Technically, they were walking in circles for at least 2 days......whereas Bodger was required to hand over the helmet one day later......that means, Bodgers reputation is already fckd!
That's why we have a house rule about re-rolling 1s for damage, because you could feasibly roll a natural 20, roll a 1 on your attack multiplier and a 1 for damage. You're hacking and slashing, not giving out haircuts like ol' Bob! Still funny as f!
@@deehuwig5167 You could always use the Brutal Critical rule: Maximum + the dice roll. Although my players aren't a fan of it since they usually don't crit as many times as I do.
Had to google this, because I'm not familiar with the concept. So, in the brutal critical system, if I roll 2d8 for damage, and get max damage, do I add that to the maximum for the roll of both d8 (16) for a total of 36 points of damage? Because with our system, a crit adds a d4 times your damage. With max damage, plus my mods (+14 per hit), for a total of 44 points, times the crit multiplier at x4, I could conceivable do 176 points of damage, which is way more than the brutal critical sounds like it could do. Even rolling the absolute smallest damage possible (since we reroll 1s), at minimum(2+14+2+14x2), I could do 64 points of damage.
@@deehuwig5167 It's not the same as the Barbarian Brutal Critical class ability. With Brutal Critical damage you take the maximum damage and then add whatever you rolled with the normal damage dice. To use your 2d8 example, you would take 16 plus the dice (minimum of 2, maximum of 16) for anywhere from 18 to 32 damage and then add the ability modifier once. What ruleset are you using? With D&D 5e you'd have to have a 30 in your main ability (for a +10) and a +4 weapon/item bonus(es) to get a +14 damage modifier. If I added a d4 multiplier to my NPCs' damage, I would have outright killed (no death saves) the characters on a crit. 176 points of damage is a deadly amount even for 16th level D&D characters.
We play 2E AD&D, which has all sorts of modifiers: race, class, ability, weapon specialties, mastery, etc, so if you build your tank the right way, you can do some serious damage. The 176 only comes in if you crit, roll max damage, and get max on your d4 multiplier, which is not often. 😂 Mostly it's lower level damage, because the dice mojo has betrayed me. However, with 5E, though the damage may be decreased somewhat depending on which system you use, it sounds like tabulating damage is MUCH easier. Has to make combat run a little more smoothly, too! I just thought most players, no matter the system, had a generous DM ruling about re-rolling 1s, if not in all situations then for crits, because there's no way you critically hit something and do only ONE point of damage. Nonsense. Shenanigans. Malarkey. No gentle haircuts, only murder! 😂
My DM didn't even need a giant wolf. He started a 8 hr D&D session with combat and a orc throw his x4 great axe at me. He rolled back to back 20's. He didn't even have to roll. Not sure what I did, but ya, don't piss off the DM.
Dude... Not sure what motivated that decision, but hopefully you two made amends! One of our players, while we were in Dream, got super sassy with the DM (because he was a fighter and there was nothing for him to do at that point) and basically decided not to participate, so he was all “you know what, if this is a dream, I throw myself off a cliff, to wake my real self up.” She let him do it, and had the fall kill his character in real life. He spent the rest of that part of the campaign dead and PISSED. Mess with the bull, you get the horns.
@@deehuwig5167 We are good and I don't think there was any malice involved. It just shows a DM can and will kill you early game, even if unintended. Throwing a melee weapon at that distance, with those negative numbers was never meant to hit and only did so because of the nat 20. The DM was being theatrical and meant to miss, but rolled 2 20s. LOL, opps.
Rob the wolf voice is epic. And the act, how they tried to fool around and the wolf attacked them. I hope you can make 2 videos a week because it is starting to be addictive.
Maisie Summers Vanessa explained Wither influence on the wolves pack in the previous episodes and brought them there specifically to avoid harming the normal wolves. Vanessa proposal was to try to convince him with diplomacy if possible, or killing just him if diplomacy fails, so the wolves will disperse.
@Charlie Vetsworth what are you talking about? They have Vanessa that will take the small one out of the way, but even if not, Bodger can kill Wither solo.

They really give Rowan bigger mug this time haha Speaking about bob i just remember Greg once mentioned him (Bartholomew the brave) in 'vital cutscenes' skit. I really love this series world building!
Why is the teaser so good? I mean come on, you can’t just stop there! Anyway great job guys this is actually really engaging. I haven't played D&D in years and you guys are so fun to watch.
The best part of this video was the first scene for the trailer coming up in the next episode. I ILLUMINATE ON TOP OF THE HILL LIKE THE GOD I AM!!! I am dying

I absolutely love the dnd videos. I've already watched all the other ones. I hope this series continues for many more campaigns afterwards. Its awesome watching the world grow!
I was under the impression this was going to be only 8 episodes like the other series. Then yesterday’s recap made me think this was definitely the last episode. I am very pleasantly surprised there is more to come!
Michael Younger I don’t know where I got that. I vaguely remember a statement like “There’s definitely going to be only 8 episodes” and must have missed the irony at the time.
This series is meant to go on indefinitely. I imagine to about 100 Episodes until we are level 20 and have finished the main story. Then we will just start a new campaign :)
Not normally my thing but really enjoying this content guys. Props to the DM who is doing a great job in the story telling, voice acting and maintaining the pace.
Never played or watched D&D before but since watching you guys play I really got into it and started watching tons of tutorial videos! Keep going guys! Keep inspiring us!
Rewatching again again, Rob has always had the most patience ever as a dm but seriously in these first dozen or so episodes it is simply ASTOUNDING! Love all y’all!
Another fantastic episode. Honestly this channel is keeping me going. I look forward to getting the notification that the new ep is out. Rob you’re an amazing DM; your voices and storytelling is top. Can’t wait for next week!
Really didn't know what I was going to delve into when I first watched but there's really a supergreat energy, the DM keeping all the chaos into something, the general good mood, Rowan roleplaying very dense thinking, Ben's moments, the skimming competition ... I'm also glad you guys have good subtitles, I'm not a native English speaker and I'm afraid of misunderstanding a few things sometimes, especially when everyone is talking at the same time, and without them I'd miss some epic lines :D
I am addicted to this. It reminds me of my D & D campaigns with my friends from High School. You can see these guys are real friends with the way they try to screw with each other.
I would've tried to convince them that the frogs can be a good meal. We can form an attack on them and take back our land and you'll have enough meal to feed your pack.
When you end the campaing I'm gonna have a grrrrrrreat time rewatching all the videos in one seat, with a shitton of junk food... and a diet coke. Thank you so much guys. Greetings from Spain.
Bob ... you are the DM of the ages! Thank you and your mates for giving me so many laughs, gasps, and "ya, I'd have done that as well', moments. Thanks
This is a great show, you guys have a fun and interesting take on D&D, and the production value is impressive! I don't mind the shorter episodes, if that's what works for your upload schedule, but I will say that I'm not a fan of the "Next Time On NPC D&D" preview thing at the end. A huge part of the fun, for me at least, about watching a D&D game versus a normal show is the spontaneity of the game. I don't want to go into an episode having already seen pieces of what's going to happen, it takes me off the edge of my seat and kind of makes it feel like just another episodic scripted show, even if I know that's not the case. Regardless, I love what you guys are doing, and I look forward to seeing where things go!

21:30 - Hey wolves...Fish and Garlic... Nom, nom... Come and get it!
5:30 - The Android: Don't worry about it. Everybody blames me. Even though I have a brain the size of a planet and can't possibly make any mistakes ever. Oh, I'm so depressed!
I absolutely love the dnd videos. I've already watched all the other ones. I hope this series continues for many more campaigns afterwards. Its awesome watching the world grow!
This series are so entertaining. You have a fan in Italy. Hope you'll keep doing your good work!
non sei la sola
Ma buon salve
@@inserisciunnome @Simon and Simon toh salve a entrambi. Gli italiani sono come il prezzemolo a quanto pare :D
The Wither voice and sounds were awesome! Rob, you're a natural (20).
Aww shucks. Thanks!
Thats not how i would have done it. I would ask the alpha wolf one simple question that would change the entire encounter:
"Do you like frog legs?"
Other than anime and manga, this is one of the things I wait for in a week. Definitely love your D&D series.
“Discusses With Wolves” would have been a really funny title playing on “Dances With Wolves”.
Damn it. Too late to change it? I could suggest it and claim it was my idea...
@@RobertHartleyGM It was def. your idea..
Would "Waltzes with Wolves" be a copyright violation?
Robert Hartley It totally was all you. Haha. I probably stole the idea from you. *subtle frog wink with both eyes*
Damn it Discussions with Wolves was MEANT to be a play on “Dances With Wolves” ... glad you kinda got it.... :/
YOU CAN'T KILL US STRAIGHT AWAY!!!
*chuckles*
I can...
Not normally my thing but really enjoying this content guys. Props to the DM who is doing a great job in the story telling, voice acting and maintaining the pace.
Thanks! That means a lot.
Never played or watched D&D before but since watching you guys play I really got into it and started watching tons of tutorial videos! Keep going guys! Keep inspiring us!
Will the guys manage to advance the plot in a meaningful way this time? :P Stay tuned!
I'm guessing... no. =)
If you’ve ever played dnd then you would know that plots don’t advance very quickly
It's mostly goofing around and an itsy bitsy teeny weeny amount of actual plot.
its nice to see how everyone's dice rolls did not improve at all
Got worse, I think
I absolutely love bob. Glad u were able to find the budget for some elf ears! Makes me love him even more 💜💜
The wolf noises and voices really got me so good, they're so well done!
Thanks!
What a fun ep! my fave part is definitely the DBZ part 😂😂😂
I couldn’t sto laughing when bob gently cuts the wolf’s hair 😂😂😂
Woukd love to see the old lighting with the nice yellow light come back!
This may be the funniest dnd playthru I have watched. Love the little skits between play
Love your DnD sessions! It's always: nice day for fishing!
I'm glad Bob finally has elf ears
That’s where all the trouble began....
10:33
That smile. That damn smile.
Now that's a good DM. But we spent hours setting up everything you can't kill us now. Ummm yes I can
Thanks.
Rewatching again again, Rob has always had the most patience ever as a dm but seriously in these first dozen or so episodes it is simply ASTOUNDING! Love all y’all!
Just an unbelievable amount of creation at this table
Poor Rob sometimes feels like my teachers dealing with my ADHD
Another fantastic episode. Honestly this channel is keeping me going. I look forward to getting the notification that the new ep is out. Rob you’re an amazing DM; your voices and storytelling is top. Can’t wait for next week!
Thanks.
Rob is an absolutely brilliant DM! What a great fit for VLDL
Thank you!
Love all the holes in the fourth wall in this ep.
And the rabbit. The rabbit is the star.
Bob finally has elf ears! Authenticity! Love it guys!!!
Really didn't know what I was going to delve into when I first watched but there's really a supergreat energy, the DM keeping all the chaos
into something, the general good mood, Rowan roleplaying very dense thinking, Ben's moments, the skimming competition ...
Rob's voice work is so impressive! I'm so glad I finally found this channel.
This episode was over so quickly. Give us more!
We need more
I would've tried to convince them that the frogs can be a good meal.
Iñaki Araluze The Diet Coke helps balance it, right?!? 😂
Diet sodas are WAY worse for you than regular ones
@@kristinaschneider4053 obviously! 🤣🤣🤣
@@Johnny-da-Cl0wn Thanks in advance pal, just joking... I only drink whiskey. 🤣🤣🤣
@@inakiaraluze4528 niiiice. Buffalo Trace is my favorite.
Super Saiyan Bodger, such an epic sight xD
LOL Bob rolling 1 for damage AGAIN had me literally laughing out loud.
Watching these games/stories had made me reinstall D&D Neverwinter!! Thanks, much love for the series and you guys you all crack me up😂
Love seeing how much fun you guys are having! Hated that this one ended. Damn you Thursdays!!!!
First time I noticed Bob's elf ears! Great job guys!
How are you so great at this Rob? Your DM and voice acting abilities are outstanding.
Thanks! And easy, I just make up for it by being crap at other things!
I refuse to believe it. Pretty sure you are amazing at a lot of things.
Bob ... you are the DM of the ages! Thank you and your mates for giving me so many laughs, gasps, and "ya, I'd have done that as well', moments. Thanks
Honestly this has become the highlight of my week. Please never stop!
WE NEED MORE EPISODES! I LOVE THIS SERIES!
12:41 - Bob doesn't have danger sense; he has common sense.
Or just intelligence of higher than (I think I remember) -1...
It's unbelievable how much joy and hapinnes you give people! Viva La Dirt you are ... AWESOME!!!
Regardless, I love what you guys are doing, and I look forward to seeing where things go!
haha well done voiceacting the wolves from Rob the GM! a fun episode!
Thanks!
This is just getting better and better!
