably see a lot more of this after the Key bridge incident and another ship shut down near a bridge recently. According to another commenter one of the gensets where inop.
There definitely is a cost to have the tugs assist at big ship. However, that bridge that you see, there’s absolutely no cost to lift that bridge. It’s part of the Maritime process and Duluth. The bridge is owned by the city. I really appreciate you taking time to watch this video on a Saturday. The ship almost certainly suffered a mechanical failure, perhaps one of the main generators which might cause the USCG to require their tug assistance/escort.
Gee, I wonder why anyone would do this. Could it possibly be because some folks don't want to take the risk of hitting a bridge or something, while manuvering in confined waters.
What ended up happening is it was a generator that was down on the ship. The Coast Guard orders are that the ship must have assistance going out. It was a rule that was in place. Many people have said the same thing so far. I’m really believing this could be the case. Maybe some these thousand footers will need the tugs moving forward for safety.
@michaelstamper3096 that’s a lot of weight if you think about a 77,000 tons this ship can carry you alone and that’s not even the actual weight of the ship
No worries, James. It’s a really sad situation that happened in Baltimore. I hope we never see that happen again. Thanks for taking time to watch the ship video. It really means a lot. Thank you for being a wonderful Boat friend.
could it be the ship lost either bow thrusters or stern thrusters oe both and that is why she need the two tugs i am allways amazed at how powerful these tugs are and how small compared to these great lakes monster lakers and just how skilled the captains are on these tugs one question why are the lakers bows so rounded would it have anything to do with control of them as they push much more water at the bows over the ocean going cargo ships as the all have sharp bows on them would that be one reason for such rounded bows they always remind me of the great sailing war ships like the HMS VICTORY has she has a rounded bow like all of the war ships and cargo ships or her time last love all the videos you make its great to see these majestic lakers go out and into of the harbours could she have lost a prop blade
Fantastic question about the shape of the bow. Great question the 1000 foot Great Lakes ships were constructed to fit into the lock (i.e. Soo Locks) without room to spare. It is all’s about maximizing the cargo capacity. Look at the photo linked below. You can see how those big ships are molded to the Soo Lock chamber. npr.brightspotcdn.com/dims4/default/df3bfe2/2147483647/strip/true/crop/6144x4088+0+0/resize/880x586!/quality/90/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnpr-brightspot.s3.amazonaws.com%2Flegacy%2Fsites%2Fwiaa%2Ffiles%2F202103%2Fsoo_locks_-_usace_0.jpg

Hi there. If you start watching at the 6:50 mark, you'll easily see exhaust from both stacks. Early on in the video the exhaust was tough to see due to the lack of contrast against the sky. The ship had power....which she quickly used once clearing the canal.
I saw that, it’s a beautiful ship and I really hope it fixes whatever the issue was. One of the Boat friends actually knows somebody that told us what happened. Take a look at the very top of the comment section for this video.

Thank you for this information, Charles. I’m pinning this to the top of the comments since this answers all of our questions!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
We still don't know the nature of the mechanical issue/s. The mystery lives on! We may never know as mechanical by itself is too vague. Often companies keep this type of thing private.
That’s still true Chuck, some mechanical issue that we don’t know but now we know it’s mechanical.
Hi guys I wonder if they will be assisted in when they get where they are going ?

What a beautiful day and so interesting to see the tug boat helping ship out
Great video, Mike! I love Missouri so much and it always amazes me what an almost 100-years old lady could still do! Love this tiny hard worker.

All of us, both friends look forward to seeing the Indiana Harbor back at full strength returning back to Duluth soon. Stay safe to all the crewmembers and captain.
I could just hear the Missouri, " You need a hand? Hold my beer, I'll show you how it's done."
And that’s exactly how it would be done! No joking around all business withthat tug
Another awesome video Mike! You really got some cool shots today😊
As a joke I filled some ziplocs with coal and taconite and put them in my kid’s Christmas stockings

That is so true. Perhaps this is a look into the future.
We will have to keep our eye on other ships in the future. I was really perplexed about the situation. I definitely thought something was wrong, but maybe there wasn’t? Again, the ship took off under its own power after it got onto thelake.
Heard the same that tug businesses were going to get very busy after the Baltimore incident. This may become the norm.
@critterscute3642 we are definitely going to have to keep our eye on the ships and the tugs

I think the captain spent too much time at Bent Paddle Brewery! Needed some “assistance” getting out of the harbor! 🤣
Charlie, when I heard the radio call, I knew something was odd, but I still don’t know exactly what the issue is.

Hey Mike and all the GLOBAL BOAT FRIEND NATION, from a balmy and windy Bismarck. This is also something I never saw in my time living in Duluth…. Nicely done as always. Was that one of Ms Cargill’s houses on Park Point I wonder???

@@chuckg6039 I hope Charles can find out what the actual mechanical issue was
@@vibewithmike Sure would be interesting.

Take a look at the very top of the comment section for this video because one of the Boat Friends has a friend that has information about what was going on with the ship. Take a look at that comment from Charles.
You may be seeing a whole lot more of those tugboats.
take a look at the comment at the very top that I pinned to the comment section. One of the Boat Friends found out what happened to the ship.
I think this will be S.O.P. everywhere... since the bridge taken out.
…sunrise?
Good eye, my friend, we ended up finding out what happened. Take a look at the comment section and look at the comment at the very top for this video. The captain on the tugboat told us that a generator was down on the ship so based on port rules that ship had to be escorted out.
Missed it again live. Sorry
This was a live premier video. It was fun to chat with everybody as a played. However, I’m really glad that you were able to watch this. It was a fun video. I put it together with a little more information for people.
Were the Indiana Harbour engines running under tow?
It didn’t look like the engines were running because there was no exhaust coming out of those stacks if you look in the video
with all the ships hitting bridges the past few weeks , i can see the added protection
That’s what all of us have been thinking about. It has something to do a Baltimore. We were thinking Bruce, take a look at the comment at the very top that I pinned to the comment section. One of the Boat Friends found out what happened to the ship.
Whatever became of the Anderson? Is it out of layup?
Stephanie, I’m glad that you asked about the Anderson. I actually recorded the Anderson as a left Winter layup right here. A few weeks ago. ⚓️Duluth Escape: Ship ‘Anderson’ Dodging A Fitzgerald Storm!

@@vibewithmike yes! I saw that one. But I thought some time ago in one of your live videos there was discussion that the ship had been sitting somewhere since then? Wisconsin maybe? And people couldn’t find info on its next voyage. Maybe not! I was worried for the ole gal! Maritime traffic shows her to be headed from Sault Ste. Marie to Indiana harbor!
It was sitting there for a while, but it departed and it’s been doing good since then
I wonder if one or both of those tugs use to be in Lorain. For years there were several tugs stationed in Lorain back when we had a shipyard.🥵
I think you might be right about those tugs. I’m gonna look into that. I hope you subscribe and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. That is a tiny tether connecting to that tug. That tug wasn't doing any real "tugging" with a line like that.
You’re right, that line was more for guiding it. I was wondering about that. That line would have to be pretty strong if it were pulling.
I thought the same thing. Both tugs were just available if need be. I could see prop wash so the IH was powering out. And starting at 6:50 I could see engine exhaust.

Hi could it be they're just insuring no accident like the criminal wreck in baltimore?
James, how are you my friend? I hope your weekend is going great so far. Take a look at the comment at the very top that I pinned in the comment section. One of the Boat friends knows a person that actually told him what was going on with this ship. Check that out.
Deleted that last comment. I was thinking this was a live video so wasn't looking in the right spot. After searching, I found it. She's at the far northern end of Lake Michigan heading to Gary, IN.
OK, I’ve been keeping my eye on the ship to see what happens. Maybe when it’s all said and done the captain just wanted to tug assistance, and that was it, no other reason.
Every big ship needs a little tug once in a while.
Very true, very true! One of the Boat Friends has a contact that was able to figure out what actually happened with the ship. Take a look at the comment section and I have it pinned to the very top.
You will probably see a lot more of this after the Key bridge incident and another ship shut down near a bridge recently. According to another commenter one of the gensets where inop.
Did you see this video from today, Gary? th-cam.com/users/liveZeIlY1mJ3_8?si=rYMuath_3b3VupxS
Can you even imagine the cost of getting that ship through there? The tugs? The cost of 'lifting' the bridge must be astronomical, as well.
If there’s one video I want you to check out, take a look at the one that I have linked right here. It’s unbelievable the conditions on the water and the sky. Also I hope you subscribe my friend. th-cam.com/video/mKzamgCa6zw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8SBx0jUA317taMpD
@@vibewithmike I kind of expected this. The 'cost' of lifting is born by someone... Maybe not as a 'toll', but it costs to work the bridge. Taxpayers, ultimately.
Tony, I’m so glad that you brought this up man. I did some research not too long ago because I always thought the same thing. Can you believe that it’s only a few 95 hp engines that lift the bridge? It’s absolutely amazing and almost unbelievable. Check this out, brother. zenithcity.com/archive/parks-landmarks/how-duluths-aerial-lift-bridge-works/
Hi Tony. Luckily the lifting cost is more than made up by what shipping brings to the economy.....both local, state, and national.@@TonyTitleGuy

Hello from North Carolina 44f and clear atm.
Well, I hope you have a wonderful Sunday going there North Carolina my friend. Anytime I hear North Carolina, I think of a wonderful experience I had in Charlotte many years ago.
The ship almost certainly suffered a mechanical failure, perhaps one of the main generators which might cause the USCG to require their tug assistance/escort.
You are exactly right, that’s what happened. Did you see the video today? th-cam.com/users/liveZeIlY1mJ3_8?si=rYMuath_3b3VupxS
However, we both know that safety is the most important thing. Thank you so much for taking time on a Friday to watch this video. I hope you subscribe and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. It’s all about having fun with the ships!👍👍👍⛴️⛴️⛴️
Possibly an abundance of caution after the Baltimore incident.
There’s definitely going to be a big changes in the Maritime industry after the Baltimore incident.
They had a ship with an issue in New York after the Baltimore harbor. The tugs steered her until she regained control and power
I heard about that, that’s a scary situation
Well it's easy to surmise, given the Baltimore tradegy. Perhaps the Master of this vessel knows he may lose propulsion?
Bruce, absolutely brother. I feel so bad for everybody and involved in Baltimore. It was such a sad situation and I can barely watch that video when it popped up on the news. We ended up finding out that there was a generator down on the ship and because of Coast Guard rules that had to have assistance leaving the port. Take a look at the very top comment for this video. It was actually a comment from the tugboat captain that verified that was assisting. I hope you subscribe and come back to my channel to watch more ship videos moving forward. What app do you use to see the ships
Mike, great question friend. The app I use is called “MarineTraffic” and it has a blue ship for the logo. You will really enjoy it! You can research vessel names and follow ships all over the world. I hope you enjoy! All the best friend!👍👍⛴️⛴️
1000 foot vessel the "American Intergrity" you have to see this video😮Image if there's more for people to live on this type of vessel. A few in the world like the movie "2012" #mustseevideo
Question, if they need help to get to the lake , what happens then?
There’s still a lot of speculation surrounding what happened with the ship. After the ship made it to Lake Superior via tugs it seemed to move on its own power after that. The tugs came back to Duluth. I’m not sure what happened after but I’m guessing we will find out soon.
@@vibewithmike towards the end of the stream I noticed that there was none of not any steam coming out of the stacks
@ILikeGT_101 it was a very odd situation all around. I’ll keep my ear to the ground and see what information I find out about about what happened with this ship.
It can only turn left cause the right blinker is broken. It's a Polish Freighter.
I wonder if they need to add some blinker fluid?

Beastly
If any young person is looking for a career in tugs, now would be the opportunity to jump on it. My guess tugs are going to be required a lot more.
Jim, what an absolutely excellent point. There definitely is going to be an emphasis on safety and those tugs are going to be big part of that game plan for ports.
My guess is the Baltimore Harbor incident. It's not about how impressive the ships are but damage that can be caused
Many people have said the same thing so far. I’m really believing this could be the case. Maybe some these thousand footers will need the tugs moving forward for safety.
@@vibewithmike even the smaller ships fully loaded could probably crack the pier walls where people stand
@michaelstamper3096 that’s a lot of weight if you think about a 77,000 tons this ship can carry you alone and that’s not even the actual weight of the ship
Mike I sincerely do not mean anything political in my statement, just my unbiased opinion of the events in baltimore. Tragic!!!!!

Hi there. If you start watching at the 6:50 mark, you'll easily see exhaust from both stacks. Early on in the video the exhaust was tough to see due to the lack of contrast against the sky. The ship had power....which she quickly used once clearing the canal.
@chuckg6039 good to know Chuck
