    Anyone can glue plastic together. It takes great skill to bring the resulting lump of plastic to life. Your work is truly alive.

      This is so true. In my opinion, his work looks convincing enough to be an *actual* object (in this case a tank), not just a completed model kit. The attention to detail is truly epic level.

      KillerKane very true, it's the attention to detail that gets me. I have tried some of his techniques and it's not as easy as he makes it look.

    Wow, a true master at work ! You inspire me to reach that level.
    After a 20 year halt to plastic modeling I recently got several 1/72 scale armor kits, I can afford them, but I have to build them under a magnifier. 35th scale is too dang expensive except for basic kits. The detail these days on 1/72 is freaking amazing. Would like to see more of these at this scale. Thanks !

      Old Tamiya kits are really affordable. Sometimes cheaper than a 1:72 kit, and they still hold up.

    Strange that they would make such a detailed kit and then make the tracks so bad, good work fixing them.

    Your technique is flawless, as usual. After 27 years on tanks, I have to say that I have never seen an M1, M1A1, M1A2, or SEP with this type of color treatment. Sand with worn sand, some oil and grease, and of course dust and mud. Good job, but too colorful.

  • @Me-dh5go
    @Me-dh5go 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Excellent job, but one detail that is overlooked and common on all Abrams tanks, the exhaust grilles. The center grille is a very dark and oily burnt rust while the outer grilles are burnt rust in color. I've been around these tanks for years. To give you an idea of how hot it gets back there, when the Abrams was introduced to West Germany (at the time), a warning was given to stay far away from the rear of the tank or get a cracked windshield. Needless to say, there were more than a few that ignored these warning. A good search will yield pictures.

      The Bradleys had a similar kit for their turrets called the BUSK kit. I used 2 of the kits glass panels and brackets and mounted them to the front of my M88a1. It gave me some protection from small arms and explosions. 1 week after installing the kits. A Bradley that was my escort in front hit a anti tank mine. Long story short: as I was towing that Bradley back to the FOB. My adrenaline finally came down enough for me to not be so focused on my surroundings and the road to notice that in the middle pane of glass in front of my face was about a fist size chunk of Bradley track stuck in the glass. Exactly where my face was. If it wasn't for me making that modification and the glass being so amazing. I wouldn't be alive today. While the BUSK and TUSK kits added allot of weigh and altered the Turrets streamline appeal. The kits saved lives. Also the kits helped prevent BCs and TCs from being decapitated by low hanging electrical wires strewn around Iraqi villages and towns. Because the kits would snag the lines before they could hook under a guys chin.

    On the book i'm thinking to write, the M1 Abrams appear as the new M1A5 Abrams, armed with a 155 mm RD5 smoothbore cannon, a 13 mm Y5 coaxial mg, a 20 mm Oerlikon AA cannon and a R55 8.21 mm machinegun as secondary armament. It has a new engine, the XM255 Osterback electric engine, new electronics including thermal vision, night vision, a V55X precision sights with a 40x magnifier and a electronic shield pod installed under the tank. It uses extra compressed ink armor plating, allowing it to survive a direct hit from a 255 mm APFSDS shell at 400 meters, and it uses a small fusion reactor to power it. Due to the new modifications, it weighs now about 76 tonnes and, thanks to the new engine, it can reach about 75 km/h (in road) and 62 km/h (cross-country). It's used as the main battle tank of the Interdimensional Alliance

    Nice build. I wasn't sure about the green parts at first, but I think that ended up being a nice little bit to kinda tell a story. Sorry to say but I think you went too light with the highlights. Again though, nice build. Thanks for sharing. One tip. I just recently figured out this one, for the targeting system glass. There are color shifting nail paints that work perfect for that "rainbow effect". Also good for attack chopper targeting systems and laser designator pods on aircraft.

      Absolutely! Any GM or "Jim" would be a great place to start along with any of the Zeon Forces Zaku II's. All of the kits are snap together and as such don't require glue but if you'd like to have no seem lines on the armor pieces then it's almost required.
