This is a great video showing me how empathetic Elena is. Caroline will always be my gal, but Elena I can see has great qualities like emotional intelligence. And I hope more people see this video to let go of the argument that Steroline was forced on the show only because of Elena "ditching" Stefan or whatever but she seems supportive and let them develop

Yes, Caroline reminds him of Lexi, because both women are badass and empathetic, but Stefan realized that just looking at Caroline through that lens was limiting their potential to be more. Caroline has attributes of Lexi, but she's her own whole other character, otherwise Stefan would've dated Lexi too (I can't remember if they did in canon, but 95% sure he and Lexi stayed platonic, but correct me if they did go romantic at one point). And even Lexi herself said: "You really don't see it, do you?" Because Stefan was limiting his and Caroline's relationship by slightly projecting Lexi onto Caroline. It only feels forced from Stefan’s POV because he needed to realize that he could be more with Caroline. He could fall in love with the fact that no matter what, Caroline makes him laugh, smile - in any moment, she makes him happy, even when they fight. She calls Stefan out on his BS just like Lexi did too, but Caroline also says "enough" if Stefan refuses to listen or understand. She set that boundary. Whereas Lexi I feel is more of a savior like character to Stefan. She's there to help him no matter what, regardless if he wants her there or not. Which is the difference between her and Caroline, and like what makes a best friend and romantic partner. Lexi was always loyal. Caroline gave Stefan loyalty too, but made her own decisions that would bring her happiness. Stefan falls in love with that; Caroline isn't hopelessly or blindly devoted and draws the line when he is unfair. No doubt Lexi loves Stefan, but she is more of a persistent guardian to guide Stefan to do the right thing. Caroline more "wakes him up" to why she is in love with him, (he always has a good heart) but she has respect for herself to not blindly follow her loyalty which is also what makes her heartbroken at times, because she wants to be a good friend to Stefan and is very much so. But Caroline chooses for her life to not stop if Stefan says no. She mourns the opportunity and takes her moments to cry, but powers through it, whereas Lexi would've persisted Stefan. A friend always wants the best for you, but in a relationship, your life shouldn't stop for a person if they don't want to "saved" in a sense, or for lack of a better term. I hope that shows why I at least love them together. That's what makes them a sweet "friends to lovers" story. Caroline desired more, but still decided to love Stefan and defend him as a friend; to be what he wanted and she accepted that. But she drew the boundary when it wasn't making her happy. She was in love and Stefan was scared to see it, but he acknowledged that his feelings also changed. He didn't know when or how, but he and Caroline could be more. Because Caroline valued herself. Yes, you can call it selfish of her, because Lexi would've been loyal still, or Lexi alsobhas value for herself, but that's my point when a friend becomes your romantic partner. A sister can be your friend and can be so loyal, and know that her brother is good, but when Stefan has his jerk moments, Caroline sets aside her loyalty to be happy, because again, life shouldn't stop or revolve around a partner and what they want if it goes against your values. But she still defends Stefan when they're apart, because she still knows he's a good person and loves him. She just gives Stefan space to realize that for himself. And Lexi I find is more protective, like an older sibling. She knows Stefan can do better and hammers it into him. She also has fun doing that and accepts that as her job, because nobody else would do that. Until Caroline came along and understood the burden of how restrained Stefan has to be as a vampire and ripper. And Caroline simply has fun with Stefan. In almost every moment, they make each other happy in the pain. She's gladly his sober sponsor to guide him too onto the path of good, but if Stefan refuses, she calls a time out and lets him go find his own way. If you read all of that, then thanks 😅 and I hope you can agree with some of the points I made on why I like them romantically.

Elena was not possessive, there was not one single bone in her body that was possessive, it’s even worse than being jealous. Possessiveness shows huge mental damage and that’s not who Elena was. Her reaction here was more like “I knew it, that’s why you kept giving me hard time about Damon and kept pushing me to Stefan because you have feelings for him so now i’m gonna call both of you out on it may be you both will leave me and Damon alone”
@Sandy-k4k4vThe episode and scene being referenced is early Season 4 after Stefan spent almost all of Season 3 being obsessed over the cure for Elena and Damon's sire bond so no he hasn't let it go for very long at that point. This is Elena starting to become aware of what's going on with Caroline and her budding blossom relationship with Stefan in a point of time where things are stressed with Tyler. Caroline has also been stating her distate for Damon all of Season 3 so what "long time" are you referencing? Also she hasn't been in a relationship for that long with Damon by this point for Stefan to be fixing it, actually at this point he doesn't want them together. Since the scene being talked about is early Season 4, anything later than that is not relevant to the scene in question.

Remember that moment when Caroline showed disgust at the idea of being intimate with Stefan, right in front of him, while she & Katherine were freeing him from his PTSD? At that point, even if Stefan might have sensed something, it would be hard for him to truly believe it since Caroline also saw him as just a friend. Plus, Stefan had been through some messy relationships which left him feeling unworthy of love(literally makes sense why would he take time to admit his feelings). Steroline had a different dynamics and they openly discussed their feelings & their obliviousness by the end of season 6. And instead of putting down Caroline, why not just appreciate Elena for supporting Steroline? And if you look at things from a broader, more objective perspective, it might be easier to understand the progression of their relationship or their characters like it's not that hard just be cognitive flexible.

Even in Season 5 when they shared that sweet cuddle scene, it was obvious Stefan looked at Caroline differently. The only reason they didn’t get together sooner is because Damon died. If Damon hadn’t died, Stefan wouldn’t have spiraled and would have realized he loved Caroline sooner. Caroline always saw Stefan as a romantic option, from the first time she saw him, but he was too in love with Elena to notice her. In season 6, she was so hurt because, even if she did love him, he was still one of her closest friends and he completely shut her out for months. Yes, he was dealing with his grief, but she could have helped him and wanted to, but he didn’t give her that chance. Once they both got over that hurdle, they were finally about to start something, but then Liz died and Caroline spiraled, while Stefan was confused about his feelings for Caroline before coming to the conclusion that he did love her and had for a while, he just didn’t realize it till he saw her singing at Liz’s funeral. They spent even longer avoiding each other after their disastrous fling with their humanities off so Caroline can properly heal and deal with her grief, but they finally got together in season 7 because they loved each other. Even after 3 years apart, Stefan immediately went back to Caroline when he could because he loved her, and Valerie knew this, that Stefan would always choose Caroline over anyone else. Even him dying doesn’t disprove that, because he sacrificed himself for his brother, something anyone would do, so don’t start saying Stefan chose Damon over Caroline since he’s always chose Damon over anyone if it’s life or death
