- Let's take you to the northland of New Zealand, a spot that is highly recommended by many. We decided to take their advice and check it out for ourselves. As we ventured that way, we passed through Warkworth and gave our first impression. Then, we went to the amazing waipu caves, a famous spot to check out for glowworms. We got to Whangarei and then explored that area, too, but we were definitely tired by this point and did our best to showcase the area.

Those guys who were working were waving at you guys that's called a mana wave
Thank you for being in our little country. I think you'll understand, that any attention we get, we are so happy 😊. I'll miss my fellow Paddy Glen, and his cheeky wiitty frau Mado 😊. Thank you for spending time here, I've enjoyed following your journey xx 💛💛
❤💯
Sending Aroha from LDN! So happy that you have made it to the Taitokerau. The two gentlemen on the side of the road were throwing Mana Waves. It's a popular practice. There is also a Hundertvasser in Kawa Kawa. May the ancestors and Atua keep you safe and joyful on your hikoi. Mauri Ora whānau ❤️🤍🖤
should've gone to mair park there's a camping ground there as well and forest walkways. at night you can hear wild kiwi. there is a creek with a walk bridge and swimming area on the other side. it's right behind you where you were at kensington.
There are so many country roads in NZ where if you drive through at night you can see glow worms for miles along the roadside on the cliff sides.
Guys thank you for putting out positive vibes at each place you visit. We as Kiwis often need reminding that we are blessed to live in such a beautiful country despite its social issues like all countries NZ is unique. I don't normally watch TH-cam but do enjoy your videos 😊
Hello, Hello G&M. "Ohhwee". Always great to hear from you. Every video is exciting to watch. You make it so Real.
Regards from South Africa 🇿🇦.
Many years ago an aunt owned a very smart ladieswear corner shop called Salon Sandra in Warkworth and they lived up on the hill in a street called Hill Street!😊
So pleased you did make it to Northland, my office is just across the road from the Town Basin, and the Hundertwasser wish I'd known you were here. Our roads were hammered in the cyclones. Yes, Northland is a world of its own. So much to see, 4 days not long but at least you made it. Thanks
that photo in the glow worm cave was just stunning - great shot
There's also the Kawakawa Hundertwasser toilets and library, with freedom camping area with tourists showers down the back also
I'm 45 and I haven't even left Auckland..lol...but it is wat it is...to watch these videos I'm amazed how beautiful our country is
Some pretty amazing places up there. I really admire Hundertwasser -he is a so creative. Hope you get to see the public toilets in Kawakawa. Thanks G & M
I feel funny watching you're video's now after going off on me about south island wish you all the best 🙏
NZ - A very lovely country, we will miss your awesome journey... thanks for sharing your adventures...
Whangarei, my home town. I spent a few months there last year. You seem to have covered all the places I hung out. Lots of freedom camping in the city when you know where to go.
What did you think of it? We briefly checked it out but at least we still seen it 🙂
Cricket ground carpark and the bridge toilet carpark, two freedom camp sites
@GlenAndMado you saw very little of Whangarei, I wouldn't judge it from a couple of days stop over.
@@anneleahy9010 my little grandchildren were moved from there by their parents, for safety reasons and I have been there often enough and stayed long enough, to know that their decision was the correct one.
Always a mad house in Whangarei on a Friday night. Love you guys! Keep up the Awesome content. Arohamai....
Oh wow, I live here and have never heard of the mana wave.
The beach site 15 mins around the Whangarei coast where you freedom camped, I have stayed in my van. On my own. Got food poisoning that night and was sick for a couple of days. Memories!🤢😉😊
There are some terrific spots on the north shore.
Langs Beach is stunning. Home of the rich holiday home owners!!
Ah Whangarei.. no surprises there 😂
Warkworth, my hometown! Never expected you guys to stop there. I worked at the butchery you visited to get me through high school and uni. Hope the meat was tasty.
It was delicious! We cooked it up that night 😉
It’s such a small world also haha, insane that you used to work there!
I hope you saw Whangārei Falls whilst there
If you're coming through Whangarei this week (17 June) please get in touch! I'd love to host you both :)
awww ... you should've tried that hangi
Hello Glenn and Mado!!!
Me and husband Dante (American & Filipino) are trying to migrate to New Zealand to be near Dante's 3 adult children who are in Wellington & Auckland.
We've visited twice now.
Dante's oldest son filed an E.O.I. for us, which apparently is good for 2 years, and you wait for name to be drawn from pool of names. If your name is drawn, then you get an Invitation To Apply, which apparently takes 2 years to go through.
Did you have to do an E.O.I.?
How long did you wait?
Do you have any tips for us?
I'm 59, Dante is 62. His kids will sponsor us since we're close to retirement age. However, we feel like we're waiting a long time to get our name drawn. We submitted in December 2023. Now, it's already June 2024.
We appreciate any advice!
We adore New Zealand, and very much enjoy watching your videos!
Thank You! Sheri Sempio
C'est un tour de gastronomique!
MANA WAVE! - it doesn't get more Kiwi than that guys!😉😆
Willing to charge 25 dollars for Glen & Mado to check out the incredible Hundertwasser building ?
You guys should've been given a free pass & red carpet ! 😁
Warkworth said like walk worth
Whangarei
Wh - is an f sound so wha is said like Fah (far without the 'r' sound
Nga - the Ng is pronounced like it is in SiNG
Rei - ray (try to roll the r almost sounds like day)
Hangi - Ha (like haha laughing
Ng (like Ng in sing
I is said like the letter E
Try not to get beaten up, robbed or your vehicle stolen from and you are doing OK for Whangarei. ( yeah lived there for a few years)
❤
perfectly acceptable to pronounce it wong-a-ray we all said it like that when we were kids. fon-ga-ray /farn-ga-ray is maori pronunciation
Don't forget Flaxmere and Hastings team !!!
Get away from the rain!. In Northland NZ. That's oxymoronic 😂lol
My home town I miss Whangārei I miss nz
Good life, haven't travel since covid lockdown
Mana Waves and sunshine. Seems like a perfect start.
tamaterau is not the best beach you have to keep going up to whangarei heads, lots of beaches up there or you could drive up to pataua these are popular spots for locals.
Lol first you do Christchurch , where I've lived most of my life, then you do my hometown, whangarei where I grew up.😂
Yes. The crime and the massive unemployment that followed after the Marsden point and freezing works layoffs in the eighties is why I left.
Kai iwi lakes
DONT forget Hikurangi
wh = f .... w = w ... dunno why we don't just use f instead of wh
if you said "Walk worth" you would be spot on regardless of accent
Wait until you get to the far north..Low population fantastic scenery and the best beaches in the country. Shame you are not visiting during our summer . you would have the chorus of thousands of cicadas and much warmer weather.
In the meat store one guy using his hands after guy using gloves
Didn’t notice haha
Walksword😂
Good no ya guys.
Victorian archeture???
Mana wave my bro
Whangarie = fon yaa ray
wh with an f
You guys walked past the Hundertwasser Museum without comment.
We talked about it in the video
You must have blacked out! They talked about it!!
@@lesleyhughes3174 must have been the beersies 🙂
If you ever come back make sure to learn how to pronounce our language properly
How's your Irish and German pronunciation? It must be perfect, judging by the expectation expressed in your comment!
@Masque54 shut your mouth boy
That’s rather rude isn’t it
They speak the same language we do😂😂😂 Just with a different accent, they have trouble prounouncing the cities with Indigenous names.
