  • The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene, has created a series of micro training videos on Safety topics and areas of concern.
    This video is a review of numbers associated with trench box safety. This is not intended to be all inclusive, but a supplement to a company’s specific policies and training.

    Do you have to shore at 4ft ?

      @rcperformance7991 - from BWC's Safety Consultants: It depends. If an excavation is less than 5 feet, an examination of the ground by a competent person must occur. If there is no indication of a potential cave-in, protection systems are not required per the standard. However, serious injuries can occur less than 5 feet so ensure you inspect adequately and protect employees accordingly.
