    This was fantastic! I love seeing all the differences. I think one of my favorites was the normal pink dip with a doubled up blue. Leaving white at one end, pink at the other and blue between. Its a fascinating color study on how two colors can truly create completely different colorways!

      Can you imagine if I had swatched each of these, too? Some of the differences are super duper subtle, but there are a lot of tiny variations you can do with dip dyeing for sure.

    Oh! It would be fun to see 3 colors! I so appreciate you making yarn dying accessible to newbes! I want to experiment doing this to get yarn that is fire-like!

    I think an experiment to see the reproducibility of two broken colors together would be really interesting. Maybe as like a part three of this project.

      Reproduability might be hard. Looking back at my Black Friday Thanksgiving yarn - I got a fair amount of variation in the colors without using colors that broke. But I'm super excited to try this out.

    This was fun to learn.
    The yarn is also very pretty :)

    I saw the video last night and was really excited to watch it today! This is such a great experiment, and it's really interesting how layering pink over the blue seems to just deepen the blue in some cases rather than turning purple in all of them! My favorites are the folded pink dipped full-length into blue (~37 min mark). I prefer the more symmetrical results, and I'm loving the combinations of colors that this set of techniques gave!
    A video of multiple dips into Wilton's violet (or any other color that breaks distinctly) would be fantastic.

      I think that the colors were less of a surprise to me this time after doing some of the triangle coloring mixing experiments. I wanted to pick non-red/blue combo... but since the yellow gets overwhelmed so easily I wanted two colors that could "stand up" to one another well.

    I would be interested in seeing you do this again only dyeing blue first then red. Since red dyes at a faster rate I wonder how they would compare.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't make *that* much of a difference with this specific technique, but that would be fun.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials

      Oh man, I do have some but I cannot link easily at the moment. I have a lot of dip dye a thons where I've tested breaking wilton's icing colors. Theyr'e older streams for sure, though.
      Basicially - if there is Red #3 in the icing color it will break. Pretty much all the time.
      Also check out my mystery combinations of breaking colors - those livestreams are awesome.

    You are amazing!!! As an avid hooker (the crochet kind), I’m always looking for variegated yarns that work for my projects. It would be wonderful if you made swatches that help us envision how these color changes would look on a scarf, shawl, or sweater - anything where rows are pretty long & color shifts are more obvious.

    • @ChemKnitsTutorials
      @ChemKnitsTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately I don't have the capacity to swatch most of the yarn I dye - I dye too many different colorways in small batches at the moment. I do try to swatch self striping yarn because I think it is helpful to see how many stitches you can get out of a color segment when it is that long. (Then you know if you want a 6 color striped yarn you need something way longer than what I used, etc.)
      If I am ever able to expand to be more than just me, I would love to be able to show more swatches. I really wish I could!!
