    I live in Santa Monica California (Los Angeles County) used to live in San Francisco. My house is new and built to current earthquake codes for California and the office I work in has been retrofitted to current California earthquake codes. I have a storm shelter with a month’s worth of food and supplies in the case of an actual earthquake emergency.
    I forgot to add the biggest earthquake I was in: Loma Prieta in San Francisco October 17th 1989. I was at the A’s-Giants World Series game! 15 seconds of pure adrenaline and fear! I’m glad I wasn’t on the Bay Bridge and especially not on the Cypress Expressway!

      I know right? Poor dude was sharing how he was stuck in the crack of the bridge with his car face down at the ocean!!! I'd have LOST it. I was 5 in 1989. I recall vividly being with my father about to walk into Toys R Us for a Cabbage Patch Doll. My father grabbed me by the back of my shirt and I was just hanging in the air screaming bloody murder over not getting that doll 😂😂😂😂

    Based on past history, I'm surprised the probability isn't 100%.
    1940 El Centro 7.0
    1952 Kern 7.3
    1971 Sylmar 6.6
    1980 Eureka 7.4
    1987 Whittier 5.7
    1989 Bay Area 6.9
    1992 Landers7.2
    1992 Mendocino 7.2
    1994 Northridge 6.7
    1999 Ludlow 7.1
    2019 Ridgecrest 7.1

      Depends on what counts as damaging. Most of these listed happened out in the boonies (ridgecrest) or at a really low depth and didn't really damage anything

    • @oldcyclist5880
      @oldcyclist5880 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@arxligion Definition of damage doesn't have a threshold, but if that's a criteria, Ridgecrest had in excess of $1B in damage to buildings and roads. Ludlow had damaged freeway bridges and a train derailment. Northridge had significant damage and a number of deaths from an apartment complex collapse. Cape Mendocino had around $50M in damage and a few hundred injuries. Landers, the boonies, had around $90M in damage. 1989 Bay Area quake had in excess of $5B in damage plus deaths. Whittier, a few $100M and a handful of deaths. Eureka had millions in damage. My "favorite", Sylmar, was my first big quake as a teen, and had at least one collapsed freeway bridge, $500M in damages and somewhere around 60 deaths.
      Without even looking at the two events earlier than 1970, I'd say most, if not all, of the mentioned quakes had damage.

    I was on the Bay Bridge 1989 when it broke
    I studied the Hayward Fault....we were due for a major move within 30 years.
    It is 35 years now.
    But I did move away from the Hayward Fault.
    Made sure I am not on sediment
    I think it has the highest probability with the greatest damage

      We are in solar maximum with the magnetic protection field decreasing now a 100 times faster- this because of a geomagnetic excursion . That means that between now and 2030 we will experience worse and worse weather until the energy highly likely will move the crust. That means INSANE eruptions and eq. Also waves of abt 400 feet. Get ready for cold weather for consecutive years. This has happened 150 times before every 12000 years with smaller impact every 6000 years..

    I actually don't see how this changes anything outside of better seeing where an earthquake will occur. Not necessarily that it will occur more frequently or any differently.
    We've been having earthquakes throught the years. Just the majority of them don't really do much other than rock you to sleep. We always talk about a big one coming but the reality is that's just by design here. But you can never know when because it's unpredictable... again... by design.

    • @mrsleep0000
      @mrsleep0000 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Waste of money, any time there's a large earthquake the insurance companies either go out of business or refuse to pay, seen it happen over and over. If the problem is big enough, they just don't pay out.
      Insurance really is a scam that our government forces us to pay for.
