Channel in the work for many years now, just have to get consistent and make it my primary focus. Also wanted to share this: I shot a vlog from your meetup in Tampere, and wanted to share it with you. Hope you like it! (Last video on my TH-cam channel)
I've started my thing. I need to keep pushing keep producing. Not get down, because my stuff doesn't get viewed. It is super demoralizing when you spend a day making a video and it gets 10-70 views.
"Why You're NOT Starting things" => And you are watching this video instead of doing your things. It's fascinating to see how much videos there are on procrastinating and fear on TH-cam and how much people (like me) are looking for this kind of videos in hope to be answered to ALL the questions we have inside. (And actually NOT starting things but keep on watching these videos just to feel a little bit better because we are AT LEAST conscious)
@@GroundbreakGames I'm currently doing 2 projects fluently and just got this vid because it is interesting for me to even start on youTube :D - lucky me is not procrastinating :)))
This is sooooo comprehensive and helpful. Been panning to start a YT channel for a long time and never realized all these fears I had. Thanks so much, Matti! GREEEEEEEEAT content.
I started my channel last year when I was still a grad student in university, and by the time I graduated it had already become sustainable as a job rather than just a hobby. I think the key is simply to find something that you're passionate about and to put your entire heart into it (and obviously having an original concept or style is extremely beneficial as well). If people can tell that you're passionate and putting in a ton of effort, then the views and subscribers will follow naturally. I started without a camera or any video gear and I could only put out 1 video per month, but I spent 100+ hours on each video and people slowly started to take notice. You don't need expensive equipment or software to get started, you just need a solid idea and strong initiative!
Matti you could do a video about the business part. About sending invoices, sending clients a PDF with a job porposal, emailing clients, all the paper work and what you need to have your business going on. Thanks
Yes! I'm curious how taxes work with being a TH-camr. When setting up sponsorships or any other kind of influencer side-hustle income. It seems like nobody talks about the ugly part. The government is going to want their cut and I assume it's not easy.
Great idea for the survey Matti. This video ended up being really inspiring. I have to say, I've noticed a boost in confidence from you with regards to being on camera since your Travel Feels days. You're absolutely killing it on here. Keep up the great work!
I cringed so much when I first went on camera that I deleted everything I’d recorded more than once. I still hate it especially filming in public. And I rarely watch a video after I’ve uploaded it. But I got passed it and I’m starting to fell more comfortable in front of the camera. WARNING: You will receive a lot of criticism about everything! But as a TH-camr Stradman said once, ‘when you get haters you know you’re making it!
Peter and you are the main reasons I started with videography two years ago, and now I founded my own company and make money with my passion. Thanks for that guys and always give inspiration to people like me.
Lack of confidence. Straight up. I've had some bad experiences in the creative field and it absolutely crushed me as a creative professional. Regardless, I have to find a way out. I think TH-cam is a good way to do that. It's a good community and I can do what I love to do. It's an idea I've been toying with, but I have no idea where to start. Thanks for this Matti! It helps to know I'm not the only one out there struggling.
Watching this kind of content gives me so much anxiety because I want to start but don't because of all of the things you guys just went over. I am glad I stumbled on your video.
FEAR! INTERNAL FEARS. You can categorize it, name it, number it, and pretend there is none. But it is real, it exists, and we all have it. Now it's time to OVERCOME the fear. Easier said than done. But (OH) so DOABLE! You just need the right mindset. That's what I'm working on. Getting my mind where it needs to be to overcome the fear. Thanks for the inspiration, motivation, and info. I love watching your content. Thank you.
Yeah that was a big one for me too, “being in front of the camera”, as a matter of fact I have a video I’m posting today talking about that, what is “Story”, & my vlogging experience that I’ve had so far !
Telehue Food Thank you, I actually built the desk and shelves myself, also created the intro completely on my phone 8)) ! & wow I just checked out your channel and I have to say, your editing is superb 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I just started my own tree care business near Ottawa and its been going great. I want to make good quality video for people to learn more on different subject surrounding trees, but as it turns out, getting traction on TH-cam as been more challenging than any other media platform or marketing tools I've used. But after watching your video, I think there is a very fine line between being successful or not. It seems like the mindset as a lot to do with it. It's easy to be psychologically overwhelmed by all the TH-cam stats to measure one's success on this platform. Thank you for this level headed pep talk. That's another great video. Cheers from Ottawa!
I loved this, thank you! I tried starting a vlog like 4 years ago and realized how much work it was, and while I've only made a few videos since then, I haven't given up yet! That is HUGE for me!! I am determined to get caught up and keep going, and one day hopefully I will be really good at it and be putting out awesome content! So grateful for channels like this that just want to help people ❤️
I waited a year to start my channel because I was scared. I finally started in 2016, but I still struggled with fear, content ideas, & inconsistency. I'm just now seeing growth. almost to 100 subs :)
What a great topic! I'm 45 and just started my channel 4 months ago. I've already been through most of the stuff you talked about, but I'm pushing through it by trying to learn at least one new thing each week (mostly post production stuff). I'm having a blast. And I really appreciate creators like you and PM who really push people to just do it. Thanks!
I really liked the video. To hear you talk about the journey. Mostly, I see people AFTER they get success and never see the struggle. You talking about how you tackled those challenges was really great!! Keep making great content.
I'm so glad I found this video, and so glad you made it. I'm an author in training, who tried starting a channel last year. After posting a few badly done videos, I let my fear get the better of me and quit. Next month I'm re-launching my channel with a more focused approach. I'm really nervous about it, but your video has been like a personal pep-talk. Thanks so much, I'll be watching this again just before I post my next video :)
Can't believe you did this in 2019. How have I not seen it yet!! Thank you soooooo much. You guys put this across in such an inspiring way. I can relate to pretty much everything the community said. Like you say, don't delay starting your TH-cam channel, just START!!!!! Thanks again chaps. Love this channel.
I've started. Almost at 1000 subs and just hit the 4k hours of watch time. Getting in front of the camera was hard at first but now it's not so bad especially when you can edit.
Hey, man. I've been a runner on and off. I never thought I could do anything more than a 10k. But honestly, after just watching a couple of your videos makes me consider trying a half-marathon. SO, thanks. Subscribed!
@@GetGoodAtThat Oh hey just seeing this! If I can do it you can. Thanks got watching. If you subbed I just put out a run where I finished 100k. Cheers to you and happy running
Dang dude I really enjoyed this video! I'm like in the middle of that confidence graph. I remember when I first started my channel I was so confident that I could do anything useing windows movie maker. Lol now I'm making epic b-roll in AE. I'm not the best but I have more experience now then when I started.
I've really been loving your introspective, motivational-type videos and musings lately, Matti. A pleasant surprise in hearing more from Tyler on this one, and I think he really added a lot to the conversation, so thanks to you as well, Tyler! I participated in the survey, and yeah, you guys got me dead to rights in your analysis. I'm gonna make it happen. I *will*!
You and Peter got me started. I started this week with my mobile phone, bought an M50 and i edit my stuff on my mobile with free software and post it on instagram. Thank you for the motivation!
Are you a prophet Matti? I was tossing and turning in my bed before I fell asleep about how much gear I have to acquire before I go into TH-cam full time, I eventually fall asleep only to wake up to this. Thanks man
i bought all the gear 5 years ago and never really started anything, except a gaming channel using my phone. dont let anything hold you back man nor think that you need anything in specific to get started. all you need is already within reach(your phone)!Start now!
I put off starting a TH-cam channel for at least a year, but two weeks ago I finally pulled the trigger. I am motivated to make this work and have invested a huge amount of time, money and research into what makes a successful channel. The irony is I too felt like I didn't have anything to offer but when I told this to a friend, he laughed in my face and started repeating back to me my own resume. I realized I have a passion for helping fellow photographers and filmmakers. So now the REAL hard work begins. Shooting, editing and growing a channel from ZERO. But a year from now my plan is to be sharing a very different story. Matti, thanks for your passion and for starting this topic.
HOOK IT UP PLEASE.... I’ve started my channel but my next adventure is helping my son in acting. Being able to take even smoother video of him would be clutch. Thanks Matti for all that you do. Travel More! Worry Less!
I started my channel 2 weeks ago and it's been amazing! Everything you mentioned we're really true especially the fear part, oftentimes the only way to get past it is by getting through it. Thank Matti for being supportive and being a source of inspiration to us newbies! More power and keep up the great content! You are amazing!
I totally have this trouble with starting because I am a perfectionist and have ideas but just keep putting it off. Thank you for talking about this because I needed to hear this. It has been on my mind a lot. You are a super nice person and you aspire me to make beautiful things with my craft.
Been making videos on photography for two years and have only just started to gain subscribers. If you enjoy it, it doesn’t matter, enjoy the process and you’ll get there!
that's so impressive! That gives me a ton of encouragement, bc I do love it, and do it for myself, but sometimes it's discouraging to feel like I'm not motivating anyone, so tyyy
You’re videos are sooo meaningful Matti, love em! Unlike most other vloggers who barely have a meaning or a message in their vlogs. Just my preference to watch content like yours! Thank YOU!
Wow Matti, this video is so on. And so perfect for me. I see in terms that I have which are full of confidence but very little experience, and I also see people above 40 ya 45 years of age, who are so much experienced, that being 34 and half I feel lot of pressure and struggle is real man.
I have already started my channel. Before starting this channel, I had gone through most of the aspects mentioned by you. And still face some of it like...... lack of gear... feeling that there are many others who do better videos.....and also, consistency is a problem too. But never gonna quit filming, and maintaining my channel.... As you read this, please do support my channel.... I does all of my videos on my smartphone.... Wish i could win the gimbal so that my videos cold be more better.......
Your video do look like you really need a gimbal. 😂😂😂. You have the idea but it won't look great if it is not smooth... So please don't use shaky footages in your videos...it will make your video look amateur...
@@domash6432 thanks for the tip. I was just trying to learn the way of shots. Warp stabilizer helps a lot 🤣🤣🤣... Just don't want the lack of gear limit my creativity 😜...
I loved this video, Matti! 😄 I applaud the idea of making a survey for this troubling question. I've been subscribed to you for a while now but this is my first time commenting on one of your videos. I started filming on my old phone and I am amazed by the results of that. I see how cringy I am sometimes (as a female, I do have more insecurities about being on camera), and how my video quality is not that great (I'm glad my new phone films in 4k now). The perfect advice is really just to start. Just Do It! Nike's motto is so simple yet so hard to follow for many of us. I'd love to win the Gimbal because I'm purchasing a new camera that is not a mobile phone (lol). And I don't have the money for the Gimbal too. 💗
it's just so cringy to see your self on camera or hear your recorded voice, and being aware of that makes it even more awkward when you push through it :/
just gotta get used to it. if it bothers you maybe you're being self conscious which you need to correct. nothing is wrong with you. You're not ugly. Your voice isn't annoying its how you were born. Focus on content. Ignore the people who try to put you down
And... Also. Having a community of friends who loves to throw a comment to you mocking you and tell how wannabe are you :( ... It's nonsense but still hurt n fearful to overcome
I did. I actually watch my own videos post production now, just so i can see if i think it's entertaining. If it isn't then i try harder next time but i don't delete it. Just gotta power through my man, you have more subs then me so let that at least help you lol
That’s a very enlightening survey. I too really want to start a TH-cam channel. Namely to practice my filmmaking skills which is a must for me because it’s been several years since I graduated from film school. Why I didn’t immediately enter the film industry. Fear. I had quite a lot social anxiety back then but I’m dealing with it a little better now. I have some good ideas for my channel. I have the tools. It’s just all a matter of starting and overcoming fear, like what Matti said. Just do it. Just practice. Then you’ll get better! Thanks Matti for inspiring me more. I’m inching forward to make that first step!
I started TH-cam at the start of this year and it fizzled due to consistency and a lack of time. Between the day job, my family and our business that we own/operate. I really struggled to keep it consistent and that made me frustrated and feeling like I wouldn't be able to get traction. I haven't given up indefinitely though. I still plan to give it another go, and maybe another....and another. Thanks for such good content Matti (and team).
Thank you. I started evethough I know I'm not that good with everything about youtubing. I'm 52 Im a woman, my English is not that good and soo many reasons I could use not to start but here I am. I showed up because I strongly believe I have something to offer to the universe even though I'm not really sure what it is. 😂 Thank you again for this video. I wish you more success and happiness. 😀❤
No one tell you to abandon your current job bro. Your job should support it financially. Budget it right. At some points, your job can help your channel - for example, if you are a video producer so gain knowledge and experience.
Hey Matti I really appreciate this video. I had started my channel many years back and then I got busy with other things and stopped publishing. I recently picked it back up and making a commitment to growing it. Thanks for the words of encouragement!
Thank you Matti. This video was something I desperately needed to hear. Some friends and I have been filming a lot, but just haven’t been getting down to the nitty-gritty when it comes to editing and/or posting that content, which I can pretty much just blame fear of doing so. Hearing you say that you dealt with the same kind of things when you first got started on your journey is very enlightening, and motivating. So here’s to doing more, posting more, and drowning out that fear! 🍾🥂🍻
I used to have dreams on TH-cam I made hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of videos 7 years worth with no results and a depressing platform seems to want to get rid of every single one of us
Your content seems to lack direction. I just went through your channel. You don't have a niche. Your videos arc kind of everywhere. I think you need to get better at one particular content direction first. Just sharing my honest opinion with you man. Not interested in starting a YT Channel soon.
@@The_Harylaba my TH-cam channel did have Direction at one point I even went to doing weekly blogs I know it's too far apart one week is a long time between uploads I also had some review videos in between but usually were related to the channel channel has developed over the years he used to be slideshow videos then tutorials then gaming where my channel got most of its growth and I stuck with that for like 3 years a few blogs in between then I started doing music videos then my channel got hacked and I didn't have access for a year came back and uploaded a little music then switched over to Long blogs I tried a few experiments in between when that didn't work I had already started to go into the second season actually the first video did really well later on really well for my channel which is about 1500 views and a good like ratio and a lot of good comments but the other videos didn't get the same though I put more effort into them I started doing review videos and mixing them in between those starter to get more views but it felt like at random and some of of the poor quality content got a lot more views than the content I had worked weeks on some of them got really high like ratios but others not really bad ones usually the ones when I was being very honest got the worst like ratio but I stuck to being honest I'm building a studio now hopefully that will make my content sound and look a little better my biggest problem was TH-cam though they would just hit all the craters with something that would make everything difficult or I would get copyright claims on my music that I worked on I haven't checked recently liked in a year but I'm sure a lot of the content has these little false copyright claims I've ran into them so much oh and especially with a video that didn't have any audio getting copyright claimed by like four different people I felt like uploading that video to TH-cam lol
AlexLeeDrums lmao 😂 What I hadn’t realized at the time was he suffered a form of depression due to self medicating with pain pills. Dude has a half of a cabin built that he started , his tool shed is a bit over halfway clean, I walked in on him building a compound bow from pvc and other items he went and bought for this project and I never seen that completed because 3 days later he bought a mosquito helicopter 🚁 and started becoming a pilot which didn’t last too long Well the becoming a pilot part didn’t so now he flys the damn thing unlicensed all over the country areas of Alabama . He has a Nuclear fallout shelter in the side of a mountain that he bought that would ultimately be the death of a person because he quit stocking it after he built the club and livingroom in it. Pretty wild but I’m starting to think maybe he just likes having a ton of projects to turn to if at any point he gets bored with life. Who knows but I know nothing in my life changes by judging his.
I just happened upon this and I can certainly identify with many of those fears. I am in my late 40’s and I’m TIRED of living a fear-based life. I am trying new things and feeling a lot of “internal resistance” but still trying to push past it. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thanks partly to your advice, at age 63, a few months ago I started a new TH-cam channel, and it's already growing. I'm always working to improve the content ... Thanks for serving as a positive role model for much older people.
We bought pretty much everything for our business to starts making films, and in between jobs the gear sits there collecting dust. So we decided to start a vlog and so far so good 😊 Ooh and today I pick up a camera just for vlogging! So now I have no reason not to vlog
wow!! this thing! your movement for helping people is great. It's true! it's not all about you but about other people a true way of leadership :) wish you all the best
Great video! I'm glad I came across this. It definitely helps me feel better knowing that I'm not the only person who has some of these mental struggles when starting my journey to being a content creator. I'm turning 24 next month and I'm quitting my job this weekend to fully commit because I realize that I've been putting in way more effective work than I realize and I've learned enough to feel comfortable going full throttle officially.
Tbh none of these topics are relevant for the reasons why i wont start. If you look at an average persons life, 20-30% is sleep, 20-30% work (school maybe even more), 10-15% taking care of yourself and working out and 5-10% running errands. That´s 55% - 85% of your day just to get by. And making youtube videos take a lot of time, and you dont get much in return from the get go. Take me as an example, i would rather spend the last 15% of my day to get some work done that has a guarantee to benefit me. Lets say it was school, you could spend more time reading to get better grades. And lets not forget that i didn't include social life or to relax. TH-cam is a great place but you have to sacrifice everything to make it work, especially if you dont live at home and need income to survive. It strange this argument didn't get mentioned. The way i work around it is that i have a Media company that does film/photos and i have shoots weekly. This way im doing something i love and get income to survive. One day WHEN i go full-time i can see myself starting.
Muhamed Delic, So true and right. Also, don’t worry: 70% of the people here who say they start now, don’t start anyway. Then other 29% who start or have already started, will quit after a while. The rest, 1%, are the winners. :)
@@mikeh.4503 yea sure but my argument is not to bash anyone who "gave up". The reason most of them quit is because of 2 reasons, love for what they are doing and income to take care of yourself. That didn't get mentioned and that is my point
What you said is also true. TH-cam is not everyone’s cup of tea. And not everyone will be successful on this platform because of various reasons and the reasons you’ve mentioned. Sometimes I ask myself, I work a 9-5 full time job, another part time job, have a family and a new born and still try to make 1 video a week. It’s only because I love doing it and want to promote health and fitness and a positive message. But there are so many challenges, exactly the points you mentioned.
They are fun to watch. Actually, you could grab funny things from those episodes and create a video. Maybe have yourself reacting to them (your cam in the bottom left of the video).
This video was really helpful/encouraging. It's kind of fascinating that knowing others are feeling the same way as yourself or experiencing similar struggles makes you feel better.
You’ve gotta be a Prophet! I was arguing with myself about whether or not I had what it took and as soon as I opened my TH-cam app your video was the first! Exactly what I needed right now, thanks man!
Ooh yaah and its me Im gonna win the gimbal😂😂 If you read comments, you probably have seen my comments. Im the "send me gear Matti😭"guy😂 I Hope you can ship to Africa😂
My advice for starting a TH-cam channel: - Do it about something you love doing - Focus on a learning curve instead of stats or audience retention - Try stuff you don’t manage, just to learn and get the experience - Talk about your goals - Put time into your thumbnails - Don’t force anyone to subscribe. Bring value and they will come automatically. - Install TubeBuddy - Practise filming every day with Instagram story or Snapchat to get experience and learn to see new angles and techniques - Set a topic for the video. Don’t be all over the place - ONLY compare yourself with who you were yesterday - Make a bad first video on purpose just to get started and develope from there Good luck! 🙂
Matti! I love this episode. I'm a guy in his mid 30's and all of these topics struck me. I recently started a youtube channel to share the struggles and lifestyle it takes to be a dad of 3 kids while also training for a 100 mile ultra marathon. I thought others could relate... and they do. I find that my biggest challenge is one of my coworkers or family stumbling across my videos. So embarrassing!!! Even though I've released them to the public? Weird right? I work in a professional environment in Mechanical Engineering so the thought of someone seeing me act like a dope on the internet makes me uncomfortable. Anyways thanks for this... it reaffirmed we all feel the same way. Keep doing you!
I am halfway in finishing this video but I just can't hold my excitement to comment. This video just pass by my recommendations and the title hit me hard. This morning I was having this idea of creating my own TH-cam channel and I was searching up on TH-cam ways on how to get started but as I go through in watching those videos suddenly I got so discouraged because I felt that I don't have the right equipments and confidence to create and post contents on this platform. I am so afraid of what other people would say to me. I really wanted to share my knowledge but I am so afraid that some people would invalidate my videos because I am not an expert. But this video really ignited that fire inside me to not just try but to actually do what I want. I really am interested in making film but I am not a professional and all my skills are self-taught and I am willing to learn more. I was about to give up on this dream that I had but this really help me to pursue my passion. I don't know if anyone would read this comment but I just want to express my deepest gratitude!! I am 17 years old and my grammar might be incorrect but please do appreciate this because I am not that good in speaking english and I tried my best to construct this paragraph. Wish me luck or blessings rather
I feel exhausted from my full time work. I know it's all about priorities, but I work about 300 hours a month (include weekends some times).. I also cook for my self and go to the gym a lot.. There's literally not too much time left 😭
I think vlogging your everyday hussle (edited footage of your day and how you feel throughout the day) showing audience how you keep up managing and planning, is fascinating and motivating. Good luck!
I started my channel about 3 months ago and already have 16 videos. I think I’m following all steps that successful bloggers recommend but still have 39 subscribers :/
THANK YOU! (It is about my channel - the "youtube idol" I am doing complete on my own. The Dunning KRUGER EFFECT is the answer to my massive dip in confidence...the break I had to do and now I have figured a lot things out I needed to going forward and feel better and confident again. Thank you for making me very clear what mechanisms are in play here.
@@BrendanEvan That is true, but on the trail running I have my camelback, where I can carry it in with no problem. For my street running however, that would be a dificulty indeed!
You‘re a huge inspiration Matti! Seeing how you got so comfortable and good on camera shows we really just have to do the same and turn that camera around at us. My first step is to practice making videos (transitioning from photography) and during the process force myself to be in some shots every now and then. No idea how long it will take to film myself talking and then to look and listen to the footage to edit but I‘m sure to get there eventually - one small step at a time
Great info! My internal self hinders me! That a perfectionist mentality have been caging me up. I will take the advice and rip the band-aid off. May take me a little time but I am going to start today with filming finding my niche and getting a channel up. Thanks for your efforts and advice. Keep up what you do it's awesome! Collaboration and support is needed in today's world! Thanks again Zman

Fear of judgement is the worst. Second is not being able to put as good quality content as I would like to... And I don't know why that should even matter 😊
Thank for the advices and sharing with us the struggle u had with starting this youtube channel wich is a great channel now , keep up the good work matti
Love this video! I just started my Film Channel literally yesterday with a goal to upload EVERY SUNDAY. This episode just reassured and gave me even more confidence to pursue my film passion. Thank you brotha 🙌🏽
Perfectionism and planning out great content together with wanting a strong purpose for creating to make it meaningful is a big blocker. Maybe do a more in-depth survey on beginning a new project, big or small, could be useful for a lot of us. Thanks for helping out Matti!
you should rather feel a fear not to try because you'll never be ready if you don't start now. You're already good enough to start.. and than go perfect over time and don't give up!.
Hi Matti I've had a channel 9 years or so when I was in real estate videoing only properties and not me doing vloging..and yes like you said when I look back at some of the video I cringe. However then I worked for the company and was only allow a certain length of time to video a property and an hour to edit. I have worked with a British TV channel working on this island as a searcher, spending 2 weeks with the company that was a great experience filming with them. now I dont work in Real Estate. I have lots more time I want to use my TH-cam channel because I have 235 videos..over 200.000 views and 201 subscribed. I thought rather than start another channel use the same for a kick start, my niche would about living here, sometimes properties, others maintenance, eating out I've spoke to friend who is a chef and has a restaurant I thought once a month recipes etc..but my nerves stop me.....I've subscribed to you since 2017 and through you bought a cannon 6d with a 24-105 stock lens, 50mm f1.4 lens.. and recently a 17-40mm 'L' lens..I have the Crain plus gimbal, and a DJI spark. Green screen, and lighting I dont know how to change my channel name and all my details, I dont want my earnings to go the the company I work for..they dont use the channel now I'm not there, although from time to time I will video properties for them can You or Matt help me on this..looking forward to a reply

I started without a camera or any video gear and I could only put out 1 video per month, but I spent 100+ hours on each video and people slowly started to take notice. You don't need expensive equipment or software to get started, you just need a solid idea and strong initiative!

I checked out your channel and it is awesome!!!!
Very inspiring! Thank you for that
Matti: Why are you not starting?!?
Also Matti: before we start I just gotta eat my lunch.
Fear is (was) my biggest thing i do have a small TH-cam channel right now and love it
Peter and you are the main reasons I started with videography two years ago, and now I founded my own company and make money with my passion. Thanks for that guys and always give inspiration to people like me.
Same here, I've always wanted to make videos like theirs... hope your company does well, that's super impressive!!
That’s awesome! I started my business for photography and haven’t really moved forward since. Did you get stuck at any point?
Stop yelling at me! I will start, I just have to...
Lol
@Gamer Dad Japp, svennebanan i huset!
@Gamer Dad Sounds Finnish to me. Hei Matti, oletko suomalainen vai ruotsalainen?
I just have to finish watching this video first
Hey Mickey, there's still a few days left to publish a video in 2020, go for it.
Thank you.
Eleven Acres yep!
Eleven Acres , well said!
This was timely. Lately, I've found starting anything to be hard. I want to have everything in my life squared away before I start something new.
Congrats it's very tough and challenging.
Just the Friday inspiration I needed! Thanks Matti. :)
Manufacturers and Startups: (send Matti gear hoping for a review)
Matti: "Ooh gifts! Thanks guys."
"Stop living out of fear and start living out of purpose." @16:34 🔥🔥🔥
Definitely no better time in history to start a TH-cam channel. In fact only time in history! 👍
"Being perfect" i think this is the most important reason that i couldnt start film making...l hope i start as soon as possible 👌
yeah it's a process we need to get through 👍
I'm so glad I found this video, and so glad you made it.
SO, thanks. Subscribed!

I'm re-starting my youtube channel because of this video!!!
Thank you Tyler and Matti! This honestly really helped me out 🙏🏻
Are you a prophet Matti? I was tossing and turning in my bed before I fell asleep about how much gear I have to acquire before I go into TH-cam full time, I eventually fall asleep only to wake up to this. Thanks man
i bought all the gear 5 years ago and never really started anything, except a gaming channel using my phone. dont let anything hold you back man nor think that you need anything in specific to get started. all you need is already within reach(your phone)!Start now!
You need to be useful and a bit specific, the rest is not important.
So who’s gonna start in January? 😂😂😂
lol :D:D:D
😂😂
I just started
I started in April, that still counts... right?
Late start late comment😂 still 84 subs here after 4 months 🏳️😌
We just started it this year! Thank you Matti for all your motivation and inspiration
Back home in the GTA and finally starting to get things going! Starting is a struggle but so great once you do.

Cody Baker I can't wait. Cheers. 🐼👍🏽✌️
HOOK IT UP PLEASE.... I’ve started my channel but my next adventure is helping my son in acting. Being able to take even smoother video of him would be clutch. Thanks Matti for all that you do.
Travel More! Worry Less!
It takes me 3 to 4 weeks to make one video.
I feel you. It does seem to get a bit easier the more you do it tho.
I know I got IT, but Fear is stopping me from doing, so I´m kicking that fear in the a** and will just f***ing do it!
I started my dream in July with 2 of my brothers called Willett Gear Review. We could really use a gimbal! Great video by the way 🤘
Been making videos on photography for two years and have only just started to gain subscribers. If you enjoy it, it doesn’t matter, enjoy the process and you’ll get there!
How many? Because you turned it off :)
Only 2000 at the moment, but this time last month it was 200!
Ok Madison. Liked and subscribed. My small contribution to your growth. Good luck and keep the momentum going. 🐼👍🏽✌️
that's so impressive! That gives me a ton of encouragement, bc I do love it, and do it for myself, but sometimes it's discouraging to feel like I'm not motivating anyone, so tyyy
Thank you David!
I feel the exact same
I loved this video, Matti!
It's nonsense but still hurt n fearful to overcome
you can do it, it took me a month to edit videos. But its worth it, practice makes perfect.
Someone told me once “perfect is good enough for its purpose, nothing more”
That's such a great saying. My partner and I talk about the "perils of perfect" a lot, but this succinct and dead-on!

Part of not starting is fear that we'll lose our current job before we're ready to.
@@The_Harylaba the platform still wants to get rid of everyone

What I hadn’t realized at the time was he suffered a form of depression due to self medicating with pain pills.
Because we commonly feel that we are not ready to start, or at least not enough. The fear of failing.

I would love to start I just have no idea what to film.
Anything brotha just start lol
Filming you're drinking coffee, etc...:)
@@Musatainment saw some of ur videos, wish you the best of luck :) as long as ur having fun its worth it.

Binge watching past episodes of Storage Wars on TH-cam keeps me from starting things.
Im the "send me gear Matti😭"guy😂
I Hope you can ship to Africa😂
My advice for starting a TH-cam channel:
- Do it about something you love doing
- Focus on a learning curve instead of stats or audience retention
- Try stuff you don’t manage, just to learn and get the experience
- Talk about your goals
- Put time into your thumbnails
- Don’t force anyone to subscribe. Bring value and they will come automatically.
- Install TubeBuddy
- Practise filming every day with Instagram story or Snapchat to get experience and learn to see new angles and techniques
- Set a topic for the video. Don’t be all over the place
- ONLY compare yourself with who you were yesterday
- Make a bad first video on purpose just to get started and develope from there
Good luck! 🙂
Solid advice.

Do something in your own language. There are always people who don't want to watch English content.
Talk about the struggle to make content with a heavy accent... There are many who share your struggle!

Thanks again
Zman
My mom doesn't let me have a chanel
*looking for someone to edit for*
I'm looking to become a freelance video editor and I was wondering if anyone here was looking for a video editor. I'm also looking to build a good portfolio so if anyone has any really good vlog footage or B-roll or maybe a short film you want edit that I could use please let me know.

You're right! People are scared and shy to try something new! I struggle with these feelings because it creates new you and opens your mind!
Thanks a lot for creating this survey. You really made me rethink on why I haven't made a video in ages. You got me excited again!
