I hope you will get to see the city after it's completion, but I fear that it will be well beyond our time! The "do not visit waterfall" advice was taken seriously then lol...Great video Karl. Happy New Year
Interesting stuff, Karl. The tidbits from your mate in the car were very informative, too. Re: the new road being built back into Kampot: I have always entered and exited from the main entrance where, what were the entry payment booths, are located. However, according to some local maps I have seen, there is what appears to be another road down the other side of the mountain already. Ashamed to say, I have never found it and not been brave enough to perservere looking for it. Does another road down the other side of the mountain actually exist currently?
If you're still in Kampot, give me a shout and maybe we could talk about the old days in Soi Sribumpen. You might remember me from a couple of years ago when I left comments about Nige and Wong.
I was last there about a month ago but plan to head back when I get the chance. Would love to chat with someone who remembers Soi Sri Bamphen from all those years ago. Do you live in Kampot? Cheers
I don't want to rain on the Cambodian people's parade but, Chinese ghost cities springs to mind. Interesting, I wish them well, they've endured a horrendous past in recent years.
Yes, Cambodia has had mixed results from Chinese investment in the past 10 years or so, actually we go into their involvement a little bit in the first part. Cheers
once I was too there, but everywhere a thick fog, so I did not see nothing, I was also sleeping there in some of theses hotels, but the rooms had been fucking cold and the food there you could foget, Greetings from Hue Vietnam
What the attraction is to living in that partially built area there I cannot see. Phnom Penh I understand is much improved from when I was there 20+ years ago. I would like to see how it's grown. But out in the boonies like that I don't think there is any way to make it an attractive location. The river bar did look cool.
All developing in forest destroy nature it must be canceled. Bokor mountain at Kompot province about all building designed to effect with Nature impact. Truly , you said Crazy build city plan . your saying is right. Bokor mountain at Kompot province happen nearly like the Kulen mountain at Angkor Wat boundary. But Kulen mountain destroy forest first and instead of orchard and than destroy orchard will build city. Than you .

Maybe at a wrong day
Yes, it’s often foggy up there….and cold! I had to go back up there another day to get the drone shots. Vietnam is also a beautiful country. Cheers
One more my idea. Design for interest tourist place. For tourist as nature there are visitors a lot not living a lot.

Kampot is a VERY chill place Mal. I have a Phnom Penh based vlog coming up next. Cheers

You’re absolutely right, it is a worrying trend. Cheers
