Wow! I been bustin’ my brain trying to hunt down a no-power problem. I didn’t know the shore power cord is supposed to be plugged into that on-board receptacle! Ugh!

Thank you so much for this video! AC stopped working in 90 degree weather while stopped for the night. All the bumpy roads caused something to shift and "pull the plug"! We never would have thought about checking that because we never would have thought something could pull it out, but it did! Thank you!!
Thank you for posting this little generator tip! I was able to get my 1987 Coachman Royal generator back online after an onboard fire.
The incorrect oil dipstick manufacturing defect caused me over a year of stopping issues with my whisper quiet 4 KW generator. To avoid the generator shutting down issue, have the oil level between 1/4 and 1/half full.

Thanks for this video! I never knew about the the little black circuit breaker in the motor itself and I was about to wreck the whole genny and now it's going. Thanks a lot!

Also in a lot of RV's if your below a quarter tank of gas the generator wont start...its designed that way so you don't run your RV outta gas over night if your using the generator
Onan 4000...most common cause of starts and runs as long as the start button is held? Voltage regulator then control board. 75 percent of the time it's the VR. I had such an issue with my 4K. My 4K is an earlier model that does not have the LED light on the start button and the circuit reset is just below the start switch.
Ist timer here. I drive my Motorhome class to my home and was cleaning it out. I turned on generator and air con would not turn on. It probably is not plugged. I need to check it. Hopefully that is it. Will the thermoset still be on if it is bot plugged when running generator?
Thanks for this direct and simple overview. My a/c wasn't turning on when runnning the generator and I noticed I had no lights on the microwave.
I found the inside breakers and reset them all.
I'll be checking outside to see about the outlet for the shore power plug. The dealership had it plugged ibto shore to do a "walkaround" and I bet tgey never plugged it back into the spot your video shows.
My generator in The middle of the night and I can’t get my extension back in to drive and get more gas cause I don’t know if that’s why it went off. None of the power works with the batteries on I have the engine running right now just to keep us warm it’s just my daughter and I and I don’t know if I need new batteries but I’m gonna try all these things
I have the same generator. What I'm running into is this, i just had it serviced. I cranked up the generator today and it ran for about 20 minutes then started to cut off almost as if it was a fuel issue. I'm thinking i might need to throw a bottle of stabilizer in the tank, but i could be wrong. Having been taken for a ride by mechanics in the past, I'm worried they did something that's going to have me back in the shop to make more money.

i had power initially but not enough to turn over the generator at that point i was getting the flashing light indecating that i need to service the generator and i had just changed the oil oil filter air filter and cleaned the dpark arrestor

Mine won't start with breaker switch (at generator) in the "On" position. If I move the breaker to "Off" it starts but of course there is no power to the RV....?
You should not make any adjustments to the altitude adjustment, unless you have actually changed altitude.
I recently bought a toy hauler with an onan gen. It runs fine but seems like a lot of very hot air blows out of the bottom of cabinet next to exhaust pipe. To the point I can smell wood burning smell. How does this cool itself and were should the air exit trailer?
My Onan (2003) 4kyfa26100k would start then quit. After a few attempts, it still cranks "but no" start/turnover. Can smell the gas when cranking. Also checked the pump with the fuel line draining into a jar. Fuel flow is good when cranking. Thoughts? Thank you for reading. Jeff Whiteboro, Texas

I have a problem with a 3 kw Onan diesel generator that I have not been able to figure out. When I hit the initial start switch it cycles until it is ready to start when it indicates "Gen Off" when I push the start button it starts right up but then indicates "Check oil level" which is not low. Don't know how to turn that off and don't understand why is reports that the oil level may be low and continue running. Any help would be appreciated.

I took my cover off my generator, an noticed my airfilter was hanging loose. I took the filter out an notice the bracket was broken. How do I replace it?
What if the generator is on giving the coach AC power but not charging the battery? But when I hook it up to shore power, it charges.
check the connection between battery and generator
In case the generator isn't running right, I have fixed several Onan carbs because I know where the problems hide....no need to buy a new one...they're just clogged in very important, small places that DIY's overlook. Reply and I'll fill you in.

not getting power to the fuel pump, fuel pump works when I hook up separate power to it.
Another common thing that's messed up- DO NOT OVERLOAD YOU'R GENERATOR BEFORE IT'S WARMED UP! my super smart navy brother almost toasted mine by turning everything on right after starting my genny

You shouldn't have to disconnect from a generator, unless your main plug has a plug in the storage box like his does. My 07 gulfstream doesn't have it, so if there's a 30amp plug that your generator powers, you won't be able to be on shore power and generator at the same time because you only have one 30amp cable right?

Alexander Fedorov what was the final problem. My 2012 majestic runs great but no power at the line plug in cabinet. I’ve checked fuses breakers
My Onan 3600 runs fine tv microwave on and toaster oven on all the same time. No problem. Turn only the AC on and gen. and AC stops after about a minute. Any suggestions ?
Gen worked fine until compressor on AC kicked on, killed gen. Original AC (1992) Replaced AC, with a newer one. Works great!
my onan 5500 marquis gold starts up but runs rough for about a minute then smooths out replaced fuel pump, spark plugs and air filter any answers

Check the automatic choke pulloff. Someone rebuilt my carburator before I bought it. They wound the spring that closes the choke, one turn too many times. The pull off had to work harder to get it open.

If fuel drops below 1/4 tank, no start.
The engine will start so you can drive to a gas station. But the generator will not.
I have a onan 3600 generator..will not run unless i hold the start button..either on the generator or in the cabin..hold it on runs..let go and generator shuts off..checked oil level...is fine..i changed the oil and put 1.6 quarts back in..head scratcher...can someone help please.

it's possible that your low oil shut off switch is faulty you can bypass it for testing, hope this helps
Boost Mobile same exact thing with my Oman 4K it will stay running only if I hold the starter switch but the actual starter does not disengage so it will fry the starter in no time did you ever get a fix on yours I am still trying to figure mine out been 1 month now

Mine has no power to start switch in the RV or at the generator. I've tried resetting the breaker at the generator, I've reset all of the breakers in the RV, I've checked all of the fuses in the RV even though none of them are labeled "generator". Ready light doesn't come on on either start switch, basically, NOTHING HAPPENS!

Same....going to ck the 5amp dc fuse on the start box on generator. Logically, that circut should control red signal light at inside switch position. My generator is hard to get to. Your thoughts?

Sounds like either a low battery, or bad battery connections.
