Evangelicalism. I can’t relate the level of horror I felt when reading through numerous comments on a vid recently, of evangelicals defending slavery as the Bible decrees that it’s just fine because “you’re not owning them, you’re just owning their time and labor” and “as long as you treat them well there’s nothing wrong with it.”
I'm willing to bet that it was a church-affiliated adoption service. There are hundreds or more of faith-based adoption agencies across the nation, and most states have seriously underfunded the departments charged with keeping tabs on these adoptions. It could take a state years to discover problems like this. So, adopting is as easy as sleeping through a church service once a week for a few months to a kid assigned to your home. We do everything wrong here.
I would go on to say that having family that has gone through the adoption services related to that, many of these faith based organizations encourage slightly less egregious versions of this, where they are encouraged to teach them to work and be more house servants than children.
Faith-based organizations are making legislative inroads into professional fields too. Some jurisdictions want to allow clerics to do the work of trained professionals like guidance counselors, therapists, and teachers.
My God, this was already hard to stomach but hearing they were put in the barn like animals made me burst into tears. They wanted to mimic Chattel Slavery again. This is soul breaking.
My blood is boiling. If found guilty show no mercy. Life in prison (general population)? No possibility of parole? Seize all their assets and place the money and property in trust for these children? Investigate the agency that approved and was responsible for the adoption with potential criminal charges.
So much (R) at helm of that state, along with a pretend (D) who switched to (I). It's surprising the couple didn't move to Virginia to vote. With a name like Youngkin, how could they resist?
It’s much more common than you think. I grew up in the foster system, and almost ever set of foster parents I had made me work. Up to twelve hours. Not just outside, but cooking their meals and doing their laundry, cleaning, etc as well. Since I was about five years old (that’s the earliest I can remember).
In 2014 pediatrician Barbara Knox and several co-authors studied 28 child abuse cases that exceeded physical abuse and into child torture. They found that 47% of those children were homeschooled, 29% were never enrolled in school.
Exactly. The sad part is we have so many resources to fix problems. But they go unaddressed and fester and that is the downfall from within. The people aren't heard. Only the rich and the corporations. The ones who hoard the power. Maybe we should have our own French revolution
There should be no bond for people buying child slaves to keep locked in their shed and forced to work. That's insane that they can get out of jail on a bond even if it is half a million dollars.

Exactly what I thought, this is the logical endpoint of the "we own our kids and have the right to do with them as we please" crowd, these kids where homeschooled (to isolate them) I bet that's probably how the abuse started before the couple decided to try teach "work ethic" or something horrific in that vein. This would not have happened if the state actually gave proper protections to kids (especially from there parents and not some drag queen boogeyman).

They want slavery, and they always have. They just couldn't talk about it openly until recently.
Homeschoolers do not face nearly enough scrutiny. There are some homeschoolers who are just trying to give their kids a better education than the public schools can provide, but far too many of them do it so they can get away with abuse.
How many stories do we here about teachers molesting students every year? Sure most mean well but far to many just become teachers so they can molest children.
@@grim524 Public schools are only indoctrination when Republicans get their way. Liberals want evidence based education, while Republicans want literal religious doctrine. And it is telling that you jumped to indoctrination, the reason I say homeschoolers need to be scrutinized is abuse, and you chimed in with your opinion that they are doing indoctrination too, which is also a problem, just not as dangerous of one because when homeschooled kids become adults, they can learn the truth their parents hid from them and get by just fine.
These people got off on this, I have absolutely no doubt of that. @@glitter4592 okay, but this problem would exist whether or not abortion was legal. All the kids mentioned were born before roe was overturned, meaning when abortion was available in all 50 states until at least the 20th week (considered viability age in some states). Plus, kids and up in foster care sometimes because their parents die, even though their parents may have loved them dearly before. Then these situations can still end up happening to them. So abortion really has nothing to do with preventing these kinds of atrocities. Plus, the mentality “just kill them now to end possible suffering in the future” is just a mercy killing mentality, which I personally disagree with. I do agree that every child should be loved and taken care of though, which is why I think there should be regular check ins with the kids in foster homes as well as free therapy sessions for them to make sure they are enjoying their new residency and adjusting well to it.
You can’t tell me the church didn’t know, I believe they were the culprits in the beginning, and these two were willing participants of evil, send the children back where they came from in the beginning, they got these children from somewhere, you’re telling me five different black families gave their children up for adoption, and the state didn’t take them, I don’t believe that, they’re always willing to take a black child from their home, I don’t know why, they don’t like them. Probably for reasons just like this one, I never thought it was ok for you not to know where your child is if you give them up for a better life, what if the life isn’t better and you gave your child up because you love them, and the people who have your child don’t. That is just traumatizing a child for no reason, and you expect them to be healthy sane adults, given some of the deviant and sinister behavior of adults, every system in this country is rigged.

I signed the adoption papers that doomed my twin sister and almost myself to perpetual enslavement because I was gaslit by social workers about my whole family and many were not allowed to contact me. I live with my aunt now and she was never told anything, had no idea I was in the orphanage for a year which is forever when you're only 11-12 years old.
There was a case here in Ohio back in 2003 in a town called Clarkesfield. Michael and Sharon Granvelle adopted 11 black children and kept them locked in cages and then proceeded to abuse and torture them. It took social services three years to turn them in to the police. They each only served two year sentences for their crime.
It wasn't thought, it didn't only happen in America. Now slavery in America you could make a different arguement. The act of slavery has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with greed.
first: wrong. in autistique theory, you're right; it doesn't inherently and necessarily have anything to do with race. you clearly should read some actual human history, though second: op is obviously talking about slavery in the us, and as you note, you can't "technically" correct that
@cl8804 well you can because there were plenty of non black slaves in America. There are also slaves of all colors and creeds in the world today. Also OP doesn't mention any geographical qualifiers that was me. You all need to pick up a history book or two.
It's a really good argument against homeschooling- some parents "homeschool" kids, and either teach them very little, or just keep the kids at home to hide abuse.
@grmpEqweer At this point I'm honestly convinced that's the majority of cases of homeschooling. Talk to any homeschooled kid and they will say they weren't taught shit. Not to mention the countless abuse and murder cases centered around homeschooled kids. It's so fucking sad
My twin sister was homeschooled her last year of high school (only reason I wasn't was because the abuser didn't know physics or calculus) and she was worse abused than I was and underfed and it got worse after I graduated and wasn't even allowed to go to college until I got adult protective services involved.
@@grmpEqweerIt’s not though. Many parents neglect and abuse their kids that go to trad schools. Many kids can’t women read and do basic math in public schools. Homeschooling is an excellent option for many kids. This is an issue with adoption and fostering and psycho adoptive/foster parents. If your kids are adopted or fostered and homeschooled yes more checks. Homeschoolers are usually in community with one another and would never allow some crap like this to go on.
@@grmpEqweer can confirm, my father homeschooled me and my siblings for our entire lives as a way to completely isolate and control us. he was able to abuse us for years, with our only contact with the outside world being through the internet. we were barely educated beyond 7th grade, when my mom just "gave up" on teaching us, due to us becoming completely ambivalent to education, with no peers to compare ourselves to, and no outside pressure to learn. thanks to religious homeschool organizations pushing back against any form of homeschooling oversight or laws holding parents to any standards, it's perfectly legal for even sex offenders to homeschool their children and raise them however they see fit, with nobody ever even knowing the child exists!

It's not just church people that do this. My captor was a lesbian who hated bible thumpers.
Faith-based organizations are making legislative inroads into professional fields too. Some jurisdictions want to allow clerics to do the work of trained professionals like guidance counselors, therapists, and teachers.

All homeschoolers are abusers

Yes@@twocents7509
@@twocents7509You gotta be kidding me. Kinda YES! Why have children suffer for your own ego or self righteousness. Every child should be brought into the world wanted, loved, provided for and well taken care of. If you can’t do ALL of those things then you shouldn’t be having kids period. Stop bringing blessings into cursed situations. They deserve better. That doesn’t mean the children themselves shouldn’t be alive. It just means do better when planning for a kid. Stop having children you cannot take care of
@@glitter4592 okay, but this problem would exist whether or not abortion was legal.
Why does our society keep producing terrible people like this. These adoptees were looking for a warm home and loving mother and father, not to be treated like this. I hope this couple never sees the light of day. I hope that they rot in jail.

They each only served two year sentences for their crime.

It wasn't thought, it didn't only happen in America. Now slavery in America you could make a different arguement. The act of slavery has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with greed.

This is what happens when CPS doesnt check on "homeschooled" children.
It's a really good argument against homeschooling-
some parents "homeschool" kids, and either teach them very little, or just keep the kids at home to hide abuse.
