I remember living in Austin, Texas in the late 60s and the very early 70s and all there was at Lake Travis was the lake, period! There was a swimming hole people called Hippy Hollow!
That's too bad to hear! I grew up in San Antonio and frequented Austin. Although things have changed, I still love the area and the fact that we have so much more to do in terms of entertainment, great food, etc. Have you moved away?
Thanks for the video. I live in Houston and would love to visit Lake Travis. Do you know which resort or hotel would be the most convenient to enjoy the lake?
Thank you for watching! If you're open to an airbnb, I'd explore those since hotels are somewhat limited in the area. Lakeway Resort and Spa is the main one in Lakeway, but I've heard mixed reviews from people who have stayed there. There is a newer Sonesta Hotel at the Hill Country Galleria, which is about 10-15 minutes from marinas. The Reserve at Lake Travis might be another good spot to explore for an airbnb and convenient water access.
There is a very large section of Lake Travis near Mansfield Dam. When the lake levels are high, many of the sailboats seem to congregate in this spot. That might be a good spot to check out...

Ahh yes! I can't say that I frequent it, but Hippie Hollow still seems to be going strong 😁
Moved there January 3, 1980 once so beautiful, Austin has been destroyed. Lake is so commercial, cost of living is sky high, it's no longer weird.
