I think the TPS logo is a "beachball", because it was founded (and I think it still is) a general purpose sporting club (they have teams that play other sports, too - soccer, floorball, basketball, volleyball, etc.), so the ball is a kind of "all-purpose ball/puck" their members use, it represents any "ball" (or a puck) that you use in a team sport. TPS stands for Turun Palloseura (Turku Ball Club). Palloseura/Ball Club (PS) after the genitive case of the city name is a common part of soccer club names in Finland, the same way FC (Football Club) is in England.
