  • In todays vid I’m trying out the “ice cream cone” grip that Ryan from Fortnine was recently talked about. I also have some tips about making this grip a little easier to get used to doing when you ride. Hope you enjoy!

    That technique is probably why clip ons exist on sport bikes. Seeing you do it on an upright kind of makes that point clear I think? Pog glad it’s working a bit

    I would use that grip taking corners but never thought to have that grip at all times. You've inspired me, I'ma try it out

      that grip is used on track to keep the gas under control and have a beeter feeling on the progressive acceleration when turning on the right side, never saw or heard anyone using it while riding normally

    • @troyhill1924
      @troyhill1924  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah honestly I’m seeing a lot of feedback for it being good in corners and for throttle control only, it’s kinda difficult to stay like that all the time lol

    Use it on twisties and faster riding and I notice a difference, especially in keeping the throttle consistent in corners. City traffic and filtering (Lane Splitting), monkey grip all the way or there's a high probability of my wrist exploding.

      Haha 😂 I get that completely

    I've tried it but I've found that for regular everyday riding the monkey bar grip is more comfortable, and as you said, gives easier access to the levers, which are critical in heavy traffic. I've found that the best for me is the monkey bar grip, and switching my throttle hand to the ice cream cone grip when I apply heavy throttle.

      @loz4830 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you arent meant to to it all the time, just while cornering right, which is when the monkey grip becomes awkward

    • @williamharris7577
      @williamharris7577 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@loz4830 Exactly, that's what I got from Ryan. Tight turns only as you're leaning close to the road.

      The Adventure riding has a different grip style, with only one finger on the front brake and 2 to 3 on the clutch lever.

    I actually spot this way back.... Max wrist might not be a good role model but when you see how he rides he's definitely a veteran track rider. If you pay close attention he has his hands wide on the bar and the ice cream grip. I put that into practice on my zxr400 and the bike just transformed into instant feedback and felt so much more responsive... It's now second nature. Odd at first... But has so much benefits

      I know! It’s crazy how much more feedback you get from this, I’m so happy I tried it out. Honestly I’ve never watched maxwrist because so many ppl hate on him but maybe I should try him out a little

      @@troyhill1924 I'd say he's worth watching with his gestures and body placing, .. like it or not he is fast but yea dude I agree..... He is no role model to follow... Absolute disregard for other people but... He does wear gear 😂🤷🏻‍♂️

    Monkey grip when doodling around, but ice cream all the way when the going gets sporty
