@@GeographerOnline oh ok... just seems different from the other videos in terms of number of lines. like this one th-cam.com/video/WNE0k7Yg8kM/w-d-xo.html in it, the number of lines not including the border lines is 9 ... while in 4:06 the number of lines not including the border lines seems to be 8.
wow! thank you for the 6 figure reference explanation!! i really didn't understand it earlier. so, can i make those 10 lines in a box or should i just estimate?
So it doesn't matter if you have a 1:50k or a 24k or a 62k map, they all are 1000 meter grid lines right, so I can use my protractor and get distance and azimuth . I'm I correct in that assumption?
i didn't get you exactly, why are u using a protractor? for bearings? but anyways yes it doesn't matter whatever the map ratio is.. you just have to read those lines.. eastings first and northings later
@@xdgaming952 my square military UTM tool. It's 50k , 10k , 25k/250k scales on it. My q. Is can I use it on a 24k scaled map since every grid is 1000 meter squares regardless of map detail , whether it be 62k or 50k or 24k
@@caseykelso1 ah, sorry, i don't know the asnwer to this :( cuz i don't use tools on these and i don't know what u are using and how it would affect the answer
You counted the main easting and northing lines as a 1 when they are actually a 0! ;) so the grid reference is 046 245. Otherwise great demo for eastings and northings. Very helpful cheers!
So just to be sure, northings are not latitudes and eastings are not longitudes, do i have that correct? I first thought they were the same but then you said northings and eastings always go up in value as you move further north and east respectively. But latitudes only do so if you are in the northern hemisphere and longitudes only if you are east of the 0 degree meridian
This helped so much (I have an exam tomorrow )
One day before geography exam… this help me a lot

Thank youuuuu my doubts are cleared!!!
This was so helpful thought it would be harder
really really really helpful .........i wonder y the expla sounds so different and much better than xul.
so helpful tysm!! ❤️
4:06 it seems to be 046245 if we use your lines. i thought it should be divided into 10x10 squares. yours is 9x9 or 9x8. im confused
The 10th line is the next grid reference. So if you ready 019 then the next 6th figure will make it 020 - another square

yep get the main eastings then northings and if doesn't entirely line up estimate it along with your local knowledge of the area.
I prefer estimate
I draw the lines so that, I don't miss the value🤷♀️
