This is the first video of a three part series where I check out the local food scene in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam!!!
I met up with one of my local friends as he takes me to some amazing locations and spots for some iconic Vietnamese staples, local favorites, and just overall unique experiences. I continuously found myself being a hypocrite as I felt like the last thing I had tried was the best thing on my trip. I couldn't help but love each meal so much!!!

Cheap & delicious? Don’t forget it’s also toxic due excessive chemicals used in growing vegetables and animals. How about sanitation? As a Vietnamese, I know the Vietnamese people don’t care about sanitation. You’re putting your life on the line eating Vietnamese food.
Giap Vo man, I just feel like chemicals are being used all around the world. I mean just think of fast food. And the way I feel is sanitation is probably terrible most places in the world and we don’t know it. Think about how many people eat in restaurants in say the US and the things the chefs and workers are doing, behind closed doors!!! I mean reading Anthony Bourdain’s kitchen confidential really opened my eyes to the sanitation subject. Besides human bodies are strong and resilient and honestly, if I lost my life eating Vietnamese food...I’d die one happy man.
@@giapvo892 I definitely agree about sanitation. Especially the street foods. Some vendors don't use gloves or clean utensils.
Giap Vo lmao chemicals are in every food and nothing's wrong with not having the best sanitation as long as you don't get food poisoning

Hi Max. You nailed the Vietnamese food philosophy: Vietnamese cooking philosophy is applied in composing a meal in a way that provides a balance that is beneficial for the body.
Yin and yang: heat and cold. Sweet and Salty, Fresh and Fermented.
Vietnamese cuisine always has the harmonious combination between fragrant, taste, and color:
- Freshness of food, Presence of herbs and vegetables
- Variety and harmony of textures
- Presentation

@@Macoi24 Banh Mi makes foreigners be surprised by its unexpected things you will bite and if you have an dictionary, you will find out that banh mi can't translate into English
The prices are on point,the thing that the flan lady put in is not caramel but it's coffee that's the source of the bitterness and i haven't seen anyone who isn't in love once they tried the holy bánh mì

The way that he ate our traditional food really like Vietnamese people did . I love this so much. Some foreigner eat Vietnamese food with the wrong way so it reduces the taste of food or incorrect

Dont worry! Vietnamese dishes have balanced all nutrition according to the criteria of "Beauty, flavor, taste and frugal nutrition" so you don't need to worry about your weight if you eat too many Vietnamese dishes.
Banh beo is my favourite dish when I was a kid, this was my daily snack. Cream caramel is my favourite dessert too.

I've been eagerly awaiting this video! Just watching you sweat through your tshirt. So glad that I'm not the only one who struggles with the heat and humidity. Once again, I'm salivating.
The Travelling Ulcers definitely not. I’ve been uncomfortably sweaty in all my SE Asia videos 😅
I mistakenly thought wearing dark coloured tshirts might possibly hide the sweat marks. Big mistake! Not only did I heat up quicker, but showed the wet patches more prominently. There's only so much I can do in pst without reverting to using CGI. haha Looking forward to Part two!
hahahah, I found black and white work well. Also dry-fit shirts don't show your sweat so that's also nice as well!!! Thanks brother!

Anna Timpton ohhhh that’s such a good question! I was surprised how much when I ate banh khot it reminded me of something I would eat at home, that’s and banh chien did the same thing. Hmmm, really was I loved the most was the fermented shrimp paste I got to dip my dishes in. Oh and the Bánh Mì is just ridiculous...you read how good it is but until yo try it...wow.
@@Macoi24 Nice, I've never tried fermented shrimp, but I will try it someday. Banh mi is always my favorite food. It is very suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner. I can eat it whenever I want!
