Hi Ian, a great session and a mixture of species. Travelling down to fish around Dunston and Minehead in a couple of weeks. Do the pulley fennel set up work around there or do you suggest another rig set up. Is it the same species around there to target? Cheers mate and tight lines, Charlie
crabstick333 hi Charlie I think around minehead you could be casting onto rough ground at high tide and maybe sand at low water but I’m not totally sure. The pulley rig would be perfect in any case. Target species cod with bass and skate a possibility! Good luck tight lines Ian
Great vids, have just moved to the Wiltshire area and have been looking at marks to fish. Really like the look of Brean as it is a sandy beach where as a lot of the marks further up are really muddy/rocky. Where about do you access the beach from? Easy Parking?
Andy Young hi Andy it’s easy fishing. Park on church road In brean opposite the village hall on the grass verge. There is a walk through just to the right of the hall 100 yards to the beach. You can park on the beach until 7pm when they lock the flood gates. Dig bait on the beach fish large baits pick reasonable weather and fish last 3 hours of the flood. Cheers Ian
New to the area and fished this beach just a few hundred yards up from you with big lug and squid baits on the Sunday into darkness ... not a sausage !
MARK DITCHFIELD oh sorry to hear that Mark!!☹️video was from Saturday...just keep persevering and the rewards will come I’m sure!!! Big bait definitely the way to go!!!! Cheers Ian
Another excellent session Ian, love watching your videos. I mostly fish the Welsh side of the Channel as that's where I'm from. Would be nice if some decent Whiting turned up this year. Gareth
Its something I would really like to get back into my father used to take me a lot down swansea when I was a kid but I'm 32 now and been carp fishing most of them I am just curious because I only know the basics of sea fishing but think its gotta be exciting not knowing what you going to catch
Michael Lewis exactly!!! The feeling of catching a good totally wild fish can’t be beaten! I’ve coarse fished, carped and trouted but a big bass or cod beats the others every time!!! Good luck if you decide to go down the sea route!! Tight lines Ian
Michael Lewis well you have to realise that generally you are using heavy gear to cope with strong tides and casting 6ounce weights 100 yards. Having said that this year we have caught big bass and smoothound which have taken line from our multipliers and given a good scrap. Generally though it’s not about the fight so much as the pleasure from outwitting a wild fish!
keith gribble ha ha Keith I use my old gear for Brean ... old 7000 and slosh and two old rods. The reels are taped to the rods and as you have seen they don’t match up with the eyes! You could have spurred me into redoing them.....maybe 😉 cheers Ian
Skate - a lovely fish/ Our Sussex beaches are COVERED in skate egg cases so there must be loads out there. So why are so few caught by anglers? I would love to know!!!
Kerry Foster mmm not sure Kerry 🤔 well we fish worm baits for cod and bass mainly but the skate love them here it’s bizarre!!!! Sometimes there must be loads out there and they can be a nuisance!! Cheers for watching ian

James Calley hi James on the sandy beaches of Brean I use a ABU 7000 and a Diawa Slosh as they are indestructible!!!! The need to cast far is not great. I use the Penn mag 525 for Chesil when distance is needed! Cheers Ian
T.L OeuCheng hi TL! Cheers for watching! The rod is 12 feet long medium action made by anyfishanywhere. Any similar rod will do as distance casting is not needed as the sea comes in very quickly!!! Cheers Ian
Michael Lewis hi Michael we have had a few codling but no great size unfortunately. We do get a spring run in March or April so am hoping they turn up this year! Cheers Ian
@@ianclarkfishing just wondering that is all mate I used to do a lot of sea fishing with my father when I was a kid in swansea but as I got older started following the carp lol its definitely something I'm considering getting back into tho seems a bit more exciting as you dont know what you going to pull out any tips for a starter has I ain't done it since about 10 years of age I'm now 32 lol
Derek Jefferson cheers Derek you can park on the beach but there is a charge for most of the year and they close the flood gates every evening at 7 so you can’t get in or out.
