The lineup of Jerry, Arthur, Loren and Jeff was one of their best ever. I have never heard what Billy Hodges has been doing since he left the group. It would be nice if he came back.

I agree that was one of my favorites also as I think Jerry was probably the best tenor of the recent ones. I’ve not heard what he is up to as it’s hard to find info out about them after they leave. It’s even hard to keep track of groups as not many have a big social media presence

From what I heard, they got Joshua Horrell, former Anchormen and Kingsmen.

@@fagnersousa5906 Yea Joshua Horrell since i posted this is the new tenor singer. I plan on doing another video in a week or so with some recent news. I wasn't familiar with Jos before this, but from what I've seen he sounds really great.

I’ve been in there shoes many times they just don’t need to get in a hurry to put someone in there that really don’t know what there getting into singing flat and not in a pocket with song out of there range sometimes it’s just best to stop and slowdown to find that personal to be the best fit so when that sound is there well it’s best to stay on top trust me God will provide if you let him put that person and pray for them and when he’s in it then there’s harmony I know we took 2 years of looking and it was right under our nose all along trust God in all his glory give it to him and praise being obedient to the calling of his word the old saying where one door shut another one opens the old gold city sound is back with Jeff there that door has open back up for them and the inspirations and it will for kingdom hires

Interesting that you can relate to that and the timing of it being so quickly after the season started makes it tricky. I’ve heard Joshua Horrell has been filling it at tenor and from what I heard was with the kingsman. I definitely want to hear gold city when they come to my area with Jeff.

While I agree 100% with the statements made about Jeff being hard to replace, I remember when Eric Bennett left everybody said they would close up shop in no time. It’s a dream “gig” for singers, they’ll be back sooner than later.

I definitely hope they are able to replace them with similar talented guys and the perks should help. I just don't know in 2023 how long the list is. The one name I thought of was Christian Davis who use to be with Dailey & Vincent. He was also actually at Dollywood back in the fall when D&V was there. I guess I'm just partial to Jeff as he would always say "go dawgs" when he saw my hat.

in a conversation i had with jeff one time, he told me that he’d never leave the kingdom heirs unless he was dragged, kicking and screaming. he liked that he was settled and at home with his family and he didn’t want to lose that stability.
but i’m gonna be honest, i think arthur leaving really hurt them. but as a singer, i could hear that he was starting to have a bit of a struggle with notes he used to easily hit 5 years ago. so it made since that he’s want to leave before his voice started to really deteriorate.
however, despite the seeming outpouring of support online, i wonder if that actually translates to filled seats in the theater at dollywood. and if their tenure may be on shaky ground, then it might be jeff took an opportunity while it was still there over potentially being let go by dollywood. because jeff told me before that he’d never leave, and i’m sure at the time that he meant it. but that was before the loss of arthur. so i do find it… interesting.

something crazy happened with this comment so check out the other one

    • @bubbascruise
      @bubbascruise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yea as I mentioned briefly, they never really replaced Arthur. Even though it hurt to see him gone, you could see why him leaving made sense after 20+ years.
Well all we know for sure is that they will be at Dollywood this year. The last few times I saw them it was a good crowd. But they clearly cater toward the older demographic which makes its tricky from the cooperate side. I could see Dolly wanting to keep them around even if its smaller crowds the it use to be.
Once Arthur left, we always said "well at least Jeff is still there". His decision definitely leads to a lot of questions on the surface. The life on the road would have to be the biggest negative as that's a young man's game. I'm just not sure how they can replace him and still sound at this level.
One thing I thought about was maybe Kris is retiring the group at the end of the year. Thanks for the detailed comment.

It seemed to be a dream for Jeff to sing with Gold City. Tim Riley has been a hero and mentor to Jeff.
The Kingdom Heirs went through something similar in 2000-01 when David Sutton (Tenor), Eric Bennett (Bass) and the late Jeff Stice (Piano) all left to start Integrity (now Triumphant) Quartet. That’s when they hired Jeff, Jodi Hosterman to sing Tenor and Adam Harman to play Piano.
The Kingdom Heirs are a desirable destination for a lot of singers and positions just don’t come open in their group often. Loren Harris, as great a talent as he is, wasn’t hired initially to replace the late Steve French. It wasn’t until Brian Alvey, who replaced Steve, left that Loren got the Baritone position.
I’ve got a feeling Kreis French, who owns the group, is on top of this and they will have 2 new dynamite singers.

Has it crossed your mind that KH is a business that has a contract with Dollywood? This would not make the business a contractor of DW and so the group members are KH employees not DW employees. As such would not make them eligible for DW benefits. Just some food for thought from someone that knows how this industry works.

      The KH does offer benefits.
Jacob is doing what he wanted to do.
Working a job in church ministry with special needs children and singing on the praise team.
Jeff is fulfilling his dream of being with Gold City. His mentor was Tim Riley.
God is not limited to Jeff, Arthur. Jacob.

Lots of speculation here my brother.
Dollywood released a statement standing with the KH.
They are holding auditions and had Joshua Horrell on tenor this past weekend. The audience loved him.
He was formerly with the Kingsmen.

Kingdom Heirs aren't going anywhere. Brad, Chris, Josh, Johnny, Andy, Dennis and Kreis isn't going anywhere! Chris is as good if not better than Arthur. Josh has a awesome tenor voice, Andy carrys the baritone part great, Brad is every bit as good as Jeff was and Johnny not only is a great guitarist but a fantastic singer. Come on man, the new group of Kingdom Heirs is as good if not better than their predecessors. They have an awesome sound and the chemistry between the guys is just as good.
