Thank you for posting this! It is about time that I put some energy and love into getting my horse comfortable with the trailer, and now I feel inspired to do so!

Just wondering what treats you are feeding? I need to find treats that don't have a lot of sugar in them to do training.

@@Savedbygrace5984 it’s a mix of about 2/3 hay pellets and triple crown lite. Then a couple handfuls of triple crown senior is added and a mixture of treats. There are a number of low sugar treats on the market today. Adding in a few carrot pieces can bring a lot to the flavor, moisture, and won’t hurt the metabolic horse. As always, consult your vet when adding anything to your horse’s diet.

My trailer is EXTRA loud when they step in. It doesn't have any mats or padding on the vertical walls like yours. I wonder if I can install some up the sides somehow to make it less loud. 🤔 my horses will get in, but we are working on feelings about the door closing. But the noise even startles me. It's so loud.

@@Barefootinhorsehippy hi! I think it’s possible you have us confused with someone else. We hand feed consistently. If you can find the video again, we’d love to see it. 😊

maybe working on just a piece of wood on the ground or a few inches off the ground would be useful, to work on the sound issue

I have the exact same problem with getting my mammoth donkey to trailer. He acts the same as your horse. We been working at it for 4 month now but seem to have platoed. He goes in with his front legs and touches the target, but if I move the target further in, he backs out and is done.
How can I help him get unstuck?

@@equineconfidenceplus5052 remember to click the walking… particularly the back feet moving. Keep sessions very short, reinforcement heavy with jackpot for any brilliant choices and be sure your food value is also high. We also have a membership that will show all this in action at www.shawnakarrasch.com

@shawnakarrasch thanks, yes I've been doing everything you suggested. Guess I'll just keep trying. It is definitely the noise inside the trailer that freaks him out.
I joined your membership several month ago. Love all your video training tips.
