They haven't touched Halo since 2014, and have absolutely nothing to do with any mod tools. 343i themselves created the new mod tools in MCC for H:CE, H2, H3, and Reach over the last year.

Havok is a great engine, made back when devs pulled off some insane coding that still stands up today, like the iterations of Unreal, Rage & iDTech that have evolved to give us Doom Eternal, RDR2 & GTA
For those who don't do game dev, know that this video is *really* underselling how impressive this is for a solo project. Modding fully destructible maps into an existing game not built for that and having it look good and function decently is a *shitload* of work. I'm super impressed.
I don't personally do game dev, but i've played games all my life, got to see how game engines work and all. This honestly blew my mind. Just like every one of his other projects. This dude is absurdly good.

To think you guys did all of this mostly solo on a game engine held together by duct tape, popsicle sticks, and prayer, is nothing short of a biblical miracle...

In 07, retro games were games like Sonic 2, the original Mario Kart, Mortal Kombat 1, Wolfenstein 3D, etc, and all those games came out in 92, fifteen years prior to 07. Halo 3 is a retro game. And you saying that Halo 2/3 has a good engine means that you have never worked on them under the hood. I'm not saying that Halo 2 or 3 functioned poorly for the end user, but the code all looks like indecipherable runes that only work through miracle. I did Custom Edition modding back in the day, and tried to mod Halo 2 a couple of times, but it was insanity. I got curious recently and checked out the H2/H3 mod tools for MCC to rekindle some of that old childhood magic and it nearly drove me insane, and I literally work as a freelance code monkey... Loving the games doesn't mean that they can't be made on awful engines, and Halo 2/3's engine is one of the worst I have ever seen, which really says less about the quality of the games and more the talent and ingenuity of Bungie at the time.
A physics-based retro shooter with voxel graphics you say? Did you by chance play Ace of Spades (NOT the jagex version, the original) back in the day? That game was my childhood, so many fond memories. It was an indie game with a rather simple concept but god damn was it good. The community used to be really strong back in the early 2010s, now it is basically dead. Feeling really nostalgic right now.
I think Inferno is one of the few TH-cam people who goes Quality over quantity anymore. Man will take 6+ months to make a thing he enjoys, wants to share and then a little behind the scenes and have fun with it. Absolute legend
The only other channel I can think of with that kind of passion put into each and every video is SovietWomble. Inferno puts the same amount of effort and dedication into coding that Womble puts into video editing. And in both instances, anyone would be able to look at the video and tell how polished it is, but only those who understand at least a little of what goes on behind the scenes can truly appreciate how much work goes into them.

inferno, these videos have moved from goofy little funny things to almost seeming like a pure act of creative expression, showing how you've honed your skills and mastered your craft and your ability to use the tools you've mastered to bring something as trivial as an imaginative idea into reality
The MCC team is truly a gem in the Halo community, that it is still so heavily supported is beautiful. You are also a wonderful madman to do the absurdity you do.
Even Bungie at tis peak was not so supportive of the Halo community in my opinion, and I mean Halo 2, Halo 3 days. The only thing I really wish the MCC team would do differently is reimplement lobbies and proximity chat to relive the Halo 2 and 3 days of community jumping. That said, it's been keeping the game alive and updated so well and genuinely supportive, I'm continuously impressed by the content releases.

@Read SIEGE No. We all recognize the issues on MCC launch and Infinite, but Infinite and MCC are different teams now and there's been far, far more than just mod tools done for MCC. I mean they're working with modders to revive cut Halo 2 campaign content currently, they've implemented a very substantial amount of content and worked quite closely with the community. This portion of 343 is clearly passionate for Halo and continuing it. Also, honestly, a lot of 343's issues are compounding from and inherited off of Bungie in the last years of their Halo involvement.

That fact that so much work on even the slightest details are incredible and it astounds me the amount of work that goes in purely driven by passion. I mean opening the door and falling leaves. Walls that crumble. To think an individual modder was able to create something like this is passion that can't be bought. Also helps that Halo 3 is my favorite Halo and seeing the perfect spartan design running around in this nonsense is beautiful.
I'm just all around impressed, and not actually that surprised that someone at 343 fixed the issue you needed fixed, you're kinda a beacon of hope for this community's survival
InfernoPlus has got to be one of the best modders out there. The quality of the craftsmanship in his mods is insane for how silly they are. Absolute mod god.

I am always impressed how inferno puts more effort into his mods than entire teams do with their games they intend to sell and he does this all for free, it's evident how much work and passion goes into making these mods even without knowledge of the technical detail of scripting a mod especially one of this scale. Inferno certainly deserves more recognition and subscribers for outstanding work like this I'd love to see other content creators trying out these mods and I especially look forward to what's next.

For the record: Bungie wanted to apply destructible physics for Halo 2, but canned it when it became a nightmare to work with. but this? I am always impressed how inferno puts more effort into his mods than entire teams do with their games they intend to sell and he does this all for free, it's evident how much work and passion goes into making these mods even without knowledge of the technical detail of scripting a mod especially one of this scale.
Inferno certainly deserves more recognition and subscribers for outstanding work like this I'd love to see other content creators trying out these mods and I especially look forward to what's next.

For the record: Bungie wanted to apply destructible physics for Halo 2, but canned it when it became a nightmare to work with. but this? You have achieved what people in the past could not achieve due to a lack of time, budget, and RAM. You did this, and made it fun! Amazing.
